In 1692 pandemonium erupted in Salem Massachusetts and 20 men and women lost their lives, another 17 died in prison and not one of them had been a single witch. They were all innocent civilians wrongly accused of witchcraft. The true witch families who had witnessed the chaos and madness from those they once called neighbors and friends, began to see the destruction humans caused when they did not understand different ways other than thier own surfaced. Joining together they fled north to one of many islands for sanctuary and found the Island of Saint Anthony, the saint of lost souls.
Here they decided to establish the town of Little Salem, but they were not alone. Another group had already established themselves and were not to keen on having more people on their land. The witches pled with the Wolves, and most of the Werewolves were sympathetic to their cause having been hunted themselves and the majority agreed to share the island.
As times changed, and the need for growth became the goal of human civilization, the original citizens of Little Salem learned to control and hide their abilities, hoping to live once again amongst humans without the risk of fear and persecution. Others were not so open, but were outvoted by the majority and had to learn to adapt or be forced into exile.
It wasn’t until the early 1900’s did the pair of groups get a visit from a third and even more deadly group. Braeden Donovan, as well as a woman named Blake and another man named Cole arrived in New Salem. The trio too seemed to be looking for a safe haven, but the witches and the wolves were very reluctant to have them share the island, the Vampires preyed on humans while the wolves had leaned to prey on other animals that roamed in the forests. Braeden assured the leader of the Werewolves, Michael Carlisle and the Crone of the Witches, Esmeralda Linwood they would learn as the Wolves had and prey on animals. He convinced them they were different from other Vampires and searched for a way to survive rather then live the way they had been cursed.
So began the Treaty of Three, a treaty designed to protect the humans as well as the Vampires, the Wolves and the Witches. The Rules of the Treaty were that no harm was to come to any human; no human should ever learn the true identity of any member of the groups or of their existence, and to never purposely hurt another member of the treaty. Any violation of these rules meant death, death for all those involved. This was the only way to keep their lives a secret.
Since then the town of Little Salem has grown. More humans have moved in, the Witches have decreased in number but a new coven, the first complete coven since 1692 has come into being. The wolf population has also grown somewhat and the great-great-grandson of Michael Carlisle, Adrian Carlisle has taken his position as leader among the Wolves. Braeden Donovan has divided the vampires into three “families” and placed himself as Elder, and a new Leader of the Witches has also risen to power.
Many of the vampires, witches and werewolves are too young and to remember the harsh times their ancestors had to go through. They are young, powerful and strong, but some of the humans have had enough. Those who know of their existence have come to Little Salem for a chance to wipe them off the face of the earth, others for revenge. Tensions are rising amongst the groups, both internally and externally. There are those who wish to keep the peace, others who don’t care or want to be what they are, and those who wish to become all powerful and destroy or enslave the humans of Little Salem and take what’s rightfully theirs.
