History:
Artemis Sinistra was born approximately eight minutes before her “little brother” entered the world. As per tradition in the Sinistra family she was named for a Greek god or goddess of the sky. Her father was named Boreas Sinistra, and by a stroke of luck he married a woman named Diana. Her mother had not been entirely content with naming her daughter Artemis; she thought the tradition was peculiar. But as Artemis was a variation of her own name, she eventually acquiesced. After Artemis, there came Apollo, and while Artemis wasn’t entirely enthusiastic about her name Apollo hated his. Nevertheless the twins grew up quite close, with Artemis being the slightly more focused and responsible of the two.
Apollo was a bit of a troublemaker from his youngest years. However he tended to have a love for the cheap tricks that always got him in trouble. Artemis on the other hand liked to plan her pranks out to the minutest detail, which took a lot longer but she rarely got caught, and the results were always spectacular. She being the more level headed of the two, made it her duty to keep her brother grounded and out of trouble as much as she could manage. Although they had their occasional tiffs, they over all got along surprisingly well.
When she arrived at Hogwarts she was saddened but not overly surprised when she and her brother were sorted into different houses. Apollo went into Slytherin undoubtedly because of his cunning abilities as a prankster, and Artemis became a Ravenclaw. However, this did not alter their strong bond in the least. It was not uncommon for one or the other to abandon their house table at meal times in order to sit with each other. And they were more often than not seen gallivanting though the halls of Hogwarts together.
Throughout her time at Hogwarts Artemis had had an admirer or two. Nothing out of the ordinary though, and she hadn’t really minded. She was a bit strange, but fit in far better than her brother. He had grown into the antithesis of his namesake, a raven-haired prankster, slightly androgynous, and with an affinity for the muggle Mod and Goth fashions. That’s not to say that he was unpopular, he had his own niche of friends, and was more or less liked by most of the school. Usually however, he was the source of gossip for the school. While Apollo would come to his sister for homework help, Artemis deferred to her brother when it came to fashion. Most of her classmates found it odd that she and her brother actually enjoyed going shopping with each other. She had more than one person question her brother’s sexuality, and like in all situations she quickly jumped to his defense. He liked girls and fashion. He was strange, funny, and most importantly her “little” brother. More than once she had landed in detention for hexing another student over her brother. She knew that Apollo would do the same for her too, or well…he might transfigure them into that new pair of boots he had been eyeing.
(NOTE: I defer to the admin as to whether this next bit is okay or not.)
Upon graduation, it seemed absurd that they should actually split up and lead separate lives. So they naturally ended up working together. They decided to open up a little shop in Diagon Alley, a strange little vintage shop that sells wizarding and muggle things alike. There are clothes and music, and nick knacks of all sorts, the entire shop has a sort of disheveled feel to it, and definitely caters to the younger crowd. They were happily surprised to discover that it began to grow quite popular, as an place to find some awesome stuff, and meet the crazy Sinistra twins who owned it. Artemis naturally took care of the business aspect, while Apollo managed to charm nearly everyone who entered the shop into buying more than they came in for. The two share flat above the shop.
Personality:
With Artemis it’s all relative. Is she excessively quirky or mischievous? Compared to the average person probably yes, compared to her brother definitely not. Sinistra’s have always tended to have an affinity for Astronomy, that’s why they are all named for gods of the sky. Her aunt Aurora was even the professor of Astronomy at Hogwarts for many years. It’s fair to say that Artemis is quite intelligent. She was not at the head of her class, but she was a Ravenclaw and she didn’t become one as a result of her good looks. She likes things to be interesting, and if they aren’t she isn’t above trying to cause a little mayhem to liven things up. But she always makes sure she does in such a way that someone else gets the blame pinned on them instead of her.
Even though she comes from a family of wizards, she has always found muggle culture extremely interesting. Unlike other witches and wizards, she could probably walk down a muggle street and interact with them fairly normally. She’s always really enjoyed their music and culture, and unlike the pureblood families she doesn’t look down on them for being non-magical, they’ve managed perfectly fine with out it.
Appearance:
Artemis looks a lot like her twin brother Apollo, at least in a general sense. They have the same dark brown (nearly black) hair, and they both have bright blue eyes. However, it is about there that their similarities cease. Artemis is relatively short, barely making it to 5’3” and this is exacerbated by Apollo who is nearly six feet tall. She has ivory colored skin but still manages to be slightly darker than her vampiric brother. She is pretty but not in the classic sense, her features are a bit too oddly proportioned for that. However, it seems as though term “doe eyed” seems to have been invented for her own personal use, as she has the largest blue eyes that you’re likely to ever see.
She dresses in the same general style as her brother, who is always her shopping buddy. As quirky as she can be, her brother always overshadows her and this is especially true when it comes to clothes. Compared to the outrageously bright pants, bizarre patterns, and unique accessories he wears, she seems positively conservative in her dress much of the time.
