History:
Of Russian descent, Aleksandra is the daughter of a Halfblood and a Muggleborn - her father was the CEO of an ‘obscure’ business, as the euphemism went and her mother was their security. Together, they set up a protection organisation where local businesses in the Russian equivalent of Knockturn Alley would pay the gang to ensure nothing bad would happen to their establishments. Of course, they never went into detail about what sort of bad would happen. They were also involved in a very elaborated and hidden black market and smuggling business as well as being very good racketeers. She is the eldest of a staggering seven children, not to mention the only girl, and they were all brought up in a family with strict discipline but also with doting parents, despite being criminals.
However, the business would have to be disrupted to make sure Aleksandra got a descent Wizarding education. Neither of the parents had enough time to home school and so a relocation to England or France seemed the only way to make sure Aleksandra got into school since Durmstrang would not accept her on the grounds of impure blood. A toss of a coin meant that the family moved to London when she was eight. All they had were their savings. No connections. They needed to set up again, and quickly. They set up base in Knockturn Alley and had brought with them various cousins and other lesser relations who served as the thugs of their ‘business’. They established themselves simply as the Mikhaylov Syndicate, simply shortened to the Syndicate nowadays. They were family run and gathered speed. Aleksandra thus continued growing up in a warm but harshly protected atmosphere.
At eleven she received her letter. By then she had an almost military sense of duty drilled into her and was loyal to the underworld. There were whispers among the more dubious members of Pureblood families who were better acquainted with the politics of organised crime, but thankfully the feminine ending to her surname saved her from most relations to Mikhaylov. She was promptly sorted into Ravenclaw due to her intelligence and determination to study, which outweighed the Hufflepuff tendency of fierce loyalty. She was a geek, but plenty of interaction with her family and other members of the gang gave him some sociability. Her school life was mundane enough to give her new confidence and she became a little more flamboyant.
When she was thirteen, she was fully informed of what her parents did for the first time. She had her suspicions something awfully dodgy was going on, but was unable to find any hard evidence about it. Apparently this was to be her legacy and that she best get prepared for it. It was unconventional letting the daughter take the role of heiress but it was hard to ignore the innate spark she had in her. Almost as if she was made to do this. She became a first class duelist in the club and excelled at Defence Against the Dark Arts. She didn’t fight it- family loyalty and all. In fact, she rather enjoyed it. She had a place in life and it was a very comfortable thing to know, even if it wasn’t necessarily secure. She skipped through career consultation and achieved high marks in her exams, enough to get into the Auror academy if she so wished which amused her to no end. She graduated without a fuss and began immersing herself in the criminal world including lessons on blackmail, politics, smuggling and other such nefarious activities.
However, a sudden crackdown in the Knockturn by a team of Aurors, tipped off by a rival gang after a vicious duel left one member incapacitated, brought the Mikhaylov heads of household to justice. Aleksandra was on operation in Portsmouth conducting illegal shipping at the time and the rest of her siblings were spared as they were too young to be involved. The parents were given a significant jail term leaving the Mikhaylov Syndicate in ruins and the family destitute. Their luxuries melted before their eyes- house, money, brooms and all. Nothing was left. Aleksandra had to take up her role as the mother and her priority was reconstructing their lives for the benefit of her brothers.
Aleksandra rebuilt the Mikhaylov Syndicate with the few members how had enough faith to remain instead of going back home to Russia. However, they were too few to really survive and so she had to initiate a first; an accord with a rival gang. Though it pained her to see it happen, the Syndicate was annexed by the native British gang in the area; the Hexton Gang. All those who were eligible to become part of the criminal world were reduced to the role of a common thug.
It took Aleksandra four years to regain their former prestige. By that time, Nikolai (eldest son) had also become old enough to help and old rivalries had melted away. A new contract was created which granted the family their own branch within the Hexton Gang, meaning the Syndicate was very much still alive. They were given their own independence but had to pass on half the profits to the Hexton Gang and had to be prepared to take order. Otherwise, Aleksandra pretty much had her own small kingdom to watch over.
