Title: So, let's talk...
Aeorys Kirru - April 4, 2009 07:13 AM (GMT)
...about whatever seems to be on our minds.
I always feel obligated to post something, but I never really have anything to say. I guess this is more of a "ramble to your heart's content" kind of thread rather than any particular topic. I picked General as opposed to Spamerica because I figured this would at least be halfway serious. Change topics and etc. as you will, just keep spam to a minimum.
So, what to talk about...
Currently, the thing that's majorly on my mind is my cats (or just pets in general). Yes, cats. Now isn't that random? I love my cats, and I've been obsessing over them since I got them last July. I don't think I've ever been so attached to my pets before. It's different having a furry friend who's allowed in the house (opposed to dogs, which aren't allowed inside). It's really different from having other kinds of pets, and I find it kind of funny how I used to dislike them. They aren't as goofy or friendly as dogs, but they're amusing in their own way.
Leading off from that, I wonder how my lilies are blooming. Our garden is notorious for having either mutant plants or dead ones, and I actually had to try and make the callas live this year. Three popped out nice and tall, and a fourth one is growing in. I'm not much of a gardener, but I love my calla lilies. It's funny how they die and just come back the next year.

Prior to this topic I was just thinking about my plans for the summer. I'm thinking about backpacking across North America with my BFF. Which means planning out the trip as well as studying survival..! She seems more interested in it than me, but I admit it sounds like an amazing plan. I'll have to secure checkpoints along the way. I figure that I have a place to stay in Oregon, California and Nevada. And if this all goes well, I might even be asking the people here I'm closer with if I could crash at their place. XD
I was also going over my night in my head. I went out with a friend I haven't seen in years. She's much more mature now, and she looks and sounds completely different. We went to an arcade, played pool, and checked out each others houses. I hung out with her crew, which was nice. They seemed like fairly simple people, but we did a lot of fun, interactive stuff together, and nobody seemed uncomfortable around me, at least.
After this topic I started thinking, "Whoa, AK is an adult!". Are you on your on, Aeo? Either way, you've inadvertently broadened my horizons with your post by introducing elements I had not considered to be focuses. I live on an animal rescue, and my grandma is a florist. Needless to say, having pets of my own and keeping my own garden never occurred to me, although both sound wonderful.
I should be getting to bed. I've got to wake up and go to a weight pull tomorrow, and then I might go swimming with some friends in the next town over at the water slide pool.
Dark Overlord Zack - April 4, 2009 04:57 PM (GMT)
15 year old girls like me too much. They're sweet and all but they need to go away. Also I've come to the conclusion I hate the very existence of alcohol. It's ruined too many people I know, fuck that shit.
that's about it lol.
Spitfire - April 4, 2009 06:32 PM (GMT)
I hate when swedish people tell me ellipses should be three periods long.. NOT MINE!
Aeorys Kirru - April 4, 2009 07:35 PM (GMT)
@DH - >: I have no idea what I'm going to be doing over the summer. Normally, we go on a trip. I think we're heading to Alaska? Not sure. I've been totally out of it for the last few months, and I have no idea why I've been so spacey lately.
Survival sounds interesting, but I think I'd be one of the first to die. I'm not a wilds person, and I know it. >>
...and no, I live at home. Our family seems to have a knack for keeping together, plus my little brother is still in grade school. I don't really do romantic relationships, and I'm a social hermit outside of forums. If I did live on my own, I'd be that cat lady down the street who plants flowers and stuff for fun. D8 I really would.
I take care of the cats and the flowers, though. It's almost kind of an idle thing.
@DOZ - ...that's rather interesting. ._.;
...and onto other random topics popping into my head...
I'm going to hack a lung one of these days. Bloody doctors don't know what the hell is wrong with me, and I hate visiting them anyway. Chinese medicine isn't working, and it tastes awful to boot. No idea what's wrong with me. Probably not life threatening, but this cough is making my very existence a right pain in the rear.
