Title: Crash-landing, True To Form...
Description: Jewish Gryffindor Auror, in the house.

Elior Braun - July 18, 2008 04:50 AM (GMT)

Welcome to After Graduation! Why don't you tell us a little about yourself?

I'm Sam. I'm woefully old; I'm a 20-year-old college student. I'm majoring in philosophy and English. Ask me about David Hume, Kierkegaard, and Aldous Huxley. No, really!

Really.

We love you already. <3

Now that you've told us about yourself, why don't you tell us about your character? Here's a quick summary sheet to make it easy.

Describe your character in less than a paragraph.
E.B. is more or less a jokester. Unlike me, he's not a pretentious intellectual. He likes to have fun, he likes to play Quidditch... and he likes to catch bad guys. Yep, he's an Auror. He's got a very studious Jewish family, and they disapprove of him entirely. He's a little guy, skinny, a bit clumsy, a bit of a clown. At the same time, he cares deeply about doing the right thing. He thinks a great deal about how he should be living: not theoretically, but day-to-day. He isn't didactic or anything, just lightly teasing; that's how he deals with things--but if you press his buttons, he's get SEETHINGLY angry, which is always fun. He does not suffer idiots well. He's very worried about the current puzzling state of things here. (Someone fill me in more on this!).

What's your posting style like?
I'm flexible. I love snappy dialogue, so I'll write that a lot. I am not at all a fan of long, rambling, purple-prose-y posts. I do write description when I fancy. I write inner monologue often, too. I'd say my posts run from three to four paragraphs long, and I don't like to be pressured to match your length if you're into ten pages of 'her azure eyes sparklingly blah blah blah and the couch fibers and the roses and the blah.' I'll have an example up soon.

What sort of plots or roleplays are you interested in? Serious or light? Long-term or short?

I'd like serious plots and some light ones. No romance. Please. No. Nothing planned out in advance in terms of relationships, apart from casual friendships. E.B. does like girls, so he may ask one out on a date, but it will not, repeat, will not be true love. At best, it'll be amusing and a bit sweet, and slightly pathetic.

I've considered making him a victim of the Fourth Unforgiveable eventually, but if I am to do so, I want him to get seriously involved in some Ministry plottage.

Fantastic! Now I hope you've prepared yourself. You're about to be bombarded with welcomes and thread requests from many wonderful roleplayers.

Artemis Sinistra - July 18, 2008 05:07 AM (GMT)
Umm, so yeah. We've already plotted, but I was bored. So hello again! It's Arty. I'm a 20 y.o. history major (I suppose this makes me "woefully old" as well). I play Artemis, Wendell, and Elizabeth. And I foresee fun, and ridiculous thread between Wendell and E.B. in the future!

Welcome!

Heather Knowles - July 18, 2008 05:11 AM (GMT)
Hello!

I play Heather, and I doubt they would know one another. :(, but hey, I still need to drop by and say hello and welcome!

Sofia Robards - July 18, 2008 05:22 AM (GMT)
Hiya Sam!

I'm Apollo, a not as old college student that is majoring in computer science. Ask me about programing languages - I am sure I can get someone to testify (coughArtycough) its material enough to put anyone to sleep though I like to chatter on happily about it.

Anyway on to plotting which we started to do in the Cbox of all the crazy places to do such a thing...

Apollo Sinistra: Now he was a Slytherin but the same class year as you. Currently he's a fashion freak of nature with a social life that some would die trying to manage. You mentioned that Elior liked pranks and a laugh - well that sums up Apollo rather well if you add fashion into the mix. I can see them being friends or if the houses got in the way of a friendship forming in school then acquaintances that know of each other. If you don't watch yourself he might try and set you up on a date with his twin Artemis (Arty)...

Zippy Sinistra: He's a former unspeakable with a heart of gold and an overactive imagination. I don't know if you would know him, he's a tad old, unless you ran into him trying to save some invisible person from death. He also happens to be the twin's grandfather.

Sofia Robards: She is a year older than you but the same house and an Auror. I figure they have known each other for quite a while, so he would be E.B to her when not in the office? You mentioned an unrequited love on his end which would be quite frankly hysterical since she's currently in lust over a totally inappropriate man (Wendell Darrow) who always has amusing reactions to things and would more than likely be oblivious and see him as a close friend. Currently she's apart of the BHL (Brunette Hottie League), just caught a couple crooks, is a bit ticked off she got overlooked for department head, and trying to figure out how to bust Wendell out of jail without loosing her job. Fun stuff is going on on level two.

