The prices on Ebay seem to be really high. The 1st truck sold for like $4700. The truck is in need of serious help, has rust, been sitting who knows how long? Will need a complete restoration.

I wonder if people post stuff on ebay then get friends to bid on it to raise the price? I paid $3500 for mine which included the seller having it delivered 100miles to my work.

From work I drove it about 6 miles home. Pretty spooky driving it that far w/o knowing anything about it's history but now I feel that it could have been driven the 100 miles if necessary.

Here it is the next morning incase anyone hasn't already seen it. :D

1st truck: 4700 dollars
Chris's truck: 3500 dollars
I fly out to California and "borrow" Chris's truck: Priceless!

Chris, if you ever want to sell it, let me know

The Snowman - October 24, 2006 02:15 AM (GMT)

Ya the crack will go when I replace the glass.

Peterbilt doesn't have the glass anymore so I have not really tried to do anything else about it. Been busy fixin other stuff.

Pics are right down the street from my house in Apple Valley and the one from inside the truck is Main St in Hesperia.

sykotrucker - October 26, 2006 02:06 AM (GMT)
hey chris, i thought i recognized the scenery, just had the wrong road.
i get my truck washed and aluminum polished at the "little sisters" truck
wash by the Pilot in Hesperia. i usually stop in there on tuesdays, maybe we'll run into each other.....syko

chris142 - October 26, 2006 02:15 AM (GMT)
If yer there after 5P I can show up. I have a regular m-f day job.

The Snowman - October 26, 2006 02:27 AM (GMT)
Make sure to bring Desert Bling :ph43r:

sykotrucker - October 26, 2006 03:19 AM (GMT)
i can try, but am usually in the area between noon & 2. depends on what time i finish loading in L.A. where do you wrench at? locally? always looking for good mechanical shops on my route.

chris142 - October 26, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
I work at a radiator/ AC shop in Hesperia. Mostly cars. We can charge AC on big stuff but were not set up to do much more.

sykotrucker - October 26, 2006 03:37 AM (GMT)
i run the I15 corridor to Salt Lake, could always use a good a/c shop.
thats one of the few things i'm not 100% happy with my truck. the a/c blows cold
it just seems that the blower motor doesnt push the air out the vents very hard
even on high, move your hand about a foot from the vent & you barely feel it.
the blower motor in sleeper blows twice as hard as cab motor

Does the truck have a cabin filter? Most do.

sykotrucker - October 28, 2006 01:54 AM (GMT)
hey chris, if it does have a filter, i cant find it. i've pulled the bottom kick
panel off to clean the condensor(i get some water dripping into cab in humid climates)
i dont see a filter there. i dont see one in the dash when i've replaced blower motors, so i dont know, i'm at a lost.

chris142 - October 28, 2006 01:55 AM (GMT)
What kind of truck is it?

sykotrucker - October 28, 2006 02:15 AM (GMT)
1993 peterbilt 379, pictures of it on page 7 of 3D model thread in Truck section, Snowman posted them for me.

chris142 - October 28, 2006 02:21 AM (GMT)
K I don't think 93 had a filter. If theres no little door secured with a small thumb screw right in front of the passengers feet then u ain't got one.

Check to see if the blower is getting 12V or more when the switch is on full fan. Check the squirel cage to see if it's plugged with lint and hair. Same with the evaporator in the dash.

Ck the blend doors too.

Does the motor have a weird hum? If it does thats what they sound like when the squirel cage is plugged.

sykotrucker - October 28, 2006 02:30 AM (GMT)
no little door, put a new motor in last summer, it just stopped working. it is getting 12v, squirrel cage was/is clean, no weird hum. it does sound like the blades hit the cage on high but that comes and goes. what are blend doors?
if i run unit on med. & turn on before it gets really hot(Baker, Ca. hot) inside temp will be ok. unit blows almost no air on low. it's livable, just one of those quirks that drives me nuts

chris142 - October 28, 2006 02:47 AM (GMT)
The blend doors are what direct the flow of air to the various vents. They are either controlled by air or little electric motors. If one isn't working then it would effect the air flow out the vents.

If you turn the ac off for a few mins then turn it back on does it blow better?

sykotrucker - October 28, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
ok, mine work by air, doesn't work any better if turned off then back on.
air has always blown harder out of the 2 vents in the dash (drivers position)
compared to the 2 vents on either side of the glove box

chris142 - October 28, 2006 03:33 AM (GMT)
There has to be a duct off somewhere

sykotrucker - October 28, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
yeah, when i get some downtime i'll have to get back in there and look around.
i hate pulling the dash panel though. i have so many air line/switches, slider, dump valve, pto, diff lock, it gets to be a nitemare trying to work in there. i also have 17 gauges & 10 toggle switches wired up in there. there's hardley any room to get your hands in there. thanks for the info, if i cant sort it out, i'll be calling on you

That looks like a good road tractor B) , but them some ugly shifter knobs, I'd have a T-knob on the main and a eigth ball on the other one. B)

Another Pete on eBay.

Bumping this back up now that the auction ended.. what do you all think the reserve was? Seems to be set high.

sykotrucker - November 2, 2006 03:44 AM (GMT)
it looked to be in pretty decent shape, and with the winch set-up, they probably
wanted 8 to 10k. just a guess.
