Title: I Need A Life, Not A Job

Kaylee Standford - May 19, 2009 07:04 PM (GMT)
The clouds lightly covered up the sun so only a little bit of sunlight was able to escape into the eyes of those on the Earth walking below it. Looking up at the sky, Kaylee snickered and kept on walking towards St. Mungos Hospital where she was to start another long shift of healing people, it wasn't like she disliked her job, because she truly loved it. She did enjoy helping people, well wizards and witches, it was more of the fact that it was a nice day and instead of living some what of a normal life she was stuck inside, once more.

Opening the doors to the hospital, she walked on in, and kept her head down so she could escape to the employee lounge without notice. If she was going to make it through the day she was going to need to coffee, and lots of it. It was days like this when she could easily get depressed and instead of sulking around she wanted to try to make the best of the day at work. If it was up to her she would find some type of medicine that would make her throw up so she could get out of working, but what kind of healer would that make her? A bad one. So she quickly threw the idea out of the window.

Sitting down quickly in the lounge she sipped on her hot coffee. It wasn't as good as lattes were, but at least she was getting her caffeine fix. Checking her watch she realized that it was time for her to be on the floor. Chugging the rest of the coffee, as it burned her throat, she tossed the cup away and headed back toward the locker room area so she could change into her uniform and be off.

Heading out onto the floor, she walked past her usual rooms so she could see who was still there and who wasn't. Smiling to herself as she peeked into what she called Mrs. Greene's room she seen the older lady laying in the hospital bed. "Mrs. Greene I see your grandchildren have not yet sprung you from the hospital yet," Kaylee said as a smile played across her face and she walked up to the older lady. Out of everyone who has come in and out of St. Mungos, Mrs. Greene was her favorite. It wasn't just that she was old that kept her returning, it was the fact that she allowed her grandsons who were 13 and 14 cast spells on her that they made up or heard about. Snickering as she pictured the old lady bracing for a new spell, Kaylee asked, "How are you today?"

As Mrs. Greene told her that she was great besides the fact that her feet kept growing since the 13 year old, Joe she called him, decided to try a new spell out on her. "I see, I see. Tell Joe he should try being more careful, not that I don't love seeing you here."

After that it was time for Kaylee to finish her rounds and take care of some of the new comers to the hospital before she could even think about taking a break. When that was done, she quickly made her way to the bathroom to freshen up as she took a brief moment to look at herself in the mirror. The lime green uniform really made her hair and eyes pop out, it actually worked for her. Touching up her lip gloss and eye liner, Kaylee plumped her hair up so that her layers would show more and she grabbed her purse and made her way down to the cafeteria area so she could grab some food and relax for the hour.

Artemis Sinistra - May 20, 2009 02:48 AM (GMT)
Arty stormed down one of the hospital's familiar corridors dragging Apollo behind her. Familiar at this point had become a complete understatement, second home was more appropriate. Apollo was as accident prone as they come, mostly because of his tendancy to test Weasley products. Darien Holywell used to be the healer who handled Apollo most of the time. However, since he was now resting as a permanent resident of the upper ward after having his soul ripped away by Garrow's spell, the Sinistra's had been bouncing from healer to healer.

The problem was that very few people had the patience to deal with Apollo and his myriad of bizarre ailments on a weekly (and occasionally daily) basis. However, as the sole magical hospital in London they were inevitably the destination of choice. Today however, St. Mungo's was witness to a rather unusual circumstance, even for the Sinistra family. Both Apollo and Artemis arrived in the emergency room sporting matching mishaps. Their noses were dripping glue. Apollo as per usual bumbled along looking cheery, and Arty had an unhappy scowl on her face. And this was only partially due to the fact that she was battling a runny nose that caused tissues to cement to her face.

They had been in the waiting room for over an hour and a half, and the receptionist had been less than friendly. It was probably because Apollo has skeeved out of a date with her last weekend to go to a concert with some model named Giselle. And now the girl insisted that all of the healers were simply too busy to see them right now. Determined to bypass the girl, Artemis and Apollo went to the one place in the hospital where they were guartanteed to find at least one Healer at all times, the cafeteria.

As predicted just as they approached the cafe they spotted a young woman in the characteristic blinding green robes of the healer.

"Excuze be!" Arty called sounding ridiculous through her blocked nasal passage way. She had to breath through her mouth since her nose was effectively glued shut.

"Pwease can you help us. Can't breath. Nose glued shut. Idiot here's fault." Here she paused to glare accusingly at her brother. "A spell!"

"Tell her what you did." She said stopping to gasp for a breath.

Apollo Sinistra - May 20, 2009 03:45 AM (GMT)
Artemis was taking things completely out of hand - it wasn't as though she hadn't known he was going to place an untested spell on her. For all the common sense it was proclaimed his sister had she never seemed to think before she asked him for things. Such as today they had closed the shop and were working on creating some back stock. He had been trying to glue on a couple embellishments to a hat and realized that he had left the glue upstairs in his room.

