History:

Marshall was born to Jill and Adam Suijen on October 7, 1987 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, the oldest of two (his younger sister, Aleshanee, came shortly over 2 years afterwards). Marshall doesn't know too much about his earliest years. He knows that his parents supposedly couldn't take care of their children the way they wanted to so they were sent to live with their aunt and uncle on their father's side.

Now don't get the idea that Marshall and Aleshanee suffered like Harry Potter. In fact, a more reasonable comparison would be to the Weasley family. Marshall and Aleshanee were treated, yes, a little differently, but were for the most part accepted by their aunt, uncle, and cousins. Life there was fun, especially with 5 children running around, all within 6 or 7 years of each other.

One by one, the kids started going to Hogwarts. Marshall's time came and he was sorted into Gryffindor along with his youngest cousin and his sister. Marshall didn't particularly understand what was so Gryffindor about him, and still really doesn't, but it doesn't matter as much to him now that he's out of Hogwarts. Maybe he just wasn't fit for any other house.

His years at Hogwarts started out relatively normal. He had a number of friends, not popular, but not unpopular either. He was more or less your average student, though his social standing was no doubt helped by having three cousins (who could practically qualify as siblings) and a sister in the school as well at one point.

In Marshall's fifth year he started to pull away from the social scene. It didn't become particularly noticeable until his 6th year, when he started seeming isolated and distant from nearly everybody, including people he was very close to. He had maybe one or two friends he still spoke to with any frequency, and, of course, his family. Many were concerned about this but had no idea what to do about it. After all, it was Marshall's choice what he wanted to do, but it still seemed odd.

In the middle of Marshall's 7th year at Hogwarts, his younger sister and girlfriend at the time decided to intervene. Marshall's strange behavior had hit a head. He had gone almost completely delusional. Marshall's sister and then girlfriend stepped in to intervene. He was taking first to the hospital wing, then to St. Mungo's. He was soon after diagnosed with a disease known in the muggle world as paranoid schizophrenia, and began treatment (while still continuing his studies, he had therapy sessions and medication). By the end of Marshall's 7th year, he had improved greatly. He has continued to improve since then, and now his 'disorder' just looks like weird quirks because he pretty much has it in control.

He went through his first several years out of Hogwarts maintaining small jobs here and there, mostly jobs in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade and other such places. Also, when he turned 22, he married his girlfriend of several years, Ali. The two enjoyed three years to themselves before Ali gave birth to fraternal triplets Natasha (Tasha), Carly, and Marcus. Following four years later was the birth of their little sister, Stacy.

Around the time of Stacy's birth, Marshall came to the realization that he would need to get a more steady job. He had always been interested in the subject of Charms, so he applied for the job of a professor at Hogwarts. While there was a professor already on duty at Hogwarts, said professor took on Marshall as an apprentice of sorts. However, said professor is retiring, and when the new school year starts Marshall gets to look forward to his first year.
Personality:

Marshall has a bit of a mixed up personality. It all depends on if you know him well or not. If he's known you for a while, chances are higher that he'll show his true self to you. He's a very guarded person. He doesn't mind being around people, and loves to carry on small talk, but the minute the subject turns to something personal with a stranger, he'll try his best to chance the subject. He's a bit paranoid as well, though not as much as he used to be in his youth. He's not afraid to mention something weird, but he'll often just play it off as a joke, even if he's not entirely joking.

He has a good sense of humor, and a fantastic ability to laugh at himself. He tries not to take himself too seriously - He learned the hard way that that just puts you even more down in the dumps if you're upset. Instead, he tries to take life as lightheartedly as he can, though he like every other human has moments where he gets mad, depressed, scared, and everything else. He just tries not to obsess about those moments.

Appearance:

He stands at about 5'10", and is on the slender side, almost looking frail. He has medium brown hair and light blue eyes. His hair is on the short side. He has several interesting mannerisms - He will raise his eyebrows a lot in conversations, and will try to avoid eye contact even still. He feels like giving people he's just met eye contact is like giving them a window into his thoughts.
