History:
Aurelia was born and raised in an old, prestigious Pureblood family that have branched out significantly to include ties with the Ferox family amongst others. She spent the majority of her childhood in Venice in the family house which was always bursting with family members. She herself was the fourth child in a family of six children and there were always visitors on top of that. The atmosphere was always lively and colourful which was supplemented by the culture and history rich city she lived in. Aurelia showed early signs of magic when she accidentally levitated her brother Valentino out of his crib and into the washing basket at seven years old, confirming she would be following her older siblings to Wizarding school.

Aurelia received an owl, as was expected, inviting her to Veneficus Academy. There was nothing really that was different from home- it was another place full of loud people and magic. She was rather disappointed that her borders weren’t expanding even if it meant she could finally use the magic that her older siblings entranced her with. She just wasn’t filled with much excitement for it what with being constantly surrounded by it. At least Veneficus offered a new change of scenery.

Aurelia, some argue, excelled in the least useful subjects- Latin and Muggle Studies. Latin only because it let her make up her own spells and Muggle Studies because she absolutely fascinated by it. It was an extension of the world she was used too and she was really intrigued about what lay just outside her Wizarding existence. Also not so helpful was that in the subjects she didn’t like, she was more concerned about making the parchment she was writing on look pretty. She doodled endlessly. It was very clear she was a very artistic type and she basked in all things creative from fashion to music. School passed without incident and slowly, agonisingly slowly. She graduated with marks lower than all of her siblings but with a very big art portfolio. Her parents didn’t mind- there was no need to good grades.

Aurelia returned to her normal existence in the Contarini house, albeit a little more restless. She felt she lacked purpose beyond magic and a good match. That was all her family seemed to wish of her seeing as her elder sibling had fulfilled the more official roles of heir and providers. There was nothing for her to do. There was nothing left, nothing that captured her imagination. Even her watercolours looked duller than usual. Whatever suitors visited her were turned away as she was apathetic. Her only saviours were fashion magazines and romance novels.

All she wanted was a little more spontaneity in her life. Everything was so planned and filtered. It was like she hadn’t really witnessed the real world. And Muggles! What strange creatures that survived without magic. She would like to see them, even talk to one! That would be amazing. Maybe she could go travelling … she wondered how her parents would like that. But she didn’t have to tell her parents … right? She considered it and planned it all over a year. Her eighteenth birthday passed and she was finally given access to the money in the account.

Time to run! Her tour took her through some of the fashion capitals- Milan, New York, Paris and London and she stayed in each for two years a piece. During that time, she spent much of it soaking up design and painting, refining her skills. When she came to London, her final stop, she felt she wanted to get into the business. She’s recently got a sort of ‘apprenticeship’ with an obscure family contact. She’s working as a fashion designer under the owner of a Wizarding Line. In her spare time, she’s also an amateur artist.

Recently, she’s started feeling a little lonely and had heard her cousin Cal is in the area. Remembering the whispers amongst her family and also feeling a strange longing to be with blood and kin, she’s been trying to find him.

Personality:
Aurelia is a hopeless romantic- ever since tasting ‘freedom’ as it were, she cannot stand stiffness. She likes to be spontaneous and, despite being in her mid-twenties, she still acts like an impulsive teen. Whether it’s bursting into song in her room, belting into a hair brush or dancing with a broom in the kitchen, she’s completely shameless. She feels like she wants to do it so she tries to do it. Unfortunately, travelling alone hasn’t done much for her because it was usually left to others to keep her in check and so she had no proper awareness of where the line is. She doesn’t know when it is appropriate to let her emotions and desires show.

Aurelia worries about what people think. It is not shallow, rather a deeply instilled instinct to search for approval. From being brought up in a family with certain and specific standards, she always feels she should be filling in a role of sorts. If she doesn’t know what people want of her, she feels little lost. Left to her own devices, she is perfectly and naturally herself, but otherwise it is hard to find that carefree side of her. To make it worse, due to her impulsive nature, she always feels she is earning disapproval. This leads to her attempting to bottle up which eventually leads to explosions, which is possibly even worse.

Still, it means she tries to be nice to people. Well, at first. If they affront her enough times, that’s it- people have to be prepared to receive what they dish out. It might also be the fashionista types rubbing off on her but when she wants to be a snide cow, she’ll bloody well be one. And she’ll do it well. She’s fiery when provoked and can’t control her anger as well as she’d like. Mostly people figure it’s because she’s Italian.

On her own and with people close to her, she’s quieter and a lot more relaxed. She feels like she doesn’t have to think before she speaks or even speak at all and so it allows her time to recover from the great energy she spends in trying to bubbly and happy all the time. It’s when she’s most at ease, but she rarely shares those moments with other people now that she’s travelling by herself.

Appearance:

Aurelia has dark hair and features. She stands at a respectable 5’6 and is built slimly and looks after herself so she stays that way. Her dress sense if eclectic and fickle, but very much her own and not really dictated by current fashions at the time.
