Title: Being a parent!
Khriss - March 24, 2009 08:00 AM (GMT)
I plan on having kids someday, definitely. Being a father would be a dreamlike role for me. I have past issues that make me strive to be a good father, and I have devoted time to learning about child development, as well as working out my own theory on methods of building a highly functioning, well organized, but most importantly, happy mind. I can't wait!
I've been trying to think of names, but I'm not too deadset on any specific one.
Boy: Godric, Tyr
Girl: Eliana
Either(Favourite name): Sage
What about y'all?
Aeorys Kirru - March 24, 2009 02:25 PM (GMT)
Parenthood is something I'd dread. I like kids and all, but seeing what my parents went through bringing both my little brother and me up, I almost don't want one.
I feel that names for boys should be practical and short.
- Ray, Lance, John, Troy, to name a few
I like pretty names for girls.
- Anne, Marie, Ciel, Iris, Elise, Crystal

Huh. If I get a boy he's gonna be named Logan for sure.
Girl.. Probably Leona or Mina.
Only things I'm worried about is having to bust Logan a good one up side the head when I find his stash of weed.. Or walking in on Mina as some punk is banging her brains out. Oh the things I'm gonna have to worry bout.

I can't wait until I'm a father. :D
I would want one boy and one girl both close in age.
Boy names:
Marshall
Howard
Pierce
Merc
Girl names:
Ivy
Dorothy
Holly
Nina

I haven't really decided whether or not I want to have kids yet. All I really know is I'd like the option, if I ever do get to that point in a relationship or into a relationship in general..
Lets see... names...
For a boy:
Vernon
Colt
Quinn
For a girl:
Emily
Amber
Amanda

I'd, personally, never adopt a kid. I like my genetics. x] If I don't end up having a kid with somebody, then I won't have a kid. (except the ones from sperm donating)

Who here thinks they are going to get what they desire?
I don't want to sound mean, but I imagine everyone here would want their kids to be smart, beautiful, sociable, good and pwn.
Also, when I say I want one boy and one girl, I just know I'm going to get three boys and a turtle. But I wouldn't complain with what I end up with, I just hope for what I prepare myself for.
What do you guys think?
Zephiel - March 25, 2009 01:22 AM (GMT)
I don't know if I want to be a parent or not. It's a huge responsibility and I'm not exactly very responsible. I think I'm the kind of person who has to wait a bit after settling down so I can assure myself that I can support and handle a child. One uncle of mine has a wife but no kids because he doesn't think he would be able to support a child, and one aunt is in one of those relationships where the couple stays together forever and isn't "officially" married so they don't have any kids.
I don't think I could possibly choose a name D: How about Aaragorn or Chewbacca?

Lol @ The turtle part
I'm not too concerned with what gender my children end up being, although I would prefer having a son and a daughter close in age. xP
I'm picky with relationships and my genetics on both sides are pretty fantastic, so I'm pretty confident that my kid will end up with a good hand.
-Chances are my kids will have an abnormal ability to learn, and since I'll be the one raising them, they'll definitely learn properly (unlike myself). They'll be [pwn] smart, pretty certain.
-Both sides of my family are also ridiculously strong and physically fit/healthy, and because I have knowledge in nutrition and health, I'm not worried about them being body weak. They'll have a good genetic base, and fantastic environmental development. They'll be [pwn] physically fit, pretty certain.
Also, given that they develop healthily, their chances of being good looking are pretty good, too. I'm pretty sure I'm good looking, and hopefully my lover will be, too.
-Sociably, I'm not sure. It's plausible for them to end up insane, as my mothers side is chock-full of mental disorders. I have quite a few, too, nothing extreme ... except maybe the unholy combination of both OCD and ADD. I'll have to do more genetic screening to see what sort of traits I could pass down.
I can make sure (not completely, of course) my child doesn't develop in a way that creates social complexes, as I know tons about them, how to avoid them, and how to fix them. I don't control everything (or even that much) over their social development, though, so I dunno, lol. I'll do everything I can to make sure they're happy with their relations, though.

