Title: Serenity RPG
Description: "Ah aim ta misbehave...."
Horizon - March 2, 2007 01:19 AM (GMT)
Rightyo. I'm bring back Serenity after breaking for 1 semester. Please advise whose in and when you're free. Please note that Chris is confirmed to run his dark fantasy game on monday afternoons. So it will have to be other weekday afternoons. I'll work my mechwarrior/battletech game details around Serenity.
I'm running Serenity for any number of players, minimum 3. You don't need to have read the RPG (though it helps). But I'll require all players to have watched the movie & tv series, at least once. If you haven't, the dvds are going cheap at JB hifi.
For those who might be interested but haven't a clue, Serenity is cross between a scifi + wildwest genre. I won't spoil it for you guys because you'll enjoy it once you watch the movie & series. Joss Wheldon spins a good story and great background for us to enjoy running a game in his 'verse.
I'll post more details about this game after I hear from more of you.

Could people who are keen to play Serenity, please list the times and days they are available? If we have enought people, I'ld like to start this week.

saturdays... lol
maybe I'll sit this one out... for that matter, it looks like I'm sitting most of them out. :(
Charisma - March 5, 2007 08:41 AM (GMT)
Meep, sorry I was away for the whole weekend so that's why I wasn't the first to post on this.
Otherwise...
SQUEEE!!!
And I'm free all day Wed, Fri, some Saturdays and the occasional Sunday afternoon. Monday as mentioned before is that dark fantasy one I'm not sure I'll join. Probably not if Serenity's running.
Lady D - March 5, 2007 09:28 AM (GMT)
Tuesday afternoons are good. Aside from that hahahahah my time table screws me over.
Charisma - March 5, 2007 02:44 PM (GMT)
Tuesday and Thursday at all are bad. Technically the only two days I've got uni, they're unfortunately stacked to the rafters.
I have decided not to do the monday RP. No time. Need at least one day to work. Unless I get fired, which is a 50/50 chance at present. Maybe slightly in favour of getting fired. Oh well, if that happens I'll end up applying for Youth Allowance. Again.
Horizon - March 6, 2007 01:12 AM (GMT)
argh. it seems that we can't get a consensus on when to play Serenity. I would like to get some agreement by this week. If possible, I'ld like to start this week. Would you all be available for friday afternoon then?
JT
joseph - March 6, 2007 01:18 AM (GMT)
if friday then count me out ...

Horizon - March 6, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)

Kat - sorry milady, but I can only run on weekday afternoons. Next semester then?

Definatly count me in for sem 2. If my time table is anything like last years sem 2 (which more than likely will be), then I'm not going to be THAT busy and can fit in a couple of RPGs
Charisma - March 12, 2007 09:59 AM (GMT)
So...is this running Sem1 or not? It looks like Mondays if so, but isn't that...uhm...something else?
JEHT - March 13, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
looks like serenity isn't happening this semester....... and I don't want to mess up Chris' monday game timing.
ah well. JT
Charisma - August 5, 2007 01:51 PM (GMT)
So, what about this semester? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?
JEHT - August 6, 2007 03:52 AM (GMT)
lol! alrighty.
Browncoats and Purple Bellies can sign up here to see who's free and at what time for Serenity.

