Title: Magic Time, Whut?
Description: [Adventures with Alexandra Eelanor!]
Alexandra Eelanor - June 16, 2009 02:29 AM (GMT)
Welcome to After Graduation! Why don't you tell us a little about yourself?
Hello my name is Jesse and I am a-Hokay- maybe that's the wrong intro. Either way... My name is Jesse and I -am- quite a few things. First and foremost, I love the hufflepuffs. It's my firm belief that JK Rowling Shafted the Hufflepuffs because she is a player hater on their gangster ways. Susan Bones is a straight up gangster. She's got the 401 on the down low. Don't even get me started on Justin Finch-Fletchley. I mean- just listen to their motto!
These belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal.
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil.
See what I mean? Totally gangster.
Other than that... I'm silly, roleplay a bit too much for it to be healthy [upon joining here I am now on.. 5 sites.. 3 of which I am a [insert fabulous descriptive word here] staff person. I'm waaay glad to find a harry potter site where I don't have to figure out all sorts of weird coding and graphics and have my name in all lowercases. More on the roleplaying too much vein- I've been rping since I was 10. I started not with harry potter or vampires or something cool like that, but instead... beanie babies. Not just any sort of beanie babies rp however- we were secret agents that were code named after beanie babies if you were on one side, and the other kinds if you were on the other side. We were fabulous and wrote things like this
*FLIP STARED AT STEG MADLY* "STOP IT!"
See? all caps are awesome. Especially in conversations between cats and dinosaurs filled with beans whilst jumping out of planes. Don't worry though- I've graduated from that sort of writing. <3
In real life I'm a fashion design major who reads too many comics, goes to too many fashion shows, and sometimes ends up at too many comic conventions for it to be healthy. I'm a Texan too so sometimes that might sneak into my OOC conversation. Also... I love putting letters into the wrong order subconsciously. Some people call this dyslexia; I call it letter randomization and keeping people on their toes.
I'm also very talkative... if you couldn't tell by this lovely little essay on the world of Jesse. So if you ever get bored and want to have random discussions about Hugh Jackman's sparkly pineapple shirt.. hit me up. I promise to make your day have just a little more flair.
We love you already. <3
Now that you've told us about yourself, why don't you tell us about your character? Here's a quick summary sheet to make it easy.
Describe your character in less than a paragraph.Alexandra's a fairly reticent Auror who's got more interest in work than anything else. Not that she's not a nice girl, mind you. Just.. she forgets that there is stuff outside of work that often includes boys, dinners, and the occasional quidditch match. Friendly without being overly cheerful, Awkward in anything but Auror business.. if your character wants to have a fun time of attempting to get her to not focus on auror business I'm down. If your character wants to kick in some auror face.. I'm down. Really- I'm up for anything that doesn't go outside her personality.
What's your posting style like?Really? I've been goin' at this long enough that I can fall into whatever is needed/wanted. On my own however I tend to focus on a happy medium of thoughts and action. Like.. walking to the store whilst contemplating the meaning of life and looking at stray dogs. Ok- maybe not. But you get the idea, yus? Oh oh, I can post exceptionally fast- 30 minutes is my average for the longish post. I don't usually get muse issues as my muses learned long ago that refusing to cooperate means a real lack of cookies and cake.
What sort of plots or roleplays are you interested in? Serious or light? Long-term or short?I like anything you like. -wink-
Fantastic! Now I hope you've prepared yourself. You're about to be bombarded with welcomes and thread requests from many wonderful roleplayers.
Artemis Sinistra - June 16, 2009 03:39 AM (GMT)
Hello Jesse! Nice to meet you! My name is Arty and when I'm not on AG I'm a history major.
So first the character introductions:
Wendell Darrow: Wendell is a rather well known jack-of-all-trades freelancing sort of criminal. He'll do anything from stealing wedding presents to transporting drugs. But his favorite pass time is hitting on the auror girls (especially Sofia Robards). He was arrested by Ivy Ballantine, but luckily escaped with the help of Sofia. He then faked his own death and mugged Christian Bale for a bit of his hair--overdosed on polyjuice potion and has been forced to walk around looking like Batman ever since (followed by many, many jokes). In his new disguise he pretended to be an american auror and actually joined the MLE where he started dating Sofia (who was unaware of his true identity). But the potion is about to wear off and he's going to be a whole lot of trouble...
