Title: Your Friendly Neighbor And Witch!
Description: April Rutledge

April Rutledge - January 20, 2009 06:27 PM (GMT)

Welcome to After Graduation! Why don't you tell us a little about yourself?

Let's see, names is it? My parents gave me the name Rachel, but you know, after a while it gets all jumbled into things like Rach or Rachie. Pretty laid-back about nicknames, so have at! :D Recently graduated from high school (joy!) and absolutely torn in two about what sort of major I want to pursue. Obviously I enjoy writing immensely, and reading is another favorite past-time. I am a concert-violinist and I reeeeally love cooking. Except, don't ask me to make anything with ginger in it, because most likely I'll burn it.

We love you already. <3

Now that you've told us about yourself, why don't you tell us about your character? Here's a quick summary sheet to make it easy.

Describe your character in less than a paragraph.
Intense, focused, and subtle. I'd say April is a mix between bookish-geek and mad romantic. She's very interested in her surroundings and eager to be apart of the main-stream magical community. If there's anything she adores, it's her work, which is really more like a personal hobby to her. Though she interested in people, it's usually you that would need to make the first advance to even hold a conversation with her. Very mouse-like mannerisms and bashful behavior.

What's your posting style like?
As far as style goes, I believe in quality over quantity. Four page posts don't necessarily mean there's anything good mixed in. I'm fairly good with keeping up to date with my responses, I think. I haven't been at this for awhile, so it may take me a little bit to get the creative juices flowing again. If you find yourself waiting on me to post, don't worry, I'm probably just taking pains to make sure everything is precise. Smidge of a perfectionist when it comes to writing. I never just throw up a post unless I'm in a rush.

What sort of plots or roleplays are you interested in? Serious or light? Long-term or short?
I'm welcome to any sort of plots, actually! I haven't yet really thought up a good plan for April, so any ideas that come to mind where she might be useful would be excellent! In terms of my own preferences, I'm more in favor of long-term roles that don't require constant creative attention. *Grin*

Fantastic! Now I hope you've prepared yourself. You're about to be bombarded with welcomes and thread requests from many wonderful roleplayers.

I like you. And believe me--that's rare, I'm either discerning or arrogant, depending on whom you ask. I like that you prefer quality to quantity, in particular--I agree! I love short, well-written posts. I'm not too serious, though, I like comedy, situational comedy, etc. (you'll find most AGers do wonderfully with both drama and comedy, it's an amazing place). I'm Sam, by the way. I'm glad you've joined; I think you'll really like it here. The board ethos seems in accordance with yours.

Anyway! I do my best plotting via PM, AIM or MSN (hit me up over any of those if you'd like to plot), but I'll throw out a few ideas here, if you like. I can think of about three characters I could use with April.

Cal Ferox (this account): 30-year-old Squib time transfiguration/potions expert, supremely socially awkward man, drug addict, and criminal (he works for terrorist Shallah Kosa, the Syndicate, worked for Garrow on the preliminary equations for the Fourth Unforgivable...), and Jasper Christie's boyfriend, though that's on the downlow and separate from his work. Not sure how they could meet, but since they're similarly dedicated to theory, I'm sure I can work something up; Cal's not an expert in everything, despite his startling neglect of any life outside of his work for the past ten years. Anyway, he doesn't go around with a 'hey, I'm a criminal' badge, and he has a legitimate lab at Cambridge, lectures occasionally, stuff like that. If you like, I'm sure I can think of something.

Elior 'E.B.' Braun; 25-year-old bumbling, very good-hearted Auror. He gets on well with everyone, really, if they can cope with his good-natured lack of tact and general effusiveness. And his interest in Muggle things--but not how they work, just how he can best use them for entertainment. His only weakness is his persistent belief in the best of people; he still thinks fellow former Gryffindor Ed Garrow is innocent. Poor fellow. Oh, and he's only just broken off an awkward relationship with fellow Auror Constance Fallon, which bewildered him deeply (she has complicated 'feelings' and 'emotions,' whatever those are). He's my most light-hearted character.

Nick Preston: He's a therapist. He's a Muggle. He's fully integrated into the Wizarding world because his son and ex-wife are Magical. I'm mostly using him for therapy. If you want April to get some of that, feel free to pop in anytime, I have an OOC open-door policy for him.

Anyway, welcome again to AG!

Hullo Sam! Hurray, I'm liked! It's nice being liked. :P What a sigh of relief though! Personally I think I'm awful at writing anything -too- dramatic, unless forced of course! So it's wonderful to know that comedic options are available! :D

I think perhaps E.B. Braun would be our best bet as a starter. April would be friendly enough with him, and since they both work at the Ministry I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to bump into each other! Maybe we could plot a bit more about that through PM/AIM (rosieredrachie) if you'd like!

As for Cal, there's probably something there, too. April is very into experimentation and exploration of magical discoveries of all sorts. And she's a bit naive about it, not really caring about what she's experimenting per-say, it's more for the sake of the end results, so I doubt she'd really even be bothered by his criminal involvement or work.

For Preston, other than some strange meeting, I'm not sure how else he would fit with April. She probably wouldn't be caught dead in therapy since there's really not much too talk about, besides stress at work, which, I admit, may lead to her visiting him down the line. :D

Thanks for the pleasant welcomes! I'm terribly excited to get a'posting with you all! :)

Hi Rachel!

Welcome to AG. Always thrilled to welcome new members! I'm Lee, a tragic underachiever who only plays on character on site, Atlas Caedmon.

Hes something of an eccentric weirdo but a lot of fun depending on what kind of mood you find him in. Hes wary of anyone connected with the Ministry on account of them being 'the man' and him being a conspiracy theorist but he might not mind April so much. Lots of different people come to SHOP looking for rare and or illegal magical items so maybe April could stop by and look for something.

Recently Atlas assisted Carmen Snidgeton in breaking into the department of mysteries and is working on trying to unravel the 4th unforgivable in his basement with the help of his pet skeleton Rudolph.

I'd love to do some plot with April, my SN is SHUTupPossum337 or you can PM me. Welcome to AG I think you'll enjoy it. The members here are really top notch.

Hi to you too, Lee!

Hey, hey, none of that underachiever business! You'll get me feeling self-conscience about my own one-character status!

Atlas sounds great. I adore that name by the way. I'll PM you later and maybe we can figure something out! :D
