Title: Greets?

Perry Alderton - October 31, 2008 02:46 AM (GMT)

Welcome to After Graduation! Why don't you tell us a little about yourself?

Hey all! I'm Perry, and I'm new here but not at all new to RPing. I started on message boards back in 2002, but for the last four or five years have played almost exclusively on MU*s. They're pretty different, so here's hoping I readjust easily enough!

If you want more personal details: I'm a 21-year-old university student in California, studying pre- and early-modern literature and Middle Egyptian Hieroglyphs. It is kind of a useless thing to know, to be perfectly honest, but my ability to translate makes me a hit at museums. In my free time I climb things, sail around in things, and fence things. I'm graduating in five weeks and will most likely be moving abroad.

We love you already. <3

Now that you've told us about yourself, why don't you tell us about your character? Here's a quick summary sheet to make it easy.

Describe your character in less than a paragraph.
Perry is a quiet, calm sort of man who likes to keep his privacy. It fits well, since he's an Unspeakable, but unless you work with him he likely isn't going to admit that freely. Other info he won't admit freely: He's married, has a son, and just returned from banishing demons and discovering secret cities in Egypt.

What's your posting style like?
I'm really not sure, seeing as how I haven't done message board RPs in so long. On MU*s I like to keep things more action-oriented though, and I will likely continue to do so here - especially since Perry is hard to read (high-ho occlumency).

What sort of plots or roleplays are you interested in? Serious or light? Long-term or short?
I like a mix of things, really. I love having to solve puzzles through RP, and those exciting action scenes, but I'm also down if someone wants to relax with coffee after a long day's work.

Fantastic! Now I hope you've prepared yourself. You're about to be bombarded with welcomes and thread requests from many wonderful roleplayers.

Okay, my mind is too muddled from the head cold for much plotting, but I have to say that we need to work out some kind of relationship between Perry and my character, Logan Fletcher, age 26, also an Unspeakable. I mean, Logan's about to quit/be arrested, but still. From my skimming of your history it seems Perry worked in the department for awhile, and Logan's been there since he graduated from Hogwarts, so I'm gonna say they know each other.

And yeah. Stuff. *sways dizzily*

(This is Spiv, btw. I have 23749243 characters.)

Oh I'd say. If Logan's 26, he was probably in the year just above Perry's, and Perry worked there right out of school as well. They may have even been trainees together!

Perry's been gone for five years, but I'm happy to figure out some sort of relationship that happened before then. From what I've read of Logan's profile he doesn't seem like the sort who'd want to befriend coworkers (please correct me if I'm wrong), but there's plenty of room for rivalries?

Poor Spiv.

Anyway, hi, I'm Sam, 20, college student, English/Philosophy (have I at last found someone with a major slightly more useless than mine? :P ). You like action, huh? Might want to look at some of the criminal plots, there's a lot going on there.

I play several characters, but mostly E.B. Braun (who'd have been in Perry's year, I think, but is pretty much his polar opposite) and Cal Ferox (click signature for link to his profile). Cal might work for plot, since he's a magical theorist (he laid the groundwork for the Fourth Unforgivable perfected by Spiv's character Logan). And he's a Squib, but hey, technicalities. And a criminal. Maybe we could come up with something. PM me, if you like. I'm also a bit tired--it's been a long week--but I'm always up for plotting.

Heya! Naturally knowing how to transliterate wDA-jb=k Apd.w into middle Egyptian is an extremely useful skill, so I wouldn't blame you for feeling daunted... ;) I jest. English/philosophy has got to be a fun mix. I get to read a lot of old philosophy with my pre- and early-modern concentration, that's some fun stuff.

As for characters/plotting... I read E.B.'s personality, it isn't a COMPLETE opposite to Perry. They're both friendly, at least? But maybe once Livi finishes with her character we can all figure more out there, since Livi sounds a lot like E.B.. Maybe not as big of a jester, but while Perry is conservative and a bit withdrawn Livi's always been the outgoing one and she'd have been the same year. Friend by association, or friend of the family, is another possibility.

Cal has some interesting possibilities as well. Perry has been trying to delve further into the lesser-traveled roads of magic, and I'd be particularly interested in getting to work with different dimensions of existence or ritualistic magic. Per isn't a criminal by any means, but Cal likely knows some things Per would find very interesting, and vice-versa. Maybe we could figure out some way for them to work together towards opposing goals and... I don't know, it'd likely depend on what else is going on, but I think there's potential.