Anyway these are all ideas that are coming from a somewhat over caffeinated mind. I am open to anything and everything.

Elior Braun - July 18, 2008 05:41 AM (GMT)
E.B. is also looking to help Wendell; we've established that they're friends. :P So that well might work! And yes, I think E.B. would like Sofia, in a bit of a worshipful, puppyish way. He isn't very suave sometimes.

He might like Apollo... we'll see. He isn't really one for House rivalries, much, though he's a bit biased toward Ravenclaws.

And I love Zippy so much, simply from the signature pictures... besides, he's the kind of guy who WOULD help him with his invisible friends.

We can discuss this, yeah? I look forward to any future threads. :)

And hey, Heather, thanks for the welcome.

Emily Webb - July 18, 2008 09:38 AM (GMT)
Ah another graduate of 2012. Blimey at this rate we will have a class reunion.

I only have Emily for now ( but that could change in the future) Don't know if she would fit into your little world. She was Ravenclaw and also she played Quidditch as a chaser so maybe from there she might know you. She is torn between two worlds, the one she tries desperately to leave behind and the one she is trying to rebuild. ( an d I think she will now she owns the Apothecary

Flawlessly loyal to those she calls friends and can keep secrets really well. Loves to hang out and gossip and has been known to trade in the Black Market.

anyways welcome and hopes to see you around the board. *smiles*

Neville Longbottom - July 18, 2008 11:00 AM (GMT)
E.B.

We've talked a bit on cbox.

I'm Roe and I'm woefully older .... 27

I'm a college prof who teaches geography, eath science and meteorology

I storm chase in the Great Plains in May and June

I have 2 canon characters on here:

Ron Weasley and Neville Longbottom, both from the same class, and from Gyffindor

Ron has been an Auror for 20 years and has been Deputy head of Level 2: Law Enforcement under Harry Potter

Nevv has been Professor of Herbology at Hogwarts for 15 years and before that was an Auror for 5 years with Ron and Harry
hunting down Death Eaters

If E.B. interacts with either of these two I expect it will be Ron.

In any case, ave lots of fun on the site and I'll see you around.

Elior Braun - July 18, 2008 01:14 PM (GMT)
Hey, Emily! I don't think our characters will have any kind of friendship or interaction, but thanks for the welcome.

Hey, Roe.

I think he'd get on pretty well with Ron, actually--in some ways, the characters are a bit similar (not that this was intentional!). You know, slight inferiority complex, likes to eat a lot... ha. Anyway, E.B. is a bit of a maverick, and doesn't like authority, so he more or less does what he wants, so maybe some chastisement will be in order at some point...

Thanks for the welcome. :)

Mackenzie Dalton - July 18, 2008 04:25 PM (GMT)
Hello, I'm Reg. And I only play this dude (mostly because I've been here a multitude of... two days). Mackenzie Dalton.

He's a WWN Radio Personality and a petty thief (he can pickpocket, shoplift, burglarize, and snitch pretty easily, though he is extremely careful). He's nineteen years old - so even if they were in the same house, they likely wouldn't have known each other unless E.B. liked to associate with younger students a lot. He's a bit snarky, stubborn, impatient, man of action, and that's all I can remember right now... Oh... and Mack's also blind (sounds like an after thought there, dammit).

I'm not entirely sure what we could do with them. But it could get interesting.

Elior Braun - July 18, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
Well, E.B. is looking for a flatmate, since the one he's living with now is very stodgy (he's an NPC :P ). He may advertise for it and get Mackenzie. I think they'd get on reasonably well, actually. He might also catch him stealing--he is an Auror, after all...

E.B. doesn't seem like the Prefect type, so no, they didn't meet in Hogwarts, or not likely so, unless Mackenzie had an older sibling.

The 'snarky' I love. That could be a great dynamic... I'd like to plot with you. :) I may drop you a line within the next couple of days, how's that?

Thanks for replying, all of you.

Will Channing - July 20, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
Hi Sam! We've already plotted a bit, but I figured I'd give you a full list of my characters.

Lucy Ballantine is my first, my darling, who I've been playing for years now. She is a recent newlywed, her husband being Dermot Ballantine. She will be teaching Muggle Studies at Hogwarts in the fall.