Yay!
I have uh...well, I'm busy on Mondays all day. Or will be later in the semester when I don't skip out on lectures and labs early. Wednesday too - although I'm free after 3:30, I believe. Thursday mornings I'm free until 11:30, but Kimmy's game may or may not run that afternoon - but I must admit, in a choice between Kimmy's game and Serenity, Serenity wins. So I'm possibly free after 12:30 on Thursdays. Tuesdays and Fridays I have no uni, would prefer not to come in, and I still have that youth group on Friday afternoons so I'll be having to leave at around 3:15 anyway.
Comprehensive enough list of my possible times?
EDIT: Incidentally, I'll be bringing back Zhara. Cuz she's fun.
Kimmy - August 6, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
Serenity!
saturday, sunday day time look good for me.
Though almost any evenings are a possibility depending on locale.
Though I am running 1 game, playing another so feel free to ignore me in preference of others.
skoobz - August 9, 2007 07:42 AM (GMT)
All weeknights are good for me except friday nights...hurrah for booze
atomic.bazza - August 9, 2007 08:24 AM (GMT)
i likes games and i can't be in ,y other game so i'm good for mon tues and thursday nights
Charisma - August 9, 2007 11:45 AM (GMT)
Okay! Update. I talked to John today.
At the moment it looks like it'll be running Thursday afternoons. I've talked to a few people and that seems to be generally okay, except for Marion who can't until 3:30. So that's...
Well. I can't remember them all. But I'm pretty sure Kimmy was on that list if he'd skip his lecture for the rest of the semester, and Owen was definitely there, and Chris said he was in but I didn't ask for details of when he was actually free...
Long story short, if you're free on Thursday afternoons and interested in playing Serenity, raise your posts and tell me! Along with specifics of exactly what times are free.
List so far:
- Charisma (12:30 ->)
- Owen (12:30 ->)
- Claire (2:30 ->)
- Kimmy (1:30 ->)
- person (3:30 ->)
- ?Chris

I'm good for Monday after 11:30, all of Tuesday, Wed after 2:30 and Thurs after 3:30. But it looks like the Deadlands game is on Thurs at 3:30 anyway unless we use a diff venue.
Lady D - August 10, 2007 11:21 PM (GMT)
I can't even think about games with my time table. *Major sigh of envy*
Charisma - August 11, 2007 02:47 AM (GMT)
Deadlands I am unhappy with, and will hit fru at the earliest opportunity. Serenity will run this semester, or so help me, I will hunt down every single person who stands in my way yet again. Deadlands can go screw itself, or maybe wait like I had to.
In other news, we'll be having a Serenity viewing session ^_^ Ehh, I forget the actual time...
Kimmy - August 12, 2007 07:31 AM (GMT)
1:30ish or so is when i finish thrusdays.. i can acually remember but i'll be there anyways :P
And yes, deadlands has just been provided time and space elsewhere. All you need is to pouch the players a bit more and its good!
*stalks off*

would you like some cheese with your whine? :->
Charisma - August 13, 2007 02:03 PM (GMT)
Would you like to wait a year to continue with your favourite game because no one is getting their act together to respond to repeated requests for timetables?
Yes I'm peevish. And yes I have reason to be.
EDIT: Flaming is bad. Reading pointless mockery (did this post actually have a point or were you just posting for the hell of it?) when tired and sick is the same kind of bad.
Kimmy - August 13, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
If you want a flame war, we can always add munchkins to deadlands? Barrels of ale are pwetty cheap nowadays I hear..
stawberi - August 13, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
Oh gosh, you guys! Get over yourselves! As an innocent bystander, I just have to say this entire thing is ridiculous. Wasn't Deadlands there first anyway? And who cares? Is it really a matter of "this town ain't big enough for the both of us"?
Charis, what makes you think you're entitled to priority treatment just because nobody wanted to play the game you like for a while?
Fru is right, you're sounding whiney.
If it comes down to it, Serenity could move elsewhere alternatively. The MCU clubroom, as it has been pointed out, is technically for all clubs. What gives you the right to kick Deadlands out?
No no... just ignore me, continue the melodrama. I'll just be back here with the popcorn.

(partial sarcasm) I am terribly sorry that you are either lacking the skills or the ability to organize a fuck in a whorehouse. (/partial sarcasm) The sooner you learn that organizing gamers is like spooning ants the better off you'll be. You have zero sympathy from me for your lack of gaming. Speaking as a gamer & GM of 12+ years, I've heard it all before sister. I've seen games rise and fall. I've been the president of Perth's oldest unaffiliated gaming club (and often the biggest) and even helped form a new convention, so your whining protests are nothing new to me. I've had to mediate between GMs, fight back a roster system, and at one point I was involved in (playing or running) 14 games a fortnight. Come back when you have something original to show me, I am sick and tired of the same old shit. Grow a pair, beat your players about their collective heads with cluebats, and go get a room before someone else takes it from you :-P Yeesh. This is why I should never be a primary school teacher. I would be like "shut up! sit in the corner!" to everyone. And probably need a very oddly shaped room to boot.
While I may seem somewhat jaded and cynical at times, sometimes it is what is required to get the job done.
Me, I'm just glad I've figured out a way to move my campaign along without necessarily throwing all the PCs into a meatgrinder. To any of my players reading this: The presence of a meatgrinder can neither be confirmed, nor denied.