Artemis Sinistra: Twin of Apollo Sinistra, she is also co-owner of Sinistra's Secondhand Shop. She is generally considered to be the more level-headed twin. She's quite intelligent. Her claim to fame is her impossibly terrible dating history. The most recent having been Logan Fletcher creator of the fourth unforgiveable. She broke things off with him after the whole fourth unforgiveable thing...but he's worming his way back into her life despite her earnest attempts to continue hating him.
Daphne Honeycutt: Owner of Honeycutt's bakery. Daphne is an extremely bubbly happy sort of person (to the point of being nearly annoying at times). She's a bit niave at times, but firmly believes that baked goods could solve all the worlds problems. And notebly in her near future--her shop will be burnt down by the terrorists.
Cecil Banister: Cecil was born to muggle parents who were Dursleyish to the extreme. After finding out their son was a wizard they locked him up in his room for 15 years and refused to allow him to attend Hogwarts. This obvious had some negative impacts on his mental as wel as magical stability. One day he had a magical outburst that exploded his house. The ministry came and got him...and he was briefly kept in St. Mungo's but eventually released. Now he is a tramp living in Diagon Alley nearly incapable of properly communicating with people.
Lola Davis: She's the gossip columnist for the Daily Prophet. She enjoys partying, gossip, clothes, gossip, men, gossip, and erm...gossip. She's also probably the only employee that the notoriously nasty editor Carmen Snidgeton likes to the smallest degree.
I also have Elizabeth Darrow (sister of Wendell) buuut since I plan on killing and/or sending her away in the near future I feel justified in ignoring her existance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But yeah, clearly Wendell will know Alexandra. (I'm rather excited we have a new BHLer -> Brunette Hottie League if you haven't encountered the term yet...you will a lot, it basically refers to the fact that our aurors are primarily brunette women. I imagine in his normal state he probably hit on her at any and every opportunity available because well...that's what he does. Also he would have worked with her for a few months as Dillan.
But anyway if you're interested in a thread or have any ideas for Wendell or any of them really let me know! I'd be up for it.
Alexandra Eelanor - June 16, 2009 04:01 AM (GMT)
Wendell- For the most part, I imagine that she'd attempt at avoiding him. She's not the best when it comes to being hit on and it generaully makes her get all squibbly. So met with a situation where she -couldn't- avoid him.. things could probably get interestingly funny. Or at the very least.. humorously awkward on her behalf.
Lola Davis- Could be an interesting meeting as they're as opposite as.. well, everything that's ever been opposite. Like some sort of random event that Alexandra ends up attending in order to watch out for nasty terrorists and somehow manages into a conversation/at the same table with Lola.
Daphne- Ohoh! Both graduated the same year as hufflepuffs. They should be friends; Alexandra's not prone to zomg good friends but I think that Daphne's disposition would be the sort that Alexandra would end up good friends with. Especially if they were both in the same house at the same year. Perhaps they were in the same dorm room in the hufflepuff house? I think that could be great fun, especially with the upcoming bakery accident. <3
Cecil- With Alexandra as an Occlumens, if she came across Cecil she'd be inclined to attempt to help him. The effectiveness of course would be questionable but still interesting. I see you've also got an not responded to open thread with the fellow; I'd happily join if you'd like!
Artemis- Alexandra would shop in a second hand shop. Not sure how much real interaction there'd be, but I know that Alexandra would definitely be a regular there.
Fletcher Parish - June 16, 2009 04:37 AM (GMT)
Hullo, Jesse! I'm Bre. I think you and I are going to get along very, very well; you seem like exactly the sort of people I can't wait to get back to in August.
