Title: My Mini Nat Geo

docdeng - January 19, 2009 12:55 PM (GMT)
Long time no post here.

I just went for a STAT 1-week unplanned vacation to the Philippines 3-11 Jan 09.

On 10-1-09 (day before going back to Singapore) my friends and I went on an ala Nat Geo adventure.
We went mountain trecking to Mount Pinatubo.

This is an active volcano which erupted in June 1991.

Now after 17 years the beast is now a sleeping beauty.

It was quite challenging and exhausting but in the end it was worth it.
After 1 hour drive with a 4WD vehicle, we had to treck on foot for 1-1/2 hour.
We left at 5 a.m. coz I wanted to see the sunrise as well.

Taken along the mountain ranges going to the volcano. The sun was just rising. Nice cold weather.

Then we headed for the volcano by foot.
We had a guide leading the way.

The path became narrower as we came closer to the volcano crater area.

Pretending not to be tired.

Finally.
We landed to what seemed to be Middle Earth.
There is a beautiful lake in the crater.

Crater view from the viewing deck.

We descended down to get a better view.

Thanks jupiter and Isaac.

I'll probably go again when I visit Philippines again.

Still a lot of things to shoot.
Some people even camp overnight in tents.

Hmm.. how much is a ticket to the Philippines? Since it's not too far away, maybe can get sifu to organize a family trip to shoot there spearheaded by you since you've been there before!

It'd definitely have my complete support! :D

I think its too late to organize now coz I wont be able to go on leave till June.

By then it will be rainy season in the Phil.

If some are keen, lets arrange for next year.
Best months are January and February coz the weather is cool.

@Jupiter. There are two small cubicles where you can relieve yourself but water may be a problem.

Otherwise, you give back to nature what you take. hahaha.

OMG super nice! The view is breathtaking! If you are going again, please let me know, i love to trek in places similar to your pictures. Your photos make me feel like posting some pictures from my previous trek. I'll see if i can dig them out and share with you.
