Title: Myke's Sketches

Myke - December 2, 2007 09:52 PM (GMT)
Never anything more than a quick sketch, occasionally I'll go over them in photoshop or colour, but whatever.

"Hero," by Alex

It originally started as a concept for third tier Liquid then Alex took over and just sorta ran with it. It's way more realistic than my usual style, but I like it :3

The left hand is ultra tiny

****ing around in PChat and photoshop lol

Then photoshop decided to rape my colours. Oh well.

Inuyasha Lover - December 6, 2007 04:07 AM (GMT)
hmm..interesting. Reminds me of the band Gorillaz

Myke - December 9, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
So, uh... I've decided I'm sick of being a bad artist. So I've started tracing some other art so I can get proportions and stuff drilled into my head. So, keep in mind I DO NOT CLAIM ANY OF THIS WORK AS MY OWN. And don't mind the bleach theme >.>

So, after alot of tracing stuff and practicing over and over, I decided to test out my new style (as well as some gradient effects and textures fills >.>)

I'm still trying to work out this pen tool. I can vector colour pretty well, but I can't figure out how to draw lines with it. I draw a shape and it just becomes an invisible shape that I can drag around D:

here have some art.

Hayt doodles
Hayt chibi~
*slashes the screen in half*
Started drawing Sun Jie (Hayt's ma) but ended up just drawing Hayt
*flicks the V*
Tennouji Hayt, yo.
Controlled manifestation. In a hoodie for some reason.
Usui Katsurou, Kurama's daddy and the man Di stole the Bloody Throne from. Ironically, Katsurou's demon manifested again in Hayt and was the one to slay Di.

Ima doodles
T2 doodle on the left, fiddling with t3 Ima on the right. Short hair doesn't quite cut it =/
Hacked to bits and still awesome.
Dramatic hidden-face pose go
Venre shows off his surgically-enhanced grin.
Venre's axes, Broadside and Volley.

Forgotten Sword concepts
Aphrael, the final boss. No spoilers here, move along.
Eliza, the Ilian lord.
Tristan, the Western lord.
Shoddy Uther, our Lycian lord. We already had sprites for him so I didn't feel much effort was necessary.
Eagler concept with horrifically disfigured head and terrible body.
Harken needs to be way younger =/
Isadora is lulzy.

Random Junk
'Noble Di' was this story I was fiddling with covering Sun Di's life before he was cursed with the Felsworn. It was going to portray Di as a heroic man who sacrificed his wife, home and accepted the image of tyranny for the rest of his life in order to play his role in important events.
Random Monk, gogo.
Eurydice Augusta, my golden sun character.
Vergil mugshot copied from the manga for practice purposes.
Nosocks makes me wet inside. Also copied.
Don't call Szarke small or she'll shove a portable nuke down your pants.
Christ she's adorable~
Rusva being sexy.
Alternate angle.
Fae doin' some capoeira. Again, pose and clothing copied.
Was fiddling with my internet avatar (Myke)
Was supposed to be older Raphael but didn't turn out like planned.
I don't know why I drew Dante's head so freaking tiny but I decided to crop it here.
Snake-god battle or something.
This is Alan Delecroix. He is a sleeping god, a firestorm of cosmic energy. Fortunately, he doesn't know it and mostly just makes an idiot of himself and talks nonsense.
Doodle for my DMC campaign that might be used as a Reiji concept for Forgotten Sword.

Ok since there are way too many stuff to comment on, I'll just start with talking about what you could work on. Well first, you have a pretty ok grasp on anatomy but if you want to take it a step further, I would recommend learning to use the head of the person you use, a way to measure proportions and length of the person. You have the same problem I have, some of the poses look a little stiff, sometimes using yourself as a model or posing it yourself gives you a general idea of what would feel comfortable and what wouldn't. If your gonna keep going with this, getting a scanner wouldn't be such a bad idea.

You mention Forgotten Sword concept a few times here and their, mind explaining what it is? Its getting me a little curious. ;)

This.
...and I'm thinking Forgotten Sword is that pre-FE7 project he's working on. I've seen the Uther sprite in his gallery.

@Myke - Loving your concepts, but I'm wondering if you use guidelines? It helps loads with proportions if you aren't. I don't recommend tracing/copying poses exactly, as a lot of anime art isn't terribly proportional. It's definitely good you're taking influence from FE art, though. FE9/10 artwork is fairly proportional and serves as an excellent reference.

Yeah. I recently picked up a crapload of reference sheets and stuff from /ik/ and have been trying my best to use them, but often I just feel like doodling and draw what pops into my head. If I've planned something out ahead of time I'll often mark off head guides (head-chin-nipple-navel-crotch-midthigh-midcalf-ankle) and pull out my muscle reference sheets but usually end up erasing and redrawing so much I deviate way beyond what I'd planned on drawing.

but I'm fat and any cool poses would hurt

I was using my mother's for a while, but she's moved out of state now. Funny how you don't think about things until they're gone and you have to buy your own >:

also thanks guys <3

Awesome drawings man. I didn't really know what to saaay. ;)

Myke - December 10, 2008 02:06 AM (GMT)
Here, have some newer stuff.
Forgotten Sword
Toni
Leonard
Regal Uther pose with tl;dr text.
Marcus armour reference woo

Other
Hayt sucking at Brawl. Was gonna use for FEF art contest but don't really have the time.

Lucius - December 10, 2008 02:42 AM (GMT)
Playing Brawl like that is gey.

Aeorys Kirru - December 10, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
Stuff looks awesome. I can't help but LOL @ the preppy, younger Isadora pic. She gives me the impression that Nephnee was implanted with Serra's personality. Uther. Is. Win.

Myke - December 19, 2008 05:43 PM (GMT)
Here have a Cybelle and a Chester.
More forgotten sword junk to come when I stop being a lazy douche.

aznswordmaster1 - December 19, 2008 06:39 PM (GMT)
For Cybelle, her arms are a little short, they should reach half way to her thighs with the fingers spread open. I measured Chester's visible arm and thats a little to long. Otherwise I seem some improvements coming along. ;)

Myke - December 19, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
hate arms.

Chester's is more of a perspective thing. His upper leg appears really short since he's knees supposed to be towards the camera, I just didn't do it very well >:

Anyway, Hassar's concept is done. Like Eagler, this ill-proportioned mess isn't really worth critiquing; just think of it as a sloppy design reference.