On to the characters:
Fletcher Parish: Fletcher is an elderly man who works at the Daily Prophet as an archivist. He tends to be rather stuck in the past, and can often be found spontaneously lecturing on history. He has a soft spot for young people--Alexandra is about the same age as his grandchildren--and also for Aurors, as his oldest son was one before his death. Moreover, his beloved wife of nearly sixty-five years was a Hufflepuff. He tries to help people as much as he can and enjoys talking with people--when you can keep him from going on about history.
Eltanin Wemyss: Eltanin is a musician for a folk/pirate band called Rovers' Revenge. Generally well-meaning, fairly serious and responsible but with an occasional mad streak, he really enjoys just getting together and singing with friends. He also tends to "mother hen" his friends, especially those younger than himself. He's a couple of years older than Alexandra and he was in a different house, but he had several friends in other years and other houses (including an "adopted sister" in Hufflepuff), so I suppose it's conceivable they'd met.
If you come up with any ideas for plots or interactions or something, just let me know! I'm always up for a good RP.
Alexandra Eelanor - June 16, 2009 04:49 AM (GMT)
Hehe hiya! <3 I definitely like your characters
Fletcher- She'd definitely respect him. Especially with no remaining family of her own, I could definitely see her respecting/listening- even when it comes to history.
Eltanin- I'm not quite sure on a specific.. though perhaps they've met a few times but never really talked and she ends up at some sort of gig of theirs looking for some information. Antics of predetermined sorts happen and they reconnect. Become better friends than the basic acquaintance?
Final note to people postin' after this.. since I'm going to bed and all and jumpin' at rping. Hehe. If anyone wants to start a thread, or have me start a thread while I'm away- don't hesitate to let me know! I'll jump right on it
Will Channing - June 16, 2009 11:49 PM (GMT)
My turn! I am Spiv, and I have several characters to offer you!
Out of sevenish, here are the three characters most likely to interact with Alex:
Will Channing, age 25, is the newly appointed Minister of Magic. Whether his appointment is legitimate or just a rushed attempt to fill a plagued position is debatable, but there's no doubt that he's well-liked by the wizarding community. You’d be hard-put to find someone who hated or even disliked Will Channing. He’s friendly, cheerful and generous, always willing to help out anyone who needs it. He’s a great listener and loves hearing out people’s problems, but he has trouble returning the favor and confiding in his friends.
Constance Fallon, age 24, is a woman recovering from an identity crisis. After the murder of her family, she dedicated six years of her life to the MLE trying to find their killer; but she had no success. After being injured attempting to save late Head of MLE Sioned Baines during a terrorist attack, Con was restricted to desk work. Unable to cope with it, she retired from the MLE and has begun training as a Healer, the occupation she was originally set on. Con has a heart buried somewhere under all her Scottish temper, but she has very little experience with relationships, platonic or otherwise, and so she has a definite barrier up against certain levels of intimacy. She's trying, with limited success, to open up, but being naturally shy to begin with it's not the easiest thing she's ever attempted.
Patrick Everard, age 21, is pretty ambitious, coming from a long line of successful criminals. He is a criminal Jack-of-all-trades, but usually works as a middleman for buyers and sellers of artifacts. Regardless, he's very charismatic and a lot of fun, as long as it's playtime and not business time. He has a job at Dervish and Banges but is also sort of an unofficial curse breaker for the Russian Syndicate, a crime mob operating out of Knockturn Alley. He was sort of dragged into it when they caught him smuggling cursed golden artifacts into England without their say-so. He stays because of his intense feelings for the beautiful mob boss, Aleksandra Mikhaylova.
-----
I also play Lucy Ballantine, Logan Fletcher, and Margot Blanchard.
Anyway! William. He was in Hufflepuff as well, two years ahead of Alex. Will is the kind of person who would be good friends with everyone, and he would take extremely well to Alex. He likes people who are sort of socially awkward and need to be a little bit mothered, haha. He was an Auror too, serving as the Head of Department's assistant for almost six years after graduating from the Auror academy, so I feel like he and Alex would be really tight.
