Hi all,

I am hoping to organise an outing that aims to extend photography beyond its normal means. That is, to use photography as a vehicle to share with some of our fellow less-privileged friends in this society.

With this in mind, Jerry and myself have managed to work out something with Bishan Home (www.bishanhome.org.sg) and we hope to garner your support in this very meaningful activity/outing.

In this collaboration, volunteers who signed up will be spending a couple of hours with a selected group of residents who are intellectually-challenged. We are looking at an outing to the Botanic Gardens, where volunteers would each guide a resident to take pictures on their own (with close supervision). This should take no more than 3 hours, inclusive of a picnic session at the Gardens. Of course, you are welcomed to take photos along the way, although there are some guidelines which we will cover in a briefing at the start of the session.

After the outing, the group shall proceed back to Bishan Home, where each resident will have an opportunity to have some of their pictures printed. These will be given to them, in recognition of their newly-acquired photography skills. Imagine how much boost it will be for their confidence, to know that they can achieve something so complex (like photography) just like all of us! With the photos, I’m sure their parents and loved ones would also be able to share their joy, pride and success with them…

Please remember that seats are limited. The details are as follow:

Date: Either 13 June or 25 July
Time: In the morning. Event should end around 2pm or so.
Place: Bishan Home / Botanic Gardens

**Pre-requisite: Preferably those with digital compact cameras and willing to lend it out for this session. We have the assurance from the Home that these residents are extremely well-behaved, and should not have any problems with taking care of the loaned equipment. For those without digital compact cameras but keen to join, please indicate your name and indicate beside that you do not own one...we'll see what we can do to arrange this later.

Cost: $25 per pax (to cover food/drinks for the picnic, and also transportation costs for the residents, etc).

Jeffrey, use mine then. You be the caretaker for my Lumix. Don't think I can get the T200 out since technically it doesn't belong to me. Will tie down with you offline on how to pass you the cam :)
