Title: Bonjour!

Phoebe Mills - June 16, 2009 09:53 PM (GMT)

Welcome to After Graduation! Why don't you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Kayla! I'll be 20 next month and have been rping for about 7 years. I live in the Eastern US. I own my own post-potter site and have rped on many hp sites over the years. I've had a minor obsession with using victoria secret's angels as my pbs lately (adriana lima, alessandra ambrosio, and now miranda kerr). When I do play boys, I like to make them gentleman. The flower-giving charming type. I love bad-girls though too and have been on a bit of a rampage with my Slytherins evil ladies. I'm really detailed in my backgrounds and such. I always research things and try to make sure my posts fit as well as they can into the world the rp is in. Hmmm. I also speak French and occasionally I make french characters to make myself smile! =]

We love you already. <3

Now that you've told us about yourself, why don't you tell us about your character? Here's a quick summary sheet to make it easy.

Describe your character in less than a paragraph.
My character Phoebe is a new one I created for this site. She's a graduate of Hufflepuff, 23 years old, quarter-blood witch. Her father was a muggle-born ex-Hufflepuff who was taken to prison by snatchers when she was one and who died a few weeks after his capture. Her mother is a half-blood ex-Gryffindor Mediwitch who fought in the battle of Hogwarts and lived (minus a couple fingers). She grew up as an only child with a single parent and was glad to get to school. She was in the gobstones club, a prefect for a year, and did well on the seven OWL exams and NEWTS she took. Her best subjects were Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. She's currently working in the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee but she's not sure what she wants to do with the rest of her life. She's compassionate, loyal, stubborn, and emotional.

What's your posting style like?
On a good post, it takes about 5-10 minutes for me to respond since I'm easily distracted and pause a lot. Otherwise, I never leave it more than a few hours or a day if I'm busy. The length of my posts are usually three paragraphs or at the minimum a very beefy two. I tend to focus on thoughts and surroundings over actions and I've spent so much time on what's going on that I've forgotten to write anything verbal and had to go back and edit! =p.

What sort of plots or roleplays are you interested in? Serious or light? Long-term or short?
I'm really okay with any sort of plot. I'd probably like to start with something light and then work into something a bit more serious. I'd also like her to have a female roommate to live in the flat in London with her if anyone is interested.

Fantastic! Now I hope you've prepared yourself. You're about to be bombarded with welcomes and thread requests from many wonderful roleplayers.

Will Channing - June 16, 2009 11:33 PM (GMT)
Hello, Kayla! I am Spiv, one of the site's co-admin, and I also will be 20 next month. Huzzah! Anyway, I have many, many characters on this site, but since not all of them will be quite relevant to Phoebe I will only put up the ones with clear plot possibilities.

Will Channing, age 25, is the newly appointed Minister of Magic. Whether his appointment is legitimate or just a rushed attempt to fill a plagued position is debatable, but there's no doubt that he's well-liked by the wizarding community. You’d be hard-put to find someone who hated or even disliked Will Channing. He’s friendly, cheerful and generous, always willing to help out anyone who needs it. He’s a great listener and loves hearing out people’s problems, but he has trouble returning the favor and confiding in his friends.

Constance Fallon, age 24, is a woman recovering from an identity crisis. After the murder of her family, she dedicated six years of her life to the MLE trying to find their killer; but she had no success. After being injured attempting to save late Head of MLE Sioned Baines during a terrorist attack, Con was restricted to desk work. Unable to cope with it, she retired from the MLE and has begun training as a Healer, the occupation she was originally set on. Con has a heart buried somewhere under all her Scottish temper, but she has very little experience with relationships, platonic or otherwise, and so she has a definite barrier up against certain levels of intimacy. She's trying, with limited success, to open up, but being naturally shy to begin with it's not the easiest thing she's ever attempted.

Patrick Everard, age 21, is pretty ambitious, coming from a long line of successful criminals. He is a criminal Jack-of-all-trades, but usually works as a middleman for buyers and sellers of artifacts. Regardless, he's very charismatic and a lot of fun, as long as it's playtime and not business time. He has a job at Dervish and Banges but is also sort of an unofficial curse breaker for the Russian Syndicate, a crime mob operating out of Knockturn Alley. He was sort of dragged into it when they caught him smuggling cursed golden artifacts into England without their say-so. He stays because of his intense feelings for the beautiful mob boss, Aleksandra Mikhaylova.

Wesley Coleman, 50, is...very hard to describe. He's a freelance journalist who likes to write satirical pieces that only he finds the humor in because it either offends people or goes over their heads. His conversation is much the same way; he's a jovial and fun-loving jokester, but his jokes are usually made at the expense of other people. He's going to be waging a journalistic war on Carmen Snidgeton on behalf of Will Channing. The Snidge will be writing slanderous articles about the new Minister of Magic, who is in her opinion "too young and too homosexual" to be a good leader. Wesley will be taking up Will's defense through a rival paper, though he won't be doing it out of any love for the man--his goal will only be to annoy Carmen.