On that note, I'd rather not go to the acupuncturist and get poked. Doesn't at all sound like a pleasant experience. Never liked needles, never will. >>
Do any of you know what might possibly be wrong with a laptop if it doesn't go out of sleep/hibernate mode? My computer's been a real ass lately. I used to be able to put it to sleep, hit Enter, and resume my session later, but as of late, it's just been keeping a black screen. It's a real pain to have to actually shut down the computer and restart every time. Perhaps I'm just lazy, though.
Spitfire - April 5, 2009 01:07 AM (GMT)
About the computer, try hitting Ctrl + Alt + Del.
Or just google your problem. If I ever have a problem with my comp, I just google it. There's always an answer B)
Denning Rosewater - April 5, 2009 08:59 PM (GMT)
My Spring Break starts officially tomorrow. Yesterday I went to my neighbor's birthday party despite my back condition, but there wasn't much else to do but throw a football around with some kids and their dad. I had fun, however, and their dad was really cool. Not much for clean appearances, and he was only 25, but, he was still pretty cool. The kids are lucky to have a guy like that.
Today I wanted to go to church, but my mom said that there was probably going to be some heavy stuff to move in the bookstore, so a hell no to that. She wanted me to stay and clean - I didn't clean - but when she got back from Wal-Mart, she wanted me to carry all that stuff in. When I get the huge bin with all of the groceries in it, I remembered usually using more of my lower body than I did today, but since my upper body is stronger - it appears to be, anyway - it wasn't too much of a problem, because I hoisted the bin over my left shoulder. The problem came when I had to crouch a little bit to get through the doorways leading to the kitchen. I came out fine, though.
This week I have to take the CPT, however. It's cool, though. I'll also go to the doctor, and my brother's got to see the orthodonist, so maybe I'll see him, as well. Then I have a doctor's appointment - some business about not being caught up on my shots or whatnot, and if my back's still bad, I'll see to that, too - and then, the world's my Augustes; I'll have to wait a while, but Spring Break'll finally begin for real this time.
Dark Overlord Zack - April 6, 2009 12:28 AM (GMT)
Good lord Isara's eyes are HUEG in the anime. Welkin runs like a retard too. Oh well that art thing they did in the game is still there, that's pretty cool.
Seafood tonight ergh. To be honest I liked it a lot when I was little but as I aged my taste for seafood has gone down a lot. I'll only eat fish if it's cooked a certain way. Thank god my mther is a good cook. The only seafood I really like is shrimp, I just had some boiled with melted butter on the side. I had a steak last night, it was good but roughly half of it was fat. hate getting a bad cut of meat. Makes me want to punch a something defenseless.

i made a friend today
im almost at 10 friends now woooooooo
Aeorys Kirru - April 6, 2009 07:59 AM (GMT)
@Spitfire - Actually, I sys. restored my comp to before Wednesday's update, and it all started working the right way after that.
...anyway...
I'm only now realizing what a very, VERY odd collection of songs I have in my playlist. I decided to break my norm of listening to the same song for days on end and switched instead to putting all my songs on one playlist and listening through...
...and getting very odd surprises. ._.;
Jeigan - April 6, 2009 07:03 PM (GMT)
Really? What have you been listening to?
Aeorys Kirru - April 6, 2009 07:56 PM (GMT)
LOL Basically whatever. I don't have country, rap, or metal on here, though. It was just interesting listening to some opera, then suddenly popping into the Barbie Song, or something random like that. ._.; And it isn't even on shuffle, either.
FullMetalOsaka - April 6, 2009 11:16 PM (GMT)
So, I'm on my way to buying a snake. I'm cash-less, and no job, and I get underpayed for jobs around the house, so I think Imma try to figure out a babysitting job, as much as I don't want too. I had originally wanted a grey-banded kingsnake, beautiful snakes (
image), but I then realized they're expensive and hard to find. And I would also feel horrible if something happened because of my own inexperience, people say heating and feeding can be difficult . So now, I'm just going to get a cornsnake. Anerythyristic is a beautiful morph I'm looking for. It's kind of like albino, but it's only the red gene that's been taken out. Very pretty snakes too.
