A tad too dark in my opinion, but a fine picture nonetheless..

How to make the surrounding so dark? Was it done in a studio or just a casual shoot in a restaurant...??

This was shot in a ballroom, during a function where I was covering the event. Shooting at a large apperture combined with fast shutter speed - results in lesser light entry, hence ambient light will not be captured.
