Title: FES Mafia 3

Dez384 - May 5, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
Time for Round 3!

For those who don't know how to play, here's what you do. First, people will sign up. I will act as the mediator. Once everyone is signed up, I will select special people. Most will be members of the mafia, and one will be a guardian angel. The mafia members will discuss through PMs who they want to eliminate from the members (kill) and the guardian angel can select one member who they want to be saved, and tell me through a PM. The guardian angel can be killed, but he/she can also save him/herself. There's also a detective who asks me if someone is in the mafia.

Once this happens, I will announce who was killed. The people still left in the game will discuss who they think the mafia members might be, and then they will elect to remove one member from the game. The mafia members will be involved in the discussion to hopefully draw blame away from themselves.

Who wants to play?

EDIT: We should put in more roles or an extra faction so this doesn't get boring.

Trying to make a massive list game was a mistake, especially with all the overcomplicated filler special roles I put in just to make a fairly cool but impractical idea work.

I'll start a new round sometime.

He would probably add in more stuff like more roles or factions as I stated earlier before.

Methinks it's kinda pointless...

Besides, it already takes long enough to get all the special peeps to tell me their choices.

Pretty soon this gets boring if you don't add in a few new special roles.

Like add in a hitman that can kill one person a night, but is aligned with the cits. then you can have a mafiaman who's sole job is to look for the hitman.

it adds fun and depth really.

Then if you add in special factions. Like lets say you add a second mafia group to it, they are trying to wipe out the first while they are taking out the cits.

these all require more people than the standard game, but they are usually more fun.

Black_Knight_456 - May 6, 2008 12:06 PM (GMT)
The problem with that is that we don't really get enough people. The same people from round to round sign up every time.

We get 15 people. That's easily enough.

My site gets 15 people most of the time too, and sometimes not even that.

Dez384 - May 6, 2008 09:28 PM (GMT)
i still don't see the point of more factions/roles.

Makes the games far more interesting. Add in a cult and you have to keep wondering if the guy the Detective investigated it still a citizen. Add in a second mafia group and the fact that someone's suspicion is genuine loses its worth. You really have to think a lot harder in those games, where it's not just one way or the other. The current way gets boring really quickly, because it's always the same thing again and again.

You know what I think we should do? We should have something to argue about every single round so that we can vote Othin off first round. %::%

Arc - May 6, 2008 10:32 PM (GMT)
It can even get supernatural, I've seen a game with mafia and werewolves, a game with zombies, and I've hosted a game with Vampires and they've all worked well. Really fun too. But honestly, even something as simple as a vigilante spices things up.

And with this many people, we can get a good game going.

Ha! So Othin is to here what RM is to EM! Don't worry Othin, I won't vote you out right away...

I agree with Arc and Othin though. Adding in new hidden roles or a new group makes the game more fun and can sometimes speed the game up...like that game we had with government, mafia, and citizens. That game was basically over in a week.

Near - May 6, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
I think I've proven sufficiently by now that the fact that I act like mafia in the first round says nothing about my role. <__<;

Black_Knight_456 - May 6, 2008 11:32 PM (GMT)
I fail to see the logic in that, why would you try to act like mafia if you aren't?

...What?

It's just the way I play. As you saw last round, I play that way regardless of my role.

Just because you disagree with it doesn't mean there's any way for it to not be true.

Larry - May 6, 2008 11:35 PM (GMT)
Othin 4 Mafia next round.

Adding in Mafia jobs would be stupid, but a nice addition. Sure, he was mafia, but he was just the delivery boy for the mafia. This guy was mafia AND he was the Don. Ka-ching!

Anyway, that would be stupid and pointless, but an amusing addition.

It would be cool if the Mafia could offer one cit per round to join them. The detective role would get less certain, causing mass confusion and fun.

Arc - May 6, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
Thats what the cult does. It starts out with one or two characters, and the main cult leader can recruit other members into the cult. Their objective is to be the only group left.

I've seen that idea used a few times, although it would probably work better if the recruiter was a separate isolated role. (They don't know the identities of the other mafia members, and vice versa.)

Would probably work even better if it had to be done a few days in (maybe Night 3?), so it's more like the cult idea in that you're recruiting someone who's most likely acted as a citizen beforehand.

Hey, whatever. I've only played Mafia once. Dunno all the variety and crap.

I vote for including a cult.

A vigilante significantly decreases the citizens chances to win. He's worth than the mafia because he doesn't even know who to kill.

He doesn't have to kill. If he does, it's because he's fairly confident in who he's targeting, even if he's not as confident in his ability to convince everyone to vote for them.

Once again, adds another layer to the game.