image. So now all it comes down to is getting enough money. I already have most of the tank elements, water bowl, substrate, houses and whatnot. But I only have a ten gallon, and my friend is offering me his already-sanitized 20gal. for when little Ohso (the name I decided on. Mother 3 anyone?) gets bigger. I also need to find a local cornsnake breeder, if there are any around here. Mail-ordering may be the only choice. I don't really want to buy a petstore snake, as bad as I feel about it. They would definately be overpriced if they even had and Anerys (I saw a store trying to sell an albino corn for $130 XD ), and petstore snakes are nortorious for diseases and parasites. Such cute baby ball pythons though, it's sad. Pet stores are such rip-offs though. They sell frozen pinkies for about 1.50 each. I'm plannng on buying mine from rodentpro.com. 16 cents each, although shipping is really expensive, but even with shipping, it only comes to about 50 cents at most, depending on how many bags you get. They're sold in 100 packs.
On a similar note, I've been almost obsessed with snakes recently. I've been scouting out the local serpentarium and I'm very seriously considering offering myself as a volunteer. I'm not even sure that they take volunteers, let alone 16 year olds. I really hope so though.
Spitfire - April 7, 2009 03:38 PM (GMT)
I just had a terrible dream.
I was at a hobby shop, and I saw the game case for Super Robot Taisen: Original Generations 2. So I was jacked up and ready to buy it. So I asked for it and the store clerk took it out, opened the box and said "cartridge isn't in here, someone already bought it".
I was devastated :(
Note: I just bought SRT:OG1 and am now looking for SRT:OG2 which I have found at the mall before but did not buy. Now I want it :S
Also I can't find FE9 anywhere. ****ing rare games.
Dez384 - April 7, 2009 03:46 PM (GMT)
On the topic of pets, does anyone know the return policy on ferrets? I was thinking of buying one at Petco and seeing the looks of the admins at my school when I walk in holding a ferret. The only pets we can have are fish and the like, so I wouldn't mind buying a ferret for day, depending on the return policy at Petco.
My first class was at 8:55 AM today. I woke up at 7:45 AM thinking I had slept through my first two classes (which would be all my classes today). I then slept in increments of ten minutes until I had to go to my first class. Maybe I need to stop playing Civilization 3 into the wee hours of the morning...
Jeigan - April 7, 2009 06:29 PM (GMT)
@AK: lol, that happens to me sometimes, but when it is on shuffle. It's kinda funny how I'm listening to Metallica and after that it's Madonna's "Like a virgin."
Speaking of Metallica, I wasn't able to go buy a ticket for their concert because I had an exam. They opened another date but nobody I know is going that day, and no way in hell I'm going to Mexico city on my own.
In Spitfire's words, I was devastated.
Aeorys Kirru - April 7, 2009 08:16 PM (GMT)
@FMO - 8D SNAAAAAKES~♥ I had a phase where I loved reptiles and such stuff to death. Unfortunately, my mom is scared as hell of crawlies, so the most we ever got was a couple of lizards. Also, live mice are, like, 65 cents. I'm serious. Well, at least where I'm from, anyway.
@Spit - Sounds terrible.
@Dez - No idea. Ferrets are illegal in California. ...and not for any terribly legitimate reason, either.
@Jeigan - LOL Now THAT's awkward. XD
...and I'm hating on my flat root beer. T_T
Black_Knight_456 - April 7, 2009 08:18 PM (GMT)
Bah...Metallica concerts disappoint me greatly. It isn't exactly the greatest idea for me to be spending that money when I have to borrow for all of my tuition and books. I can barely afford gas right now >.<. There is even one very nearby this time around, and I wish that I could fucking go. Knowing how things are looking next semester even if I felt comfortable spending the money I'd probably be too busy to be able to go.
Also on music....Megadeth - The Scorpion....is really really good imo.
I've been rather dead for the past school year essentially. Having college and playing WoW(Yeah, I'm lame like that. Sue me.) and friends = little time! As you see though, activity is on the rise....to a controlled point anyway. o:
Tell me what you see here, if you see here.
AK: Drink that soda faster!
