Yet another test. The layer with the lines though... I had to do that by hand. Stupid GIMP... ;-; I never wanna do lines again. Ever. XD Next time I'm doing it on Paint and then copy+pasting to GIMP. >_>

oranj - July 6, 2007 05:25 AM (GMT)
I think this thread might get deleted ... because that looks HAWT =D

gamefreak - July 6, 2007 05:31 AM (GMT)
very nice, ima go play guitar hero now : D

Gennaro - July 6, 2007 03:05 PM (GMT)
Lacks blending, but it looks good. :)

Jeigan - July 6, 2007 03:17 PM (GMT)
Nice work. BTW, you were supposed to make one line and save it as a pattern >_>

I would if I knew how. I hadn't used GIMP in almost a year before last weekend.

EDIT: Oh, forgot Gennaro's comment.

There wasn't supposed to be blending. I wanted the guitar to stick out more because the background is so similar in colouring that it'd be hard to see.

Archie_Chaos - July 6, 2007 05:51 PM (GMT)
You don't know how to make a line in GIMP?

IIRC, select the pencil tool, click and hold, hold shift, and move the mouse to where you want the end of the line to be.

Gennaro - July 6, 2007 05:54 PM (GMT)
He knows to make lines... Just not how to save them as a pattern... Right, Zanryu?

Archie_Chaos - July 6, 2007 06:18 PM (GMT)
Oh. The copying/pasting thing from Paint lead me to think that making the lines was the problem.

Jeigan - July 6, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
In a new file, you make your line and save it as a .pat in the patterns folder. For me, it is in...

My PC/C:/Gimp 2.2/Patterns/

also, you'll probably have to restart GIMP after that so you can use the pattern

Zanryu - July 6, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
@Gen: Exactly. =3

@Jeigan: Ah, thanks. I'll keep that in mind. ^^

Aeorys Kirru - July 6, 2007 08:39 PM (GMT)
Very nice.

Try PaintDOTNet. They have a new feature in their v3.0 that has scanlines. Very cool.

The guitar is a little...conspicuous, but otherwise, not bad.

Zanryu - July 6, 2007 08:54 PM (GMT)
Paint.NET doesn't work on my computer. =/ Never has. I dunno why. It works on my friend's computer and I have a better comp than him. But whatever.

Again, the guitar's supposed to stick out like that.

NO WAI!

I found an easier way to do scan lines. xP

Alright, so... I'd seen the image before, right? I was just wandering around gamerenders and found this. So, naturally, I spazzed, and grabbed the render. I used it, and got this result. I dunno about the colour, but I like it for the most part.

Aeorys Kirru - July 16, 2007 12:22 AM (GMT)
Very nice. 'Innocence' just doesn't fit as well as it could, though.

Zanryu - July 16, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
Meh. She has an innocent expression though. That's what made me put Innocence. =/

Aeorys Kirru - July 16, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
I noticed.

I'm simply stating that the text doesn't quite fit with the rest of it, though. Perhaps you should make it opaque and not translucent, and put a light stroke/border around it to make it more obvious.

Zanryu - July 16, 2007 03:14 AM (GMT)
I didn't save my .xcf. >_> <_<

LordUldren - July 21, 2008 11:04 PM (GMT)

THE FOLLOWING ARE RATHER PROVOCATIVE.

Oldest -> Newest. And yes, I know they fail.

EDIT: Holy f*** Uldren. That was... odd. Anyway, it's not an anime. That's Cierra from Riviera: The Promised Land for the GBA.

LordUldren - July 21, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
Hmm I might request a sig from you eventually your stuff is very good; and it looked like a good anime I'm disappointed.

Oh and I know the person from the third sig she does a mcrolled remix

Zanryu - July 21, 2008 11:18 PM (GMT)
You mean the third image, second sig? Yeah, Hatsune Miku. Vocaloid. =) Also, you can request stuff, I just dunno when it'll get done, or if it'll be good. >_> I'd need an already rendered image though, because I hate rendering. I don't like taking five hours to do a sig. >_>

Can I have this, about the size of the first sig without the sticking out part

Actually have the right (my POV) arm sticking out I got an idea.

Zanryu - July 22, 2008 01:50 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't be able to fit that nicely in those dimensions. Also, it'd look bad if the right arm was sticking out the side because there's no complete hand. =/

LordUldren - July 22, 2008 01:54 AM (GMT)
I want roughly this

Zanryu - July 22, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
Alright, that I can do, but the lack of a full hand would still be off putting for most people, but your choice. What do you have in mind to do with that arm, might I ask?

LordUldren - July 22, 2008 02:04 AM (GMT)
I'm going to SS my current sig then put it under the arm so it looks like it's shielding my sig

Zanryu - July 22, 2008 02:19 AM (GMT)
SS your sig?

Zanryu - July 22, 2008 04:30 AM (GMT)
Ah, that makes sense. Sounds good, sounds good. I'll try to do it tomorrow.

Zanryu - July 22, 2008 06:36 AM (GMT)
Felt like doing one more sig and avy before I do Uldren's request, get the urge out of my system to use this render. XD

Yeah, they're linked so I dun get in trouble. =X

Ooh, I love the water/cracked effect in the background of the sig. How did you achieve that?

6.5/10

Zanryu - July 22, 2008 06:43 AM (GMT)
With a brush I found... about a year ago. XD

And wow, a 6.5? I thought it was a lot worse, myself. o_o

SandLord - July 22, 2008 06:49 AM (GMT)
Usually my rating is averaged from every sig posted since my last rating in the topic. As of now, I believe that to be the extent of your skill. You don't suck, you just need to improve your style. Don't judge yourself too severely. How long have you been working with PS? ;)

Zanryu - July 22, 2008 06:53 AM (GMT)
For about -857847 seconds. I use GIMP. =X

SandLord - July 22, 2008 07:00 AM (GMT)
Well then we are of the same breed. I see little difference. My question still stands.

Zanryu - July 22, 2008 07:04 AM (GMT)
XD

I was bein' a smart ass.

Uh... about 14 months off and on. Total I'd say... 6-7 months. =/

SandLord - July 22, 2008 07:07 AM (GMT)
Your growth rate is above average then, so I was right. Good luck on sharpening your blade. ^.^

Zanryu - July 22, 2008 07:45 AM (GMT)
I still think this is all I'm ever gonna manage. Whenever I try something new it fails no matter how many times I try it, which is why I stick to the same old shit all the time. =/