Being a naturally chap and thinking a simple accio spell to complicated Apollo took matters into his own hands - he simply was going to invent his own glue spell. As there was nothing in sight and he did have a rather glum winter cold it didn't take long for him to decide where and how the glue could be created. Two minutes later his beak of a nose was being used to artfully apply feathers to some tanks he had picked up on Petticoat Lane the other day.

Mere moments after he had finished with them his sister asked for some glue. Rather than disgust her overly sensitive nerves an offer her his nose he had simply preformed the spell on his twin. Regretfully she had seemed less than amused. After demanding he remove the spell from them both before they both suffocated - to say that she was less than amused when he told her that a counter spell had yet to be developed and he wasn't going to bother with one till he was done with project would be an understatement.

Hence his current position trailing behind her at St. Mungos. Really he could have told her that Mary Sue hadn't taken his change of plans lightly and thus it was best to let him come up with the counterspell in his own time. But no. Arty was Arty and would not be stopped and was on a full fledged run to the cafeteria.

Not that he minded, he was rather fond of the food there and there was a rather cute witch that worked the dessert section he had been meaning to ask out. Now would be the best possible time! Arty could find someone with the cure and he could get tomorrow nights date. Genius!

However the glitter god was thwarted from making his way to the dazzling dessert girl's side (the one that looked oddly like Daphne) and pulled in front of a lovely sight in green. Arty said some angry words and made some angry hand gestures but Apollo was to busy making eyes at a healer he had yet to be introduced to. St. Mungo's never stopped being filled with surprises!

An angry scowl jolted him out of his musings. "Tell her what you did."

Apollo gave the woman his best smile while doing his best to breath out of his mouth slyly at the same time. Glue did make it harder to keep with the vouge habit of breathing though one's nose. "First she muz tell name!" he managed, not realizing how difficult it was to speak till now. Things had gone better when he was keeping his nose moist and in use. "Swimple swell. Just did a bit of this and that to a sticking charm and applied it to mucus so it wouldn't dry up to fast." He paused, trying to catch his breath. "You look lovely in green." He finished, earning himself a good kick in the shins from his kind and caring sister.

Sitting at a table directly next to a window, Kaylee sat twirling her spoon in her coffee which she had added extra, extra sugar to. She could barely find a reason to keep her at the hospital that day. After finishing up her morning rounds she could tell it was going to be a rather boring afternoon. So far there were only two admittance into the hospital and one out patient who had passed through the doors. And both were not even slightly interesting.

As she began to eat her food she realized just how much she missed her mothers cooking. Home made food not take out or this rubish that she was trying to chew. Sitting it back down she pushed the tray to the other end of her four person table and went back to her coffee. Looking out the window she watched as several people passed by and she couldn't help but smile as she watched a family who were singing some old show tune about the Brady Bunch, whatever that was, and they looked truly happy. Happy was something she hadn't been able to grasp for awhile, yes she looked happy and she seemed happy but she knew that she really wasn't. There was so much recently missing from her life, like friends. But that wasn't what was bothering her at that moment, it was a girl, who couldn't have been much older then her yelling for her help. As her and a guy neared her she couldn't help but laugh at the way the girl was talking.

Turning away from her coffee, Kaylee looked up at what appeared to be a bad spell. "I think I may just be able to help you out," she told the girl, "As long as I know exactly how this happened," she said snickering. So much for it being a boring day, yes she has had much more amusing accidents happen; however, for the day the two people standing in front of her with glue dripping out of their noses topped it.

As the girl told the guy to tell her what happened, Kaylee turned her head towards him, appearantly he had done it to them. Taking a moment to gather herself together she took a few deep breaths so she didn't burst into laughter since it would have been very unprofessional. When he said that first she had to introduce herself Kaylee smiled. "Well I'm Kaylee and appearantly my break is over," she said glad to have a reason not to eat her food.

Standing up she looked around to find someone who could take care of her tray but no one was around so she decided to just leave it on the table for the janitor or someone to clean it up. Leaning over she took one last sip of her coffee, "Alright, well thats simple enough. Lucky for you my favorite patient, Mrs. Greene, has grandsons who likes to do this kind of stuff which means I've seen this mess before," she said in a reassuring tone. She could have fun with it, however, it was her job and fun was not part of it. Pulling her wand out of her over sized pocket in her uniform she waved it in front of the girl and silently made the counter spell out of habit. "All fixed?" she asked the girl.

As she waited for the girl to answer her to know if her counter spell worked she turned toward the guy who was telling her that she looked good in green. Snickering once again she thanked him and said, "I look good in alot of other colors as well but I can't wear them here," she said trying not to laugh as the girl kicked him in the shin. Yes, there was no way to say that her whole day was boring now.

Arty rolled her eyes and thought that only her brother would have the audacity to flirt with a healer while he had glue dripping out of his nose. More importantly at least in Arty's opinion was that he was distracting the healer from stopping the glue that was dripping out of her nose. So she decided to make him shut up in the way only a big sister truly can, she kicked him in the shins.

Finally he decided to start explaining the spell he used. The healer nodded along.

