History:
Celeste was spoiled beyond redemption at a very young age. Her father was the Minister of Magic and her mother was Head of International Relations. She grew up in a family with Pureblood ancestry and a long standing tradition of holding positions in the Ministry. She grew up in an atmosphere of fame and influence and money. There was nothing she couldn’t have and what money couldn’t buy, she learnt that a sweet disposition could. Add to the equation two older brothers with a large age gap (from her mother’s first marriage) with a protective stance and she was sorted for life.

Celeste is her mother’s daughter, truly. True to Pureblood custom, Genevieve’s two marriages were based on the following in order of priority - 1. Ancestry, 2. Power, 3. Money. The Darrieux line had a tendency of bringing magically powerful wizards into the world, making the first marriage very productive. Le Cordier the same with the added incentive of marrying into the oldest of French lines. Combine this with the Beaumanoir line with their Ultra tendencies and a dedication to the Ancien Regime despite modern times and you get a very conservative right wing family. A perfect breeding ground for future fascists.

Celeste’s education began before Beauxbatons. She had been exposed to the fickle social scene from a very tender age and drilled with all the ceremonies to ensure approval. She had balls to attend almost every weekend and was a constant dinner companion whenever important personnel dined with the family. To aide her further she was made to be well acquainted with language and so is fluent in English, Spanish, Russian and German. It was a strange combination of an old gentlewoman’s education and an indoctrination in Pureblood politics.

When she entered Beauxbatons she already had contacts with every family of consequence. She made many alliances during her time at school as well as excelling in her studies. She also enjoyed reigning over school politics as Head Girl in her last year. This gave her a head for politics and she rather fancied having a go at it, in keeping with family tradition. Her father’s spot as Minister looked very welcoming now.

After graduation, Celeste took up the position in the Ministry in the Diplomatic Service with her mother’s influence, but her main goal was taking her father’s place. His death would not ensure the position going to her but perhaps her merit and connection too him would snatch it up. He died when she was 25, but the mantle did not pass to her. To her anger and dismay, her half-brother Ernest was elected unanimously. She settled, for the moment, as the French Ambassador in the Magical Embassy in England. She had to get away from her brother and lick her wounds.

However, even ties by blood cannot stop her from scheming. Always at the back of her mind she is searching for a way to remove her brother from office and put her in his place. Easier said than done, certainly. Removing him is too easily done but getting in is another matter. All she can do is bide her time and do her duty well so that she may serve as a worthy candidate.

That, or she waits until an unseen opportunity arises in England.

Personality:
If there’s on thing that drives Celeste, it’s personal glory. She has the insatiable need for recognition and praise and she’ll achieve it by any means fair or foul. She will use people as resources and rarely ever make an emotional attachment to anyone unless they flatter her ego sufficiently. For Celeste, there is nothing in her mind that she cannot attain what with her appearance, knowledge and influence and so she needs people around her to keep her in check for when she does go power mad. Unfortunately, most don’t keep her in check and if they try, her own judgement is infinitely more important.

If she was ever given the opportunity to seize absolute power, she would, no matter the consequences. She would sacrifice her honour, her friends, her family even her soul just to attain it.

She can’t do anything when she doesn’t feel good. She is easily swayed by her own emotions and is passionate and feels deeply about situations. Her actions are unpredictable and she acts on impulses; if she deems something worthy of pursuit then he is set. She dramatizes her suffering to make herself appear righteous and to justify herself and is a complete and utter narcissist.

Celeste is frighteningly aware of how people perceive her and is very in tune with her outward appearance. She comes across as very sensual and almost spiritual what with the gravity of the air around her. She is persuasive by numerous means, depending on the person, and at the drop of the hat she can be enticing or modest or just plain agreeable. The way she conducts herself is very much based on the notion that ‘a true diplomat can tell someone to go to hell and make them look forward to the trip.’

Celeste, from years of repressing her conscious, has lost a part of herself. She has failed as an individual because she failed to find her own unique moral ground. Sometimes this occurs to her and she lapses into an identity crisis. The only way she can temporarily relieve this is by placing greater emphasis on her appearance which she takes to be the true incarnation of identity.
