Nice photo, doug!

Composition can be improved by shooting vertically with more room to the sides as I feel the cropping is too tight.

I will attempt to try this shot myself and post it up here to let you get an idea of my impression.

Try to shoot with Carbonated water as suggested in the mag more bubbles that way...

Good attempt for the strawberries. If you wish to capture the beauty of the subject and bring out the vibrant red, do make an effort to re-position them so that they look less messy. Place them against natural lightsource eg. sunlight from the window as that will usually give you the best effect as opposed to using flash or florenscent lights.

To capture concept shots like dropping strawberries into water is not easy so I'd say you've done well by just making that attempt.

1. Think about the lighting
2. Like Isaac pointed out, framing is just too tight hence you cannot feel the strawberries being dropped into the water (Portrait orientation is right but do give it more space for that feel)
3. Consider using a thinner glass, e.g. highball instead of a rock glass

Keep shooting :)

Arrange the composition of strawberries & the leafs too !
Take out (or hide) the "rotten"one from the front seat. Not too nice to look that

Yes I agree, better using a thin glass. Then you can play with the light ;)

If you can provide more light to the object, you can use lower ISO ;)