Logan Fletcher is an Unspeakable, one of the ones working on the fourth unforgivable. He's going to get very screwed by the whole debacle, but will come out of it alright and as a changed man. They may end up meeting by association, or randomly, if you're interested. Logan's pretty hard to get along with sometimes; he's too intelligent for his own good and it makes it hard for him to interact with most people.

Edward Garrow is the Junior Undersecretary, and the bad guy behind the fourth unforgivable. He has a massive temper, is a raging alcoholic, and is obsessed with his wayward wife, Ivy Ballantine (long story there, but it involves the Irish Blood Revolution, which ended about five years back). Despite all that, he's a charming and well-liked politician, though his exterior is starting to fray a little bit.

Will Channing is the assistant to the Head of Magical Law Enforcement. He's basically a go-to guy for the Level Two kids, since he's pretty willing to help out anyone who needs it. I can't wait for these two to start working on Judy's case together--I think they'll make a good team.

Constance Fallon is a no-nonsense Auror. Her world view is very black and white and she has a rude and abrasive sense of humor. She's a thorough investigator. They're the same age, so mayhaps some romance? If you're up for it, anyway. Poor Connie's hard to like...but she could use someone like E.B. to lighten her mood, even if they're just friends.

Patrick Everard is pretty ambitious, but in more of a criminal fashion, and will probably be following in the footsteps of Jasper Christie. Regardless, he's very charismatic and a lot of fun, as long as it's playtime and not business time. He has a job at Dervish and Banges but is also sort of an unofficial curse breaker for the Russian Syndicate, a crime mob operating out of Knockturn Alley. He was sort of dragged into it.

Agatha Jarvey is a ghost who haunts Jarvey Estate. I don't think they'll interact, unless E.B. goes to the estate very often.

I look forward to our plottage.

Elior Braun - July 20, 2008 02:54 AM (GMT)
Gosh, I need a criminal.

I think E.B. would flirt with Constance, for sure--he is incredibly desperate, though he'll probably be a bit scared of her and get over it by being very abrasive (something in common, what ho?). I'm not saying it'll pan out; he's... very awkward, and believe me, there's a reason women don't tend to like him (he's about as mature as a tadpole). But merciless two-way insults seem like a delightful prospect. I'd be up for some romantic comedy.

Might he and Patrick Everard get into a tiff in the line of duty? You know--actual Auror work. A duel or something. I'm not sure if this board has a combat system, but, well, I'm not the kind of person ego-invested in my characters winning, so he can kick E.B.'s arse and get away with it if you like.

I think a meeting with Logan would be awesome, because it would play on E.B.'s chief insecurity, to wit, his intelligence (fear that he lacks it). And, heck, they could have a serious moral debate, on the darker side of things...

I think this Fourth Unforgivable business might well bring E.B.'s religious side into play. Jewish magic ftw. HM... Interesting.

LOL this is way too much stuff at once, so kudos, you guys, you're amazingly welcoming.

I'm sure we'll have time to talk and plot. I'll be back in about an hour, after I write my paper. Cheers!

Thatcher Hollingsworth - July 20, 2008 07:30 PM (GMT)
Hi! ^_^

Thatcher here. I have two characters:

Thatcher Hollingsworth: Thatcher is currently Will's intern so there's potential for interaction between the two of them as well. Generally, Thatcher is a likeable guy, he's honest and fair but he is ambitious and that is hence the reason he joined the ministry a few months after graduation.

Gregory Esslemont: Another criminal you could possibly have a "run-in" with. Gregory is a black market dealer and is shady and silent. Well he'll talk, he just prefers not to and will definitely not start a conversation with someone if he feels its unnecessary.

Alessandro Staughton - July 22, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
Hi! Welcome!

I only have one character,

Alessandro Staughton-or Ale for short. E.B. would have to know him because they were on the Quidditch team together for the 2 years. Ale is 2 years younger but since they would have met on the team, have a similar personality, and now both work in M.L.E. I think they might be friends, if you would want. Just pm me, Im dying for a plot lol.

Victoire Weasley - July 22, 2008 08:21 PM (GMT)
'ello, I'm Mandee, a 19 year old soon to be college student (took a year off to work and save up money so I could afford college, but I start next month). I have three characters on here, but none extremely involved with the main plot. XD Not sure if Mr. Braun would interact with them or not, but I'll tell you about them and see what you think...