Constance was a year ahead of Alex in Gryffindor, but she also worked on Level 2; she was a secretary for three years before becoming an Auror herself. This bit of plot hasn't been posted yet, but she pretty much just resigned from the MLE; but that still leaves six years of working together. Alex and Con are fairly similar, except that Con has more of a temper; Con similarly had no life outside of her job, but that was because she threw herself into her "revenge" and forgot everything else. Still, I feel like they would have connected on some level, and Con probably prefers Alex to almost everyone else from Level 2 except for Will and Ivy Ballantine, who are her two closest friends to date.
Patrick is a slippery, slippery criminal. He was in Gryffindor, two years behind Alex, so she would have known all about his infamous trouble-making with partner-in-crime Teddy Lupin. The Everards are a famous crime family from Ireland as well, so if Alex did any digging she'd be perfectly right in having suspicions about Patrick's criminal activities--perhaps she makes catching him in something sort of a pet project? Nothing distracting her from anything major, just something she keeps a sharp eye open for. What do you think?
Alexandra Eelanor - June 17, 2009 12:02 AM (GMT)
Will- All of that sounds absolutely perfect. As he's the Minister of Magic now, she'd be fully supportive of everything he enacts and I agree that the two would be very good friends.
Constance- Alex severely lacks a temper, so I think having a friend with one would definitely end up good for both on either end. Especially after leaving the MLE, Alex would be all kinds of worried about Constance and check up on her often.
Patrick- Digging is always enjoyable and I'd certainly be up for a thread where she stumbles in on some minor criminal fun. Perhaps she could think she's after something much grander and when this specific go turns out not to be, she concludes to keep a close eye on him.
Roscoe Blaine - June 17, 2009 12:26 AM (GMT)
I love the title. <3 Welcome once again to AG! We've very happy to have you! :)
So, you clearly don't have enough characters to RP with yet, and I have several to offer myself. First and foremost:
Ivy Ballantine, a feisty Irish hit witch with a knack for getting in trouble. She's currently living in London with her daughter, a product of her former marriage to Ed Garrow, and is quite wrapped up in establishing a peaceful, secure life for her Kendra. Exciting. She's friends with Will and Constance at the office but can't stand Sofia. She's extremely friendly and outgoing, but also has a black and white worldview and looks down on weakness of character. I imagine that she would feel compelled to take Alex and Con out for a little BHL-style partying, to loosen both of them up.
Dermot (Derry) Ballantine, Ivy's responsible and goodly older brother who is more or less a Gary Stu. We love him in spite of his lack of flaws. He works in law and is a sort of go-between for the UK wizarding government and Ireland, where he wants to return someday. Alex may bump into him at some point. He would be a good person to turn to for help if it were ever needed.
Carmen Snidgeton, the Snidge, the Dragon Lady, the Editor in Chief of the Daily Prophet. She is a cruel and calculated woman and the thumb under which everyone else suffers. She's currently pregnant with the children of the man she hates more than anyone else on the planet, Apollo Sinistra. Basically, she'll be even more grouchy than usual and would be happy to destroy Alex's life if she got the chance. Nothing personal, it's just what Carmen does.
Roscoe Blaine, a muggle who is about to become Will Channing's boyfriend. Except Will doesn't realize he's a muggle. He's another character Alex may run into at some point, especially if she's a big supporter of Will.
I also have Daisy Li and plan to post a few open threads with her soon, but she's pretty much in the air at the moment. Does anyone strike your fancy for a roleplay? :)
Alexandra Eelanor - June 17, 2009 12:39 AM (GMT)
Ivy- Might I say- YES now please? This sounds absolutely hilarious on so many levels.
Derry- definitely keep this in mind! I'm sure I'll be getting Alex into all sorts of trouble because.. well, whats the fun of not getting into trouble.
Carmen- this would definitely make for some interesting events. Alex really might not have much that'll give her the real chance to muck up her life.. but this is papers.. fact and little-less-than-fact are only a word switch of a difference, right?
Roscoe- Alex is a definite big supporter of Will so I certainly imagine the two would've encountered. She'll love the fact that he's a muggle, once it actually comes to knowledge.
