Hi there,
Once again, we have another photo! What can you observe off this photo?
not sure what the photographer is trying to convey. this photo doesn't really grab my attention.
[1] yellow cast over the photo - maybe it's intended, but i think the white balance is off. more pleasing (to my eye) if sky was blue rather than yellow.
[2] horizon is nice and horizontal (no pun intended :P ) but divides the picture exactly into two equal halves. rule of thirds might be useful here to create a better balance. either 2/3 sea, or 2/3 sky, not half and half.
[3] there's a foreground interest (the rock) but i'm not sure if the rock, with the wave breaking over it, is the main subject, or the landscape (ie background is the main subject).
if it's the rock, i'd zoom in or crop so that the rock takes up most of the photo. would also consider slowing down the shutter speed to emphasize the movement of the water by blurring it (then again, maybe freezing the water breaking over it has nice dramatic effect too).
if it's the landscape, i'd zoom out to reduce the prominence of the rock, and would place the rock the bottom left of the screen, rather than in the center.
look forward to your feedback on my comments :P :P :P
Wow tat what i am going to say... I add will use a ND filter to create a silk like water....
Hi Cecil,
Good observation and you're obviously relating to what you have learned :)
Rule of thirds, foreground interest, flow of movement in the shot...I'm really impressed by your observation really :)
You certainly know what makes a great photo now...it's about time to go out and get those photos yourself!
Kind regards,
Julian W.