I also play Lucy Ballantine, Logan Fletcher and Margot Blanchard. But let's go with what we have!

Will is a former Hufflepuff himself, two years ahead of Phoebe, so they would certainly know each other, and probably be good friends. Will is the kind of person who is pretty much good friends with everyone. If Phoebe is unsure of what she wants to do with her life, perhaps she should join Will's Muggle Relations Policy Reform Committee, haha. We should have a thread with them and he can bring it up? Or something, anyway. Tell me your thoughts!

Con would also know Phoebe, though probably not as well as Will. She was a year ahead of Phoebe in school (in Gryffindor) and though formerly an Auror, now is a Healer-in-Training. They could either run into each other in the course of friendship with Will, or in work situations, or whatever. It'd be great for Con to have a friend who isn't as emotionally closed-off as she is.

I've left Patrick up there because he's generally fun and I'd like to do more with him. He would have been two years behind Phoebe and in Gryffindor, but he was a trouble-maker in school so she'd certainly know who he was, especially if she was a prefect. How's this for an idea: Patrick goes to the Ministry and asks Phoebe out for a drink, then while out for said drink he tries to get her to help him come up with a story to get him out of a mob job?

Wesley...I don't know, haha. I'd like to get some more plottage for him too, but I don't have too many ideas right now. I'm just kind of throwing him out there; if anything strikes you, let me know! ;)

Alexandra Eelanor - June 16, 2009 11:45 PM (GMT)
Hiya! I can definitely feel you on the Victoria Secret models. I went through that.. though now I'm on a gamine kick. <3

Now- onto plotting!

Alexandra is the only character I play since I really just applied here yesterday. However; as both characters are hufflepuffs, in the ministry, same age, and quite similar in personality.. I'd definitely take you up on that roommate business. Other than that... general plottage would be grand. I'm still working out my own place here abouts so I'm sure eventually something grand will come up.

Yay for people! :)

Will: sounds perfect to be Phoebe's friend. She's totally unsure about what to do with her life so them having a thread where he chats with her about it would be perfect!

Con: She'd probably know of her since she knew lots of people in school and had a good amount of friends. Not to mention they used to work on the same level since Phoebe used to be a Wizenmagot receptionist type person. Phoebe would totally strike up a conversation should they run into each other or something. =]

Patrick: I do like that idea with him! I could see them having a funny type of relationship because she's so used to seeing him get into trouble that every time she sees him it's a sort of "what did you do now" thing.

Wes: She could possibly know of him through his writing? they could meet randomly or whatever you wanted!

EDIT: Alex! That would be great. ^_^ Anything would work and yay for roommates.

Artemius Baxby - June 17, 2009 04:12 AM (GMT)
French? That sounds like fun. I speak spanish, but it doesn't fit so well into my characters... I'm going to try and give Griselda a chance to change that, though...

As of yet, I have two characters: Artie and Griselda.

Artemius Baxby is a disillusioned young man whose world quite literally fell apart during the dreaded week. His mother, Elaine Baxby, a trained healer, is in particular a highly seasoned lycanthropologist. For many years, she had a Welsh cottage by the sea (hidden in the Muggle village of Tywyn) that was a converted bed-and-breakfast. It did not hold vacationers, however -- instead, it was home to newly changed lycans (since the whole family has a rule to not refer to them as werewolves, seeing the cruel and animalistic and unfair connotations with the word and "creature" in Wizarding society) and houses them as they adjust to this new way of life, providing them shelter, a loving family setting, Healing care, a sheilded, guarded forest for transformations, as well as the Wolf's Den -- a privately owned cafe that is reserved only for denizens past and present of Baxby Cottage and others of the same affliction. His father, a broker of sorts, also had a workplace in the midst of Tywyn, but when the magicless week came, both were discovered by Muggles and destroyed -- Blake Baxby did not survive, and after a month or so of recovery, Artie and Elaine are managing through her working at St. Mungo's and Baxby getting a boring, yet fairly well paying security job at the Ministry. His change in favours has him rather bitter, and you're liable to hear him grumble about bureaucracy over a rum and cola after hours at the Leaky Cauldron, toting pamphlets to raise money for a new Cottage, or blearily standing guard in the halls of the Ministry.

Griselda Campbell, on the other hand, is completely different. Bright and flamboyant, she exudes sexual confidence, and is often flaunting her ill-gotten fortunes -- she's the author of such novelists as Scottish Rose, Gaelic Geisha and Nile Queen. Unfortunately, before she was a successful novelist, she was a horrid gossip columnist, hidden under a pen name until she was pointed out by her former friend and now hated rival, Rita Skeeter, and had to flee the country for the sake of her name. Now, she is a cougar, preying on the young wizards of England, keeping an eye out for the subject of her next juicy, evil column...