Artemius Baxby - June 17, 2009 04:09 AM (GMT)
By people she can't wait to get back to in August, Bre means me. And I don't mean that in a conceited way -- you sound crazy, just like me. Even I have slight of hand dyslexia (I blame inattention on my internal editor's part). As it is, I am seeing a lot of the same traits in you as me... if that's good or bad, we shall have to see, yes?
As of yet, I have two characters: Artie and Griselda.
Artemius Baxby is a disillusioned young man whose world quite literally fell apart during the dreaded week. His mother, Elaine Baxby, a trained healer, is in particular a highly seasoned lycanthropologist. For many years, she had a Welsh cottage by the sea (hidden in the Muggle village of Tywyn) that was a converted bed-and-breakfast. It did not hold vacationers, however -- instead, it was home to newly changed lycans (since the whole family has a rule to not refer to them as werewolves, seeing the cruel and animalistic and unfair connotations with the word and "creature" in Wizarding society) and houses them as they adjust to this new way of life, providing them shelter, a loving family setting, Healing care, a sheilded, guarded forest for transformations, as well as the Wolf's Den -- a privately owned cafe that is reserved only for denizens past and present of Baxby Cottage and others of the same affliction. His father, a broker of sorts, also had a workplace in the midst of Tywyn, but when the magicless week came, both were discovered by Muggles and destroyed -- Blake Baxby did not survive, and after a month or so of recovery, Artie and Elaine are managing through her working at St. Mungo's and Baxby getting a boring, yet fairly well paying security job at the Ministry. His change in favours has him rather bitter, and you're liable to hear him grumble about bureaucracy over a rum and cola after hours at the Leaky Cauldron, toting pamphlets to raise money for a new Cottage, or blearily standing guard in the halls of the Ministry.
Griselda Campbell, on the other hand, is completely different. Bright and flamboyant, she exudes sexual confidence, and is often flaunting her ill-gotten fortunes -- she's the author of such novelists as Scottish Rose, Gaelic Geisha and Nile Queen. Unfortunately, before she was a successful novelist, she was a horrid gossip columnist, hidden under a pen name until she was pointed out by her former friend and now hated rival, Rita Skeeter, and had to flee the country for the sake of her name. Now, she is a cougar, preying on the young wizards of England, keeping an eye out for the subject of her next juicy, evil column...
Alexandra Eelanor - June 17, 2009 08:45 AM (GMT)
Huzzah! yes, I'm crazy <3 but in a lovely, non threatening way. But down to brass tacks!
Artemis- Aw! poor guy. Perhaps a run in at the ministry? She rushes through security often to get to work but if prompted she'd definitely spare moments of conversation. She's not the most socially adept of people.. but that certainly doesn't mean she'd ignore someone blearily stnding guard and ask about his day... even if done albeit awkwardly.
Griselda- She seems like the sort that Alexandra would be exceptionally clunky and awkward around not sure just what to do around someone of older and more sexual confidences. Especially if she's keeping eyes out for juicy columns. Alex would avoid her for sure but if stuck in a situation that'd end in conversation, there'd be lots of rambling and 'uh...'
Artemius Baxby - June 18, 2009 03:08 AM (GMT)
He'd appreciate the conversation. See "
Security" for what I'm talking about. Mind, he isn't usually that grumpy. Just when he has to work. Manners are a big thing -- he was raised rather old fashioned (something he got from me). If you're Fletcher Parish, it's a bonus. Ivy Ballentine? Makes him a bit short. Not to mention it's insanely boring doing security (I've done it). For some reason, he brings out the cynicism and dissatisfaction in me. When I originally wrote him, he was a really nice, easygoing, friendly guy. And he is, still, but you gotta get through that shell of overall grumpiness. He opens up a bit more when you get to know him, so a friendly relationship at work would not go amiss.
As for Griselda... yeah, I get that a lot. She might be too forceful a character. She's still new. *scratches head about what to do with this crazy chick*
If you like, we can do something akin to "Security". PM me, let me know what you think.
