Welcome Warrior, if you are reading this post you have an interest in knowing how the blade and the bow work in this world. Read on my friends, read on.

There are two possible ways for combat to take place. One is considerably simpler than the other.

Combat Type One
Choreographed Combat, this is where two characters speak before hand about the battle they are about to partake in. They decide the movements and the outcome before the event has begun. This way, everyone is in agreement before any combat takes place and the result is not a surprise. It does make good reading for external parties but can be less entertaining for those involved.

Combat Style Two
Forced Mistake Combat

Because we have a rule that you cannot take control of another player’s character, without their express permission you do not have the power to decide if your attack strikes your opponent. For example a basic combat strike should be type as:

Bob swings his sword towards Fred's left arm.

Rather than

Bob swings his sword and hits Fred's left arm.

In the latter, Fred has no say in the outcome. His character could be killed before he even gets the chance to draw his weapon. This is simply not fair.

The first option allows Fred to react and defend himself or move away from the situation. Thus:

Bob swings his sword towards Fred's left arm.
Fred moves to the right in order to dodge it

So, I hear you cry, How does one kill another character. Well, you have to use your mind, your tactics and your cunning in order to force your opponent to make a mistake or put them in a position where they are not able to defend. Think of it like chess. For example, as the fight progresses:

Bob swings his sword towards Fred's left arm.
Fred moves to the right in order to dodge it
Bob lunges forward, attempting to stab Fred in the stomach
Fred backs away quickly, avoiding the attack

Bob advances, and draws his second sword, holding them out to each side at a forty five degree angle
Fred has no choice but to back away further and reaches the corner of the room
Bob grins as he places his opponent exactly where he wants him. Bringing his left sword in with a sweeping arc level to Fred's middle he raises his right hand sword aloft and brings it down, point first with full force, attempting to stab Fred.
Fred looks up in horror at the impending blade, due to the position of Bob's body on the right, the blade on the left, the floor below and the blade to the north he has nowhere to go. He crouches.
Bob grunts as the left blade swings through, missing the head of crouching Fred, The crouch may have caused his mid level sweep to miss but the second blade comes down from above to make contact with Fred's back
Fred closes his eyes, he had nowhere to go and no way to block the blade, he cries out as it sinks into his back

Even at the end of the fight, Bob may be sure that his blade is going to make contact, however, it is still Fred that makes the choice, Obviously he has to play by the rules and accept his fate but he HAS to have the last say when it comes to his character.

Obviously combat will be longer, more detailed and probably be much more entertaining than the above but I hope that has kept it simple enough to follow.

When it comes to NPCs the player killing the NPC has total control and does not need to go through the above channels of combat.

So remember, if you are willing to get your character into a bad situation you have to be prepared to either get yourself out or allow your character to pass on. Admin's will check all fights.
