Title: Late Night Tiptoe
Description: Open

Tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe. There was something so very odd about that word. Tiptoe. Who thought of that? Tiptoe. Really, did they ever try walking on the tips of their toes? It certainly wasn't a easy or good thing, and no guarantee that one's walking would be quiet.

Though Nedy had to admit it was easier than saying 'walk very quietly and softly on the the balls of your feet' every time you wanted a little kid to not cause an ruckus when they walked. Plus, it usually had the added effect of making them walk slow, and it was funny to see that do that hunched-shoulder bit that seemed to be an mandatory companion to tiptoeing.

So while Nedy's two little charges were as quiet as they could be as they tiptoed down the hall of the children's ward of the second floor, she had to put serious effort towards not giggling. Which, you know, would effectively destroy the point of having the two little girls tiptoe around.

What was the point of having them tiptoe around? Well, have you ever had accidentally woken up an entire children's ward at one in the morning just because you couldn't be quiet while taking a pair of dragon-pox inflicted girls down for a glass of water? Well, Nedy hadn't and she certainly intended to keep it that way.

"Good night girls," Nedy whispered as she closed the door to the girl's room. Smiling to herself, she walked down the hall, nodding to the late-night Healers on duty at the office at the end of the ward. Leaving the dim lit hallways of the wards and entering the dark office hallways, Nedy felt relieved knowing her day was ending. A little later than she might have wanted, maybe, but after she ran out on a patient earlier when he'd cut himself on his lunch tray and disappeared for an hour on top of that, she'd felt it necessary to at least try and put some more effort in for the day.

As she neared the turn in the hallway that lead down to her closet of an office, Kennedy slowed, eyes narrowing. Stepping to the wall, she pressed against it, inching along to the corner cautiously. One always needed to be cautious with corners; it was nearly impossible to predict what sort of terrible things could lay wait for you around them. Peeking around to see if the coast was clear, Nedy squeaked and pulled back quickly.

Checking again to make sure what she’d seen the first time was accurate, Nedy sighed, resting momentarily against the wall. It truly was all clear. Mentally scolding herself as she did every time for her silly paranoia, she pulled herself off the walk and walked around the corner and-

BAM!- right smack into someone who’d appeared out of no where.

And they try and call Nedy crazy. Pft.

Julian De Winter - December 9, 2008 12:22 PM (GMT)
Julian was working late, watching over a couple of dragon keepers afflicted with burns of dragonfire. The last three hours had been critical and he and the rest of his team had finally stabilised the two men. After chatting for several moments to the care healers and leaving further instructions, Julian had decided to take a well earned break. . Removing the sterile robes he placed them in a sparkling blue flame which incinerated them instantly before he washed his hands, changed into a fresh set of robes and headed off down the corridor. Reaching one of the magically locked doors at the end of the hallway, he pushed it open and left the unit and walked into the lift pushing the button for the canteen.

The lift carried him swiftly downwards and he stepped through the doors and into the corridor. The canteen was down the corridor at the end and his long limbs ate up the distance in a few steps. He reached a junction and started to cross the space when a figure slammed into him. The dark haired healer stepped back from the impact and shook his head to clear the burst of stars that swam before his eyes as the girl's head slammed against his chin. He managed to stay upright and with quick presence of mind, he put out his hands to stop the other from falling to the hard floor.

"OW!" He said loudly as he steadied the girl with one strong arm. "go easy!" He cautioned in soft tones as he leant back at looked down from his height of 6'2.
