Character Info— Sofia Robards
Age: 25
Graduation: Gryffindor Alum, Class of 2011
OWLs/NEWTs: O’s on everything but an E in Transfiguration her OWL year and an E in History of Magic during her NEWT year.
History: Born the youngest of three children of a pureblood family, Sofia was the last and only daughter of Gawain and Marian Robards. She can recall little of her early childhood years, most of it being spent with her nurse, or her two elder brothers, William and Edward. Her mother was to busy with her various charities and social functions to ever pay any real attention to her daughter and her father had little to do with Sofia, preferring to spend all of his time at the ministry or telling his sons stories about the adventurous life of an Auror. Gawain was prepping either of his two sons to follow in the family footsteps and become Aurors – hardly the place for a woman in his mind. Life as the shadow child continued up until the death of her father in 1998, mere months after he had achieved the greatest goal, becoming head of the Aurors. Unlike the rest of her family, Sofia was hardly stricken by her father’s death at the hands of renegade dark lord supporters, she was secretly rather pleased with the way things had turned out. The five year old was still a bit resentful that her father had thought her incapable of something it would seem. The rest of Sofia’s life was spent trying to prove to her father’s ghost and her mother’s doubtful face that she had what it took to continue on the Robards tradition of having an Auror in the family every generation.

Unlike her brothers, both of whom were sorted into Slytherin and proceeded to live average school lives of mischief, Sofia was placed in Gryffindor. To her ten year old mind that was a sign from above that she was meant to be an Auror while her mother was horrified that her baby had been sorted into a house that the bloodtraitors had polluted. This mattered little to Sofia who hung out with her set group of friend – all studious Ravenclaws of her year that she had met in the library. She threw herself into her studies, intent on becoming the best in everything required to be an Auror. While the Ravenclaws around her learned for the sake of learning, she was more goal driven. Sofia ended up getting lucky and was naturally gifted at charms and potions, but found that transfiguration was a bit more complicated than following a simple set of instructions or wand movements. She was panicked when her OWL results showed that she had received a mere E in the subject, a subject that could make or break her chances of becoming an Auror. So the next years she studied Transfiguration religiously and the results where all Os on her NEWTs in subjects that mattered. With all this study she still managed to have fun at school – her brothers made sure of that, setting her up on blind dates with acceptable Slytherins and dragging her to Hogsmead on weekends. They luckily had not inherited their late father’s feelings on females. Meanwhile she and her friends could be constantly seen with their heads bent together trying to figure out the little dramas that unfolded over meals.

After graduation Sofia applied and was accepted in the Auror training program. Her mother was horrified that her daughter didn’t get a nice desk job somewhere like her brothers had, both of whom had elected out of even thinking about becoming Aurors. It didn’t take long for Sofia to rise to the top of her class, her talents lying in stealth and tracking (the drama watching addiction had paid off it seemed) – her main difficulty was disguise. Her instructors tried their best to make her loose what they dubbed ‘the pureblood strut’ but it was to inbred for her to do much to stop it. After three years of training she fulfilled the family legacy and her goal. It gave Sofia a cruel satisfaction to know that somewhere out there her father was rolling in his grave. Meanwhile her brothers took a more traditional route. William choosing to get a nice respectable job as a private law advisor and get married to his Hogwarts sweetheart Betty (Elizabeth) and have a couple kids while Edward went on to become a lovable leech, choosing to live off his inheritance (by no means a modest sum).

Life as an Auror was all that Sofia dreamed, and she had the added prestige of being able to say she worked under THE Harry Potter. Her mother of course would grumble about how little Potter had done for the Wizarding community and how it was indecent that her own daughter worked such long hours and why couldn’t she get married like her brothers were? This happy world filled with work, work, and complete satisfaction with her job was shattered four years after becoming an official Auror, when the boy who lived and died and then lived again disappeared. Suddenly her office was under going abuse from all corners of the wizarding world, all demanding to know where he was and what the ‘nitwit aurors’ thought they could do about it while inside the office doors a hush fell, all wanting to know who would become Head of the Aurors now that Harry Potter was missing.

Personality: Sofia is extremely intelligent and motivated but in order to gain the focus these skills required of her she lost her sense of humor. Jokes and the like go over her head unless of course they are jokes from her trade – which no one else seems to understand. Her main drive is the ambition to prove to her father that women can make it just as far as any male in the Robard family has in the world of Aurors, never mind that he is dead. Sofia often overlooks the fact that her father is and will refer to him in the present tense. With this in mind she is somewhat of a stanch feminist and constantly is preaching to her nieces that they can do anything they put their minds to.

Her dream is to one day become Head of the Aurors and if her work continues to be as spotless as it has been up to this point in her life she feels that she has a sporting chance. Work is her life and while she grudgingly goes to family functions hosted by her mother or allows herself to be dragged out of her work by her brothers for something or another, for the most part Sofia has few friends and is very cautious about who she allows herself to become close to. With the sudden disappearance of Harry Potter and the unique methods the press has been using to get more information on the matter she had suddenly become even more close lipped than usual.

While having extreme amounts of focus on all matters related to her job, Sofia is impulsive and has been accused of having a death wish by fellow Aurors. She goes with what her instincts tell her and questions the logistics of it after. So far these instincts have not gotten her killed and have gotten her out of many a tight scrape – such as the time when a dark wizard was able to see through her disguise as a beggar. Stupid pureblood carriage. Death also means little to Sofia. She finds it amusing and something to laugh in the face of. She is unable to dwell on death, being around it so often has made her realize that there are some things she can control, like her destiny, while other things she can’t, like when and where she will die.

Appearance: Sofia is of average height, tan, and has a fairly round face framed by dark brown hair. If she could be bothered to take time off of work and maintain a more complex hairstyle she would, be seeing as this is likely to never happen her hair is at a practical length, long enough to be pulled into an easy bun, but short enough to not be a real bother. Her eyes are a dark green and are of an average size. Nothing to remarkable there. Her lips are her distinguishing feature being on the large and naturally rosy side. However Sofia’s appearance is subject to change however depending on what is required of her for her job. She has sported grey hair and wrinkles from time to time as well as electric orange hair. No one ever told her how it was to match one’s clothes to their hair when it was orange – she felt like Halloween incarnated with her usual black robes and unusual colored hair when she got off of that assignment.