One thing is for sure: I sure is hell ain't raising my kids the way my parents raised me.
I had no chores, no responsibilities and most of the time I got what I want. Now I'm a lazy bastard with no job, no license, and I just realized going to college would be a good idea.
My parents both love soccer so much that they decided not to put me into any sports, not even soccer. My kid will play sports. Oh yes he will, I'll be that crazy son of a gun who wants his kid to live the life he never had.
I'm debating whether or not to put my kid in hockey because being in hockey guarantees a) your kid will smoke weed and B) your kid will be an asshole in high school.
Other than that, raising a child can't be that hard!
Aeorys Kirru - March 25, 2009 02:51 AM (GMT)
I'd adopt. Leaving it up for chance in the world for me.
My brother is nothing like me, and both of our parents have some pretty fair genes. There's always that grand- or great-grand- or whatever random generation wildcard when it comes to genetics. You never really know what you're going to get.
Dei Enyt - March 25, 2009 03:06 AM (GMT)
My biggest concern isn't the number or gender of my kid(s) as much as it is their mental health, ect.
Disabilities run in my family. Someone on my dad's side has cerebral palsy, my dad has Asperger's Syndrome, I have Asperger's Syndrome, and my brother has a full-blown case of autism.
I don't want any kids that I have to go through the the bullshit courses that are special education that I had to during school. :/
Denning Rosewater - March 25, 2009 02:38 PM (GMT)
I actually am looking forward to having children once I'm stable, out of college/military life, and have the perfect woman to bear children with.
I want sons, though. I don't have a sister, so I think I could better identify with having male offspring; plus, there's less issues to worry about later down the road, such as teenage pregnancies, etc...
Names: Quinton, Saul, Damascus... Those are possible choices. As for diseases or disorders, my side doesn't really have many. My mom is a breast cancer survivor, though.
Jeigan - March 25, 2009 08:58 PM (GMT)
I look forward to having kids. I'd like either 2 daughters or 1 boy and 1 girl. I would'nt mind a turtle >_> Anyway, as long as they are healthy, I don't care that much about gender.
For names, Oscar or Daniel for boys. For a girl, Maria Luisa, Laura, Rosalba, Ana + another name, probably Julia or Claudia.
Lubu - March 26, 2009 04:43 AM (GMT)
1 or 2 kids, don't care about gender i'll love em anyways. Use what i've picked up being in the army to give them a good future(along with all those nice health benefits). As for names, first boy has to be Roger after my passed away father, girls or 2nd boy would be wifes choice.
FullMetalOsaka - March 29, 2009 02:54 AM (GMT)
I definately think I'll have kids, I just dont look forward to being in the female position of having kids D:
But ideally, 3 guys, one girl. Or 2/2.
I don't know that much about the long adoption process, so I feel like I shouldn't talk about what I don't know about, but I really would like to adopt a girl from China.
Luke/Lucas will definately be a name for one of my kids. I was originally going to be Luke if I had been a boy. Maybe even Luca if I only have girls (god forbid, but it does run in the family. 27 cousins, only 6 are guys). And only, ONLY, if I have twins, one blond, one red-haired, they would have to be Lucas and Claus. It won't happen though XD. I like the idea of acrynoym names though. Might have to think about that more.
Xenx-Zona - March 29, 2009 03:49 PM (GMT)
Parenthood...? idk, but i want atleast one someday and hopefully a boy but either way i dont care. as far as raising them, my Parents are the greatest i could have gotten and i hope my kids think the same about me.
Names: boy: Edward, its the only name i have planned. Girl: Sarah, Amber, or Dawn
Zanryu - March 29, 2009 08:23 PM (GMT)
I'd like one or two kids, I don't mind the gender or how spread apart they are in age either. I have no names planned out yet (more focused on school and getting prepped to take my driving test over names of kids I won't have until I'm 20), but I'm pretty sure one of my kids will end up being bipolar. >_>