Dark Overlord Zack - April 7, 2009 09:45 PM (GMT)
so anyway my youngest sister is staying at the house with her former boyfriend now husband. She's almost 2 months pregnant. She had mood swings before but good god now it's CUHRAZY.
FMO: You're just so cool
Zephiel - April 8, 2009 01:42 AM (GMT)
@Concerts
I kind of wanted to get a ticket to a Def Leppard/Poison/Cheap Trick concert from the tour they're doing this summer. Two locations are conveniently located near me, but I can't think of anyone to go with :[ I too think going to a concert is weird doing alone, kind of like going to the movies.
I kind of want to see the lineup for Musikfest this year. I live near the area and it's probably cheaper than the aformentioned concert... None of the lineup looks too impressive right now aside from George Thorogood, but that's not until August D:
Dez384 - April 10, 2009 04:09 AM (GMT)
I built a desktop, but it didn't work. The BIOS was faulty. I put the motherboard back in the PC after letting it sit out a month. It magically worked. I'm ecstatic. Except it is at school and I'm at home and my games consist of Civ3 and WoW.
FullMetalOsaka - April 11, 2009 05:20 PM (GMT)
@Spit- That reminds me of a dream I had once when I was little where I really wanted to get a pokemon embroidered pillow from some arcade-type place, but it was 30,000 tickets or something. So I worked super-hard to get it but when I tried to give the tickets to the girl at the desk she gave me a picture of the pillow, with "If you work hard enough, all your dreams will come true" or some other similar BS written on it XD
@AK: Haha the main block for me was my mom was too lazy to take care of it for maybe the one year that Both my sister and I would be in college, and I don't even know where I'll be living and if it allows snakes that year. But they are dang expensive D: Lives around here are about 1.20, and frozens about the same. I'm just going to use an online provider.
@DOZ: :rose:
Denning Rosewater - April 12, 2009 01:31 AM (GMT)
I still think a monitor lizard would be a pretty cool pet, personally. If you think snakes are hard to take care of, then...
But, depending on where you live, reptiles/amphibians shouldn't generally be too hard to take care of. I drowned some frogs before, though. <__<;;
Dark Overlord Zack - April 12, 2009 03:44 AM (GMT)
Tegus are pretty sweet too.
FullMetalOsaka - April 13, 2009 11:37 PM (GMT)
Tegus are pretty nice indeed. They have a couple at the serpentarium. Friendly little fellas.
I've had a four and five year old sneak onto my back porch though once and killed over a hundred tadpoles ma dad found in a puddle and brought home. They poured the whole food flake jar into a already super-cramped 10gal. tank, all of the tads suffocated. I can't stand those kids.

My arms are itchy? It happens whenever I sit in Fix's bean bag, but that's the only way to access her computer. I guess it stops me from staying on too long I guess; if I do, I come up in hives.
Aaron - April 14, 2009 08:59 PM (GMT)
Sitting around in my computer chair, thinking of what to do...
I have not been actively spriting at all for the past month or so, I don't know, I don't feel like it, I feel like I want something more I want to do more bigger pieces of work, hand-drawn work but I don't necessarily want to do anime, I guess anime is a good place to start for what I want to do though, it's a fairly simplified way of getting proportions right.
I'm practicing drawing right now, it's been a good while since I've picked up a pencil for this purpose but, thanks to spriting and observing I'm doing much MUCH better than I did before. Right now I'm mostly focusing on muscle proportions right now.
In short, I want to do art that isn't spriting.

I know how you feel, Aaron. For awhile I wanted to do something different and unique and not seen on these boards. Last summer I got into Lego-based stuff. I made some FE-themed lego figures with custom decals which I might post later if I ever think they don't suck. For awhile I've been wanting to get into SSBB texture hacking but I haven't found an adequate guide on the internet. All of them just throw words at me I've never heard of, lol.
Dark Overlord Zack - April 15, 2009 03:40 AM (GMT)
reminiscing with nin in chat was fun just now. shit was SO crackers.
speaking of FE themed things. I am gonna try and work on a stage for LBP in the future that will be all FEish.
