Hi Doug,
Is the vip seated or standing? :)
The standing figure is blurred, while the seated figure is seated with the back facing the camera, so there's little way to identify people, though it's entirely optional to show faces, unless you really wanted people to identify faces.
Well, One of the things I see - is that you're trying to shoot with flash in a place lit with warm light.
The fill flash's well done, though I might want to bring up the issue that the colour of the flash is quite different from that of the environmental light.
The foreground light colour is slightly over-corrected here (slightly bluish) - the camera trying its best to compensate.
In this case it's good to match your flash colour temperature to that of the ambient light, then set that reference temperature as the white point of the camera.
Cheers,

Rich,
Think you ought to know that our young friend here is using a Lumix :)
Regards.
Jeff - April 23, 2009 04:58 PM (GMT)
He is using Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18
It's a good travelling camera, for going overseas ... ! :)

Ah oh, then it's hard to do anything much, but... if you can adjust the colour temperature of the camera to around 3300k, then fit a yellow plastic in front of the lens, yeah, you'd get yellow flash.
Yellow Flash + yellow ambient light, + camera tuned to identify yellow light as white light = a colour corrected photo. :D

Same method with what our friend Gary Fong did
In yellow light ambient, use Light Sphere Cloud type + amber dome and set WB to Tungsteen, get a colour corrected photo

Yes, it's very convenient, but essentially if you know how to do it - and also, the reasons behind it, you can do it yourself. :)