I know, let's ask the PRESIDENT her opinion of the matter (past or present, doesn't matter, I have them BOTH in my game ;-)
*snigger*snort*
Ah, I'm just being silly now.
Kimmy - August 14, 2007 01:11 AM (GMT)
*amused*
To be honest, the only thing I can for either side is - there is two spaces, there is enough people for 2 on the same day, and thats that. Good luck recruiting.
Though it does suck having them on the same day. I do enjoy Frus games and Wild west does sound hella fun, if even only to watch for a bit whilst studying i the arvo. And Serenity is too fun not to miss.
But ow, on to something something completely different!

JEHT - August 14, 2007 02:55 AM (GMT)
woah woah.... everyone just be cold now.
1. Serenity will run this semester. We're meeting at 1.30 this thursday 16 August. I understand that some players won't be able to make it till 2.30 or even 3.30. No worries. Just come along and we'll sort out the timing. Characters will be pre-generated by me. All you got to do is coming along and try to speak poorly-accented chinese (which is hilarious for me to listen to - Joey doesn't get bonus points for speaking it because he's chinese like me!)
2. I just saw Michael's post about Deadlands at 3.30 this thursday as well. You're welcome to the room and the serenity crew might just have to move else where or even move our slot.
Personally, I would only want to run for about 3 hours each session, but I like to maximise the impact of each session. So ideally I would run from 12.30 to 3.30 or 1.30 to 4.30.
Charis isn't flaming you guys and I reckon Michael is just pokin for fun. Lets all be cold about it remember that we're all friends/acquaintences here.
I will publically reiterate my promise - Charis/Kat/Elysha (if you're still watching this forum): Ladies, I will run that Serenity storyline for you gals because it was a blast the last time we played.
JT
MARS Veep
PS: I'll organise for Serenity screening at the end of August. Like 1st sept or something.
WEZ! - August 14, 2007 04:18 AM (GMT)
ohh and as a completely random aside that isn't of any use except over 5 months time.
We HAVE, and I do mean HAVE to get a serenity RPG game going at GenghisCon in January.
Did I mention HAVE :)
The theme of the entire convention is Space Western. Deadlands and Serenity would fit in so well. Sounds like John has got some pre-made characters as well. If I had more spare time I would want to get in on a game of Serenity as well at some point but can't see that happening any time soon. Though soon enough I should be back into Deadlands again :)
JEHT - August 14, 2007 05:23 AM (GMT)
Hey Wez! Put me down to run Serenity for Genghiscon. I tried running SW but that was a no-show last time. I reckon Serenity might just be better.
:P
JT
WEZ! - August 14, 2007 08:18 AM (GMT)
Hell yeah :)
What tiem slot did we have the SW's last year. There will be a general roleplaying thing on Friday as usual. Saturday is usually the good one.
Kimmy - August 14, 2007 09:18 AM (GMT)
Side note - Wez, who do you bug if you want to run a rpg at Gcon? I want to run SLA. It can be westerny but it adds the whole extra side of space and paranoia into the mix.
Or I could do space cowboys paranoia... *grins evilly*
Back on track - John is right - this is amusing, but back to actually getting a game organised. I honestly dunno if i can do bad chinese. I can do bad bad chinese though :P I'll be there none the less.
Lady D - August 14, 2007 11:53 AM (GMT)
This is me adding my two cents into this mess.
Be cold is a good approach.
Learn to share the room kiddies
Learn to keep promises to each other it helps to maintain relationships and friendly relations.
Charisma I am on your side for this one. Although I do like the advice regarding clubbing people..........
That is all from you new Publications Officer!
(Just had to try out my exec name since the Veep did)