Victoire Weasley - 19 year old graduated of 2017, she's currently working as a bartender at the Leaky Cauldron and dating Teddy Lupin. She's a bit of a feisty individual...maybe Elior would meet Victoire through one of her many relatives? Only thing I can really think of. Either that or he comes into the Leaky Cauldron late at night and the two of them have a conversation.

Marshall Suijen - 30 going on 31 graduate of 2006. He's taking on his first year of his new job as a professor at Hogwarts. So he wouldn't really know Elior as a student, as Marshall would have been a 7th year in his 1st. But Elior graduated before Marshall could have known him even as an apprentice professor. Unless you can think of something, I can't really think of much for these two. XD

Luna Lovegood - You know her. XD 37 years old, naturalist, married to Rolf Scamander, yadda yadda. ^^ How she'd interact with Mr. Braun, I'm not entirely sure. >.>

Elior Braun - July 23, 2008 02:48 AM (GMT)
Wealth of plot!

Thatcher AND Gregory could work, I think. We shall see; I'm in a lot of threads right now, so I don't want to bite off too much, but I think it would be a lot of fun. I'm looking for something darker--maybe a violent runin with Gregory could do the trick. I want to get my Auror on, you know?

As a side note, I'll post this in plotting later--but I'd love for E.B. to go undercover/work as a double agent. He believes he's incorruptible, but we'll have to see. Ha. Have seen the Departed way too many times.

Alessandro--Hurrah, Quidditch buds! E.B. is horrible at the game, but that's the fun of it. I'm sure they could, say, go to a game together? Something like that. Talk sports! Man talk! Chest-thump, etc.!

*Cough* Er, anyway. Yes. Perhaps some RP.

Mandee--E.B. likes to do some social drinking now and again, so I'm sure he'd show up at the Leaky eventually. And I'm likewise sure he'd know Victoire/know of her. After all, he's more or less an enormous fan of the Weasleys--George particularly. WWW is what he worships instead of Jesus, though, well, he never worshipped Jesus; he's Jewish. So, in short, he'd also know about Bill and etc. He'd also have at least seen her her first year at Hogwarts. I'll post for you in the Leaky sometime.

Kate Derum - August 13, 2008 03:18 AM (GMT)
I'm going to post in here because Kate's a pain in the -coughs- butt to EB. I'm thinking we should plot more ;)

Kelsey Andersson - August 13, 2008 09:08 AM (GMT)
Hey I'm Jemma...

I only have one charrie here at the moment

Kelsey Andersson: 25, former Hufflepuff. Kelsey was born to two Muggles, Laura and Matthew Andersson. They fell in love during High School, went to the same College and fibe years after graudating the two of them got married and had two beautiful children - Matilda (Mattie for short) and Kelsey. Mattie was one year older than Kelsey and at the age of 11 Kelsey received a letter from Hogwarts inviting her to study there. Her parents were proud to have another Wizard in the family. She became a Hufflepuff like her sister. At Hogwarts Kelsey made many friends; friends who would be there for her through thick and thin and would care for her very much...as she did for them. Laura thought that both Kelsey and her sister should get a Muggle education too, so at the some time as being at Hogwarts, the two of them were being sent Muggle school. Kelsey enjoyed this a lot, after finishing at Hogwarts Kelsey went to a Muggle university and studied Muggle History. This was when everything changed, another Magical war had broken out and Kelsey and her family were in the middle of it. Matthew sadly died that same year, due to being so proud of his daughters he joined the Muggle branch Magical police. He died in Leicester Square, London. Matthew was helping the Wizards fight againest the Dark Wzards. After the war had ended, Kelsey taught at Hogwarts for a few months but she was always reminded of her father; it did not also help that she felt like he was being watched everywhere she went, she decided to apply for other teaching posts. Kelsey hopes to return to Hogwarts someday, as that was where she felt safe and working at her best. Currently Kelsey is working in the Ministry of Magic, in the Magical Accidents & Catastrophes department. she is the specialist in Muggle Items. Kelsey is smart, nice, thoughtful, patient, sensitive, and likes to joke around. But when she get’s past her pressure point, she will explodeswith anger. She's ambitious, helpful and caring with it comes to toher people. By nature, Kelsey is an academic. She loves to learn. At times, Kelsey is reminded of her past and then becomes depressed; but this does not happen as much since she worked at Beauxbatons in France for over a year. When it comes to love and romance, she falls in and out of love very quickly, at her age she should be looking for a man to settle down with...but Mr Right has not yet arrived.
