History:
Julian De Winter's family is one of the oldest in the wizarding world. They can trace their bloodline back a thousand years or more and while they do not inbreed as such, the De Winter looks of black hair coupled with grey or brown eyes breed true. Julian is the third of five children born to Richard and Marissa De Winter. His family is spread apart in ages but loving. The De Winter manor in Surrey is well defended and has protected the De Winter line for centuries. Julian currently holds rooms in one of the wings of this impressive 'E' shaped house.

From a young age, Julian was surrounded by the accoutrements of magic and knowledge. His family are notorious for their love of learning and curiousity and all have found their place in Ravenclaw once sent to school, it is a rare De Winter that is sent elsewhere. Julian grew up not only with the weight of history, but also with a love of potion making and experimentation, his penchant for dabbling with the cauldron gaining him the nickname 'Potionboy' from his younger sister. He passed a happy childhood and entered Hogwarts at the age of 11. He attended for two years before tragedy struck, some out of date Floo Powder caused a magical fireball which nearly killed him and sent him to Mungo's for months. After extensive surgery, he regained the ability to walk with the aid of a stick and most of the burns were erased, it was two years however before full healing enabled him to fully regain his life.

He took potions and Herbology at NEWT level and joined Mungos as a junior healer upon leaving Hogwarts. He was planning to marry his school sweetheart Velvet Dumas in May 09 however she vanished without a trace several weeks before the wedding leaving him heartbroken. Since then, he has plunged himself into his work and while he has had relationships, he hasn't let himself care for anyone else since. He has recently taken on the post of a senior level healer and is well on his way to becoming a master in his art.

Personality:Julian is a serious man with a dedication to healing. He does have a sense of humour, yet at times it holds a bitter edge. He uses work to escape the fact that he has lost the one decent thing in his life. He loves his family and derives a good deal of his strength from his parents and siblings.

Appearance: Tall and lean with black hair and grey eyes that rarely sparkle with good humour. He walks with a limp, a throwback to the injuries he suffered as a teenager.