Since the alliance was made, another two brothers have joined herself and Nikolai in their small criminal empire. The family run special branch focus their expertise on fraud, the black market and the good old fashioned exchange of ‘favours’. The Hexton Gang often call on them to help them with big ‘shoot ups’ ad the odd kidnapping or two when necessary.
However, another threat is looming. With recent events at the Ministry, the Aurors have now been spurred and there are now whispered fears of discovery and arrest just like the years before.

Personality:
Aleksandra is fiercely loyal and protective of her family. It is a code of honour that has been drilled into her since she was able to understand. Nothing could ever compromise family. She is not only the older sister, as far as she’s concerned she is also the mother. She matches this role with a surprisingly sweet and warm disposition to anyone who is involved with the Syndicate. If she looks after them, they look after her and each other. On the other hand, if the person in question is not family, they must be prepared to face a very cold and suspicious front. Her family have been betrayed once before and she won’t see it happen again. One can only earn trust through proving their own loyalty and as a reward, they become a part of the family. And for Aleksandra, nothing is too good or too much trouble for those she loves. However, if she is crossed, there is no regaining esteem. It would take years to allow a wound like that to heal.
Such a role has adverse effects. She constantly feels she needs to be taking care of someone and thus hardly ever allows the favour to be returned. This, oddly, seems to drive men away which only exacerbates the situation further. Her aspirations are, however, family driven and she longs to start her own family. But most men have reservations about having their children grow up in a criminal background.
Aleksandra is a very determined woman who cannot rest until her goals are achieved be it the latest assignment or a grander scheme. She spares little thought for her own well being and is afraid of stopping for fear of finally feeling the exhaustion. She is very organised and meticulous in her approach and not to mention resourceful which see almost every obstacle tackled. She can’t bear inactivity which results in an absolute abhorrence of helplessness which inevitably results in a desperate need to be in control of everything. She will come across as overpowering if she is presented with something beyond her control. The only other way she can handle such a notion is with some sort of physical outlet.
Speaking of which, Aleksandra is not opposed to violence. She has grown up to embrace the heady adrenaline rush to be expected from various activities and enjoys the highs. When it comes to fight or flight, the former always takes precedence. She’s not afraid of fighting dirty either; the end justifies the means. That is all there is to perceive. And if one happens to be considered worth lynching, she will pursue the notion with zeal.
She is actually quite a sensitive individual, but there is no room for that in her world and thus the only mask she can find is that of arrogance. However, with no one to confide in, offhanded comments are often internalised which has resulted in a surprisingly low self-esteem.
Generally she is quite patient with those around her, but nothing flares her temper more than selfishness. Quite strangely, this has instilled a unique code of honour in the Syndicate and a sense of camaraderie that is maintained under her ever watchful eye. She is a harsh disciplinarian to ensure that vices and mistakes are less likely to be repeated.
Appearance:
Aleksandra, in a word, looks sharp. Her eyes are blue deep set, piercing and harshly framed by arch eyebrows that constantly make her look slightly intimidating. This is further complimented by a strong bone structure which can be described as slightly masculine what with the strong jaw and cheeks. Her nose is straight and unremarkable. Thankfully, her lips retain a little femininity as they are full and red. Her mousey brown hair is cut short and is sleeked back which effectively finishes the image.
Her attire consists mainly of suits. No skirts; far too impractical for certain duties. She favours dark colours often set off with a flamboyant tie or handkerchief and is unlikely to be seen outside of this uniform. She is rather partial to heels, which tends to take the masculine edge off while still making her look the business. It also allows her to look rather fearsome when her original height is already 5’11.
She has few tokens of her profession including a duelling scar across her collarbone and a tattoo of the Syndicate crest on her left shoulder. There will certainly be more to follow.