Alright, well thats simple enough. Lucky for you my favorite patient, Mrs. Greene, has grandsons who likes to do this kind of stuff which means I've seen this mess before,"

Arty quirked an eyebrow at that comment. She had seen something like this before? Who thought that turning their grandmother's snot into glue was an excellent way to spend their sunday afternoon? Sure she and Apollo had transfigured their grandmother's lemon tea into vinegar, or dyed her hair neon green. But they were harmless fun pranks spurred on by her husband. At this point Iris Sinistra was more concerned when someone wasn't trying to prank her. Nevertheless, they had never sent her to the hospital.

"That's reassuring..." She trailed off uncertainly.

But the healer pulled her wand out of her pocket and waved it silently in Arty's face. She reflexively blinked, having a wand waved in your face was always a bit disconcerting.

"All fixed?"

She tried to breath through her nose, but it was still blocked by residual glue. She pulled a fresh tissue from her pocket and blew her nose. Cleared of the glue she realized that she could breath again without her nostrils pasting themselves closed.

"I can breath!"

The healer smiled and turned to Apollo who was now complimenting her on her rather atrocious healer uniform. Frankly, she always thought the things were a painful eye sore. Though this particular healer was pretty enough that it hardly detracted from her looks.

Apollo Sinistra - May 28, 2009 02:00 AM (GMT)
Kaylee, Kaylee, Kaylee. She was better looking than Sofia Lawful by far - no where near as serious looking and he hadn't dated a K in a while. K's were always such lovely people to take out on the town. So many great things started with Ks like kream, krystal, karefree, kuddle, kute, killer legs, oh and kandy! And the bands! Kaiser Cheifs, Klaxons, Killers... she certainly had been given a very lovely first letter of her name. Just like Carmen. Why they even had the same name descriptors! Amazing! Brilliant!

In fact Apollo had never dated a Kaylee. Maybe maybe he would have to ask her what she was dong later tonight. Did she look more like a gig or club girl? Better yet where there any gigs going on in a club? Lady GaGa was back in the country and she was sure to bring both elements together and take his next bout of fashion advice to boot! He was going to have to ask her when his nose was fixed.

Apollo was drawn out of his musings on the lovely healer in front of him as Artemis cried out happily that she could breathe. Well he couldn't, and it wasn't cause of the glue in his nasal cavity, but the beauty in front of him.

"I look good in a lot of other colors as well but I can't wear them here,"

Had he been paying attention he would have mimicked the spell she had just used and cleared himself of the glue. Instead Apollo gave her yet another lopsided grin and resisted the urge to mimic Wendell. A corny pick up line concerning her what color he was absolutely sure she looked best in would never do. Never ever. He had been Wendell's wingman to have learned that lesson well.

Apollo sniffed back a bit of glue, not wanting to talk as oddly as he had last time. "Pity about that. I volunteered to a uniform revamp but I was turned down. I'm sure I would have been able to find a color and cut that was universally flattering - not that you would need it dear, that color looks genius."

He paused, giving a delicate sneeze that sadly with its paste like properties had the effect of gluing his hands closes. "Er... could you work your magic on me? I promise to treat you to a night out on the town." He asked.

It was very hard not to laugh at the two who stood in front her at this point. They were just way to amusing and it was defiantly the thing she needed. She needed something to make her day so that she didn't leave complaining of how boring the days work was. After all, doing the same thing day after day was not fun. But at the same time she should have realized that there could never be a dull day at St. Mungos with so many witches and wizards attempting their own spells or getting angry. It was simply classic, and she shouldn't have let herself be so surprised.

Trying as hard as she could to keep in her laughter until her job was done at least, she took a longing glance back at her coffee. How she needed it to get her through the rest of the day. The black liquid was literally screaming at her. It wanted drank and it wanted drank right then and there. However; looking at the guy who she had not yet fixed she reminded herself that although she was on break she was currently in the middle of a job.

Sighing as she turned away from the tempting white styrofoam cup full of the nice, warm, delicous coffee she held her wand up once more and took care of the guy. Satesfied that she had finished she put her wand away. "I'm glad it worked," she said smiling at the girl. "You can never be to sure these days. With some of the things people come up with, it's just so- so-." she added with a pause, "Well it's so difficult."

At that point she went to finally respond to the remarks that the guy had made. A smile played acrossed her delicate face once more. "This stupid place is so old fashioned. I believe they have had the same uniforms for over a hundred years, or well since it was discovered. Not once have the uniforms changed. If you can get them to change the uniforms then I'm yours for life," she said now letting out the laugh she had held in for so long. Now that she had her job done she was finally able to go back to being on break and it didn't really matter any more with what she did.

Looking around she didn't see anyone else who could possibly need help so she sat back down at her table and took a sip of her coffee. As it flowed down her throat, she glanced once more out the window and then back at the two. "So are you two like married or something?" clearly out of the loop.

It wasn't until she made the comment that she remembered what the guy had last said. "Or related?" and then she nodded toward the chairs across from her for the two to join if they had wanted. After all she loved having company. "Since your fixed," she said to the guy, "I do hold people on their offers so don't think you'll get away with disappearing. I will find you."
