Title: Pkmn!

which one do you think is the best?

personally, I think D/P kind of sucked... very disappointing, crappy pokemon style

favorite would be gold/silver/crystal, then emerald and special pikachu version.

lol none of my favorite pkmn are in D/P

first two generations. I thought the 3rd sucked and 4th, while it doesn't compare to the 1st and 2nd it is better than the 3rd.

When I read the title I thought Pikmin, it's funny they're not too far off.

Even though my favourite pokemon is from the 3rd generation, I personally liked 2nd generation the most.

yeah i loved the 1st and 2nd generations, the only thing i happened to like about the newer ones i would like to see in older ones is the speed increase of the gameplay, but i guess if i just used pokemon stadium or something, then that would fix that

ArchaiaSai - March 10, 2009 11:57 PM (GMT)
lol i thought 3rd was ok, but i dont like the 3d animation in the 4th... and there's no way im going to get platinum... echh...

and have you noticed that as the games progress they get easier?

Same thought.

I think many of the 4th generation Pokemon look very stilted

However I think that Turtwig's design is acceptable.

I think Palkia and Dialga are some of the strangest Legendary Pokemon yet, although I also like Darkrai's design.

The best generation to me was the 2nd generation, the first one I played

lol, D/P/P took everything you liked about Pokemon styles, distorted it, and then through in bull shit awesome gameplay.

3rd and 4th generations just served to tack on a whole bunch of extra features that weren't really all that stellar at first and after a long while simply served to get boring. At the same time, the battle system has changed so much that only a handful of Pokemon nowadays are considered "good", while the rest of them - more than 450, iirc - suck.

1st and 2nd generation were more simplistic, but you got quality games and a good battle system. RBYGSC teams could have pretty much any fully evolved Pokemon on a team and still do decently by competitive battling standards held back then. With natures, EVs, IVs, and all of that other ridiculous shit coming into play, Pokemon has come down to just having the most powerful ones and wasting hours on end to just get stats pumped up by a small bit in certain areas.

I rank them like this:

Gameplay: 2nd > 1st > 4th > 3rd

Pokemon themselves: 1st > 2nd >>>>>>>>>>>>> 3rd >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 4th

Storyline: 4th >>>> 3rd >>>>>>>>>> 2nd >>>>>>>>>>>>> 1st

I thought GSC was the most fun overall, though, and 16 badges to attempt to earn is way more fun than stagnant shit like the Battle Tower/Frontier in RSEDPP. Crystal's was way more challenging than those, too. I only won a few matches in it.

Dark Overlord Zack - March 25, 2009 08:18 PM (GMT)
oh yeah

Team Rocket >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Team Galactic >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Team Magma/Aqua

I think GSC was the best, since it was at that point that they were still adding the most useful new content and things hadn't started getting old yet. That said, I still enjoyed RSE and DPPT.

I agree with Denning the 3rd and 4th complicated the pokemon so much with the whole natures and EVs and Ivs

2nd>>>>>>4th>>1st>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>3rd
even though some of my favorite pokemon are also from the 3rd

i like platinum(not DP) and GSC the best
i never really played RBY but i did play firered and leafgreen but i know they are very different

team galactic(in platinum) was personally my favorite team because they were "made" very well they had a purpose that made sense and was well devolped
the commanders were more than just grunts with names unlike Team aqua/ magma
And cyrus the last time was actully pretty challenging, for me at least.
i liked the idea behind them and what they were trying to accomplish
team aqua/ magma were terrible and not even challenging with their 3 pokemon
poochyena, carvanha/ numel, and zubat thats all they ever used

i still liked RSE alot
Saphirre was the first pokemon game i ever played so i still really like those ones.
emerald was better than besides for its champion >:/

I actually like the battle system in D/P. Not the IVs and EVs, but the separation of s[special attacks and physical attacks. I feel it added more depth to the battles and raising pokemon.
