Title: Garrow's Just Deserts

Ivy Ballantine - November 10, 2008 05:03 AM (GMT)
Ivy's trial is coming up! That means that Edward Garrow's demise is imminent! *cheers*

One of the ideas we had surrounding the whole breakout/break-in/wife-beating/trial craziness was that at Ivy's trial, everyone who has evidence against Garrow comes forward. So that includes Snidge, Atlas, the Sinistras, Derum if she's back by then, Bram, Ivy, Sofia, Constance, Logan...am I missing anyone? Should Cal go in there? I'm not sure. And anyone who's got more information and/or is concerned. *covers bases*

The only problem is, all these people somehow need to get organized in time for the trial. In between the breakout/etc. (which is currently set at Sept. 28th, let me know if that date works) and the trial there will only be a few days. This is the rough idea I have so far:
  • Ivy triggers a wife-beating disaster, in true Ivy form.
  • Bram sees the wife-beating stuff. OMG! Runs to tell Lucy/Derry.
  • Derry has a royal hissy fit and contacts every useful person he knows. Lucy presumably convinces the two men not to murder Garrow.
  • They make an announcement on the WWN/Lee Jordan Show that there's a private investigation into the fourth unforgivable article and anyone with information should come to such-and-such meeting.
  • People go to the meeting. They discuss. Make plans.
  • On the day of the trial Bram grabs Kendra and runs to tell Ivy that she can tell everything. Yay!
  • Ivy walks into her trial and announces Garrow is a jerk. She is followed by a flood of eyewitnesses and evidence.
  • Garrow's thrown in jail, there's a major power shift in the ministry, Ivy/Logan go free, everyone is happy. Celebrate!

The important things in all that are the meeting and the trial. Who wants to be involved in them, and how?

Atlas Caedmon - November 10, 2008 05:09 AM (GMT)
Atlas would love the opportunity to see Garrow get it. In fact I think nothing would make him happier. Hes occupied at the moment trying to recreate the spell to find out who helped Garrow and might be to paranoid to testify in person. That having been said he would definitely pass any evidence he had to someone who would testify.

Atlas is a go for the meeting, likely not for the trial, though he would attend it.

Artemis Sinistra - November 12, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
Arty would probably testify about what she witnessed in the DOM and what not. I imagine she'll just want to forget everything, but I highly doubt after this turmoil that she'd be able to withstand the Ballantine's pressure for her to come forward.

Logan will obviously be detained for the meeting, but Constance will come, and presumably be able to relay things to Logan if such a suggestion is made (though I'm not sure it would...anyway). They will both be at the trial, obviously.

[/double post]

I don't know that we'll have enough time for all of this. I mean, Carmen's article pretty solidly points the finger at Garrow for a lot of stuff, so I imagine there'd be an immediate call for an investigation into him.

Here's the timeline I propose:
  • Carmen publishes article/Ivy is arrested.
  • The next morning, Constance visits Garrow to try speaking to Kendra. When she returns to the office, she reads Carmen's article.
  • The rest of the department is busy trying to verify Carmen's claims. Con sees this as her chance to free Ivy. She goes to Derry/Lucy (Bram is already there? Will Brock even be around for this?)
  • Meeting, planning, Lee Jordan, etc.
  • Ivy's speedy trial takes place the next day. Grand finger-pointing occurs. The rest is the same.

Dermot Ballantine - December 29, 2008 10:06 PM (GMT)
Hallelujah, the holiday/end of semester insanity is over! Now let's get down to business. I'm going to go ahead and post the meeting thread as Derry. Brock is still having internet issues according to a PM circa Dec. 21st so we're just going to skip over anything that involves him (he says I have the patience of a thousand monks. No kidding). I'm also going to start the trial thread as Ivy tomorrow or after New Year's, unless another plot character wants to start it off faster. The important thing right now is to get through those threads so we can get to some fresh plottage with new characters.
