Title: What's your favourite Sonic game and WHY?

Even if deciding what's your favourite Sonic game isn't exactly debative or discussion friendly, I thought it would be a great idea to start people posting around. So, what's your favourite Sonic game, and do say, Why?
Now, I don't consider myself an extreme Sonic gamer myself, but a Sonic game that I will consider my favourite, and amongst my favourite of videogames overall, is Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for megadrive/Genesis.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic the hedgehog 2 took everything that made the first game a hit, and enhanced with better graphics, better sound, faster gamplay, and more levels; not to mention the introduction to Miles "Tails" Prower and two of the most important gimmicks to be used in future games, Super Sonic and the seven chaos emeralds.
Sonic the hedgehog 2 always appealed to me more than the first game, I think mostly because of the variety of levels. Though one thing, despite Sonic the Hedgehog 2 being my favourite Sonic game, I've neve really completed it. That, however, doesn't take it from being my favourite Sonic game.

I think Sonic 3 & Knuckles would have to be mine. I mean, where to begin really? It's a relatively large game overall, and through small segments with Knuckle's traps and Robotnik towards the end, it actually had itself a subtle story, more than simply run right and hit the egg-looking-fellow at the end. Even so, the story as mentioned wasn't overbearing, and flowed into the game. Then you have Knuckles himself, who was a joy to play as. Gliding, climbing, and his alternate routes to Sonic made him a joy to play as, and a unique character to what was at the time a miniscule roster. Then there's Hyper Sonic. Do I really need to say more on that? Also, alongside Hyper Sonic, you had Super and Hyper Knuckles, and Super Tails with his little flickies. And last of all, it had one of my favorite and most epic boss fights in the Sonic series, Super Mecha Sonic. Seriously, I love that boss, and it was always a joy to take him on.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2, it was definitely one of the best sonic games ever. Actually even though the classic sonic games weren't as graphic incredible as the new sonic games I think the classic's were the best.

Speaking of 2's, my favorite game is Sonic Adventure 2. Sorry, but 2D is just, well, in the past. SA2 was a vast improvement on Sonic Adventure, they didn't have the retarded moving mouths, they had an updated game engine, the best out of all the games so far, and the storyline was as if Sonic Team actually cared about their game. They had the best voice actors in that game, the best for Dr. Eggman, at the least. Though there were only three main character types, the variety of the levels were interesting, and fun. And the Chao system was at it's best, as well. I consider it to be the last game Sonic Team made before they decided to make games that would make people stop buying Sonic games. Which still to this day is backfiring against them.
