Our society was made the way it was do to influences. Well maybe not built by influences but I am talking about the culture of our age group (11-27) and there are many influences in that society.

Those influences are:
music
tv/movies/anime
manga/comic books/books
video games
the internet

There are most likely more that I cannot think of right now, but those are the big ones. Each has a big hold on a particular age group or multiple age groups, but mostly young people.

My question in this discussion is which of these do you think has made the biggest impact on our lives and the lives of the people around us, and (this is optional) how.

It's not so much the things themselves as it is the desire of humans to act upon those things that tempt them. That's where the problem is. If people weren't so damn impressionable, then they wouldn't be easily influenced by any of that ****.

That is exactly the point. People are so impresionable, I was injured in school because my friend's friend had thier brain fryed from reading too much manga:

This all started two weeks a go because my friend had been gathering crazy stories that led to the conclusion that i was a vampire. and he was the "class clown" and told his friends, they believed him. At first I thought it would be kinda cool, and now my girlfriend thinks i'm a vampire, but she likes me or for it. Then one of his friends, who became a vamp-o-phobic from reading too much hellsing, attacked me in gym after reciting the hellsing "motto" I think, whatever that "impure souls of the living dead" thing belongs in.

Everyone is influenced by something. We are who we are by influences. Weaker people are more easily influenced than stronger minded people.

i personally think its difficult to say which influences the most, but its easier to say which influences, well, influence you the most. So basically, it has more to do with who your around.

i know that music and celebrities are my biggest influences. not because of just on me, but because of my friends and stuff.

but i know other people who get influenced by books, which boggles my mind, but im sure it confuses them how music fashions me.

Unless I missed something, Commander and Lockerdown aren't the same person. I don't know why Lockerdown gave his age, but going by Commander's Profile, he is 14.

Unless I am mistaken, Kombat was talking to Commander, not Lockerdown. Therefore Lockerdown had no reason to give his age because it was irrelevant and unrequested.

"Yall" is generally considered to be a shortened form of "You all". It may not have been meant that way, but details like that are easy to miss.

True, but Kombat was most likely referencing Commander and Commander's friends. There was no precedent for Lockerdown giving his age.

Again, it's easy to miss that sort of thing. Considering that I often make the same sort of mistake, I know about that stuff. <__<;

I considered this but then I considered Lockerdown and Commander knowing each other. Also how old _were_ you can't be defined by a persons current age.

i didint really pay Attention. just saw that he gave an age and assumed it was him. but anyway, i dont think it happened when he was 14 cuz that doesnt sense. modern day 14 year olds dont attack each other cuz they think one is truly a vampire.

this story isnt making sense to me. people really think he's a vampire? that either means:

1) he lives somewhere where people arent very intelligent(which i doubt is the case) or has some very weird friends

2) is in some sort of special ed (which i doubt even more is the case)

3) is like uber emo/scary or something

In my opinion, right now in this day and age, in the modern developed world, it is music and art. But music and art are not the only things. Their are countless factors to why people are the way they are. It could be the people they are around. The society they grew up in, or just their parrents, teachers, ect.
