How about a Mars Paintballing day? We all get taken out by bus to the location, given guns, camo, protective gear and lunch. I have that wonderful little cheap paintballing thing. So who is up for it?
Oh and a ball would be lovely!!!!!!!!!

Please remember to include some sort of fundraising aspects to events. :P
atomic.bazza - April 23, 2007 12:59 PM (GMT)
fundrasing is good and paintballing is cool but i mean something very traditional. ok basically i want an excuse to dress up
stawberi - April 23, 2007 02:06 PM (GMT)
We don't have nearly enough people to organise a cruise or a social, and aren't both concepts very "junior high school" anyway?
atomic.bazza - April 23, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
who cares if it's junior high it'd be fun and you can organise for small groups. how many members are there? the other idea is we could have a room in a club or pub
Kimmy - April 23, 2007 05:36 PM (GMT)
Well Paintballing is generally too expensive in WA to be appealing to a large group of our members.
And the cruise is nice but yeah our numbers of regularws are too low.
A hired room is doable for sure, though less dramatic. The Uni pub is perhaps a good idea maybe. Though they are best to hire on tuesdays usually i think.
What theme did you want?
joseph - April 23, 2007 06:44 PM (GMT)
how about a
"Come-Dressed-Up-And-Drink" thing ?
its marsy .. theres alcohol .. ands its sociable ..
there can be a small fee to X place for the fundrasing factor .. and .. yeah stuff .. thats all i got .. its early/late .. so sue me .. actually dont .. i'm poor ..
that is all .. really .. it is ..

Lady D - April 24, 2007 12:17 AM (GMT)
I got a thing that lets me do paintballing cheaply.
$8 for lunch, bus ride out there, camo, gun etc. (per person)
$50 for your paintballs
Its a good deal considering the other shit usually costs like 60 a head.
MinionHashOne - April 24, 2007 01:11 AM (GMT)
I have one also, so does chris, christy and aiden
Lady D - April 25, 2007 01:25 AM (GMT)
Dibs on getting rid of mine first!
MinionHashOne - April 25, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
Lady D - April 25, 2007 02:28 AM (GMT)
Yeah well I think that we all had the same idea at the same time and that is why we ended up with soo many of those bloody paint balling things.
Kimmy - April 25, 2007 12:44 PM (GMT)
You all thought about robbing the voucher piles form the paintball stand all at the same time? Woooww!
aido727 - April 25, 2007 01:53 PM (GMT)
my only problem with dress up things is i have nothing to dress up as and ... yeah just that, i need help if i ever really need a costume for ANY reason, im crap at that sort of thing
Kimmy - April 25, 2007 10:05 PM (GMT)
I need a new costume, so I am buying awesome boots, making or getting made two cloaks and I will need to find some funky pants as well. Or the material and make them..
atomic.bazza - April 26, 2007 03:53 AM (GMT)
thats right your boys... when i said dress up i meant like in a dress and look pretty not dress up as anything
stawberi - April 26, 2007 10:57 AM (GMT)
Oh pssssht... we don't do that. Dresses are for... for... GIRLS! Now, I have either a set of Harry Potter robes, or a yukata (like a kimono). Yay for dress-up!

Hello people,
Making my annual visit to the message board. Elder kin like myself still prefer mailing lists ;-)
Social events are good. Have at least one or two smallish events a month, even it's a bunch of you saying you're off to see a film, as long as you do it under MARS's banner, the club is doing something.
Bigger events are harder to plan, have greater risk but can also bring greater returns. Themed parties can be good in this regard because apart from hiring the Guild tavern on a Friday night (can you still do that?) the costs are pretty low and, as far as I can tell, students still enjoy a drink every so often. Ditto for Quiz Nights and so forth.
But, to reiterate, one or two social events per month - even if there's less than a dozen people in attendance it's still an activity, and it is active clubs that survive and grow.
OK, back to my cave,
Lev

pssh everyone knows nerds and geeks dont interact in RL. though yeah would be awesome i havent been camping in a while ^^
Kimmy - April 28, 2007 08:40 AM (GMT)
Lev! Get your ass back in here out of that cave!
Nerds? eeewwww! Where! I'll kill them off Quick!
Nerds are worse than zombies.. At least they have potential. Geeks like us are just too cool be associated with the N* word..

*Unless of course its Nee
Kimmy - April 28, 2007 08:44 AM (GMT)
Lev, stop bidding on the games on ebay! *waves curses at you*
I dont outbid friends.. usually.. *conflicted*
Why do I have a nice self and a evil self. They both agree on naughtiness at least..
Qbert the II - April 29, 2007 02:41 PM (GMT)
nerds know about computers and computer systems inside out, mostly IT.
geeks are the smarter and sociable ones that get gunned down for being well plain old weird...and knowing science fiction and fanasty inside out :P...mostly
then there are otaku who are obessive, mostly towards manga and anime :D
on a different subject, pub crawl then gaming?
aido727 - April 29, 2007 03:03 PM (GMT)
WTF nerds have NOTHING to do with IT!!!!
OMG someone teach this person the differnce between geek and nerd
Nerds: like to learn for the sake of learning something AND ENJOY IT (but can specialise into a ceraint subject), these people lack all social skills (you got that part right)
Geek: CAN be social and are just generally weird people not affraid to voice their interests
we at MARS are GEEKS :D *proud*
also, drinks and games is always good
Kimmy - April 29, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
Nerds in MARS tend to go catatonic after they realise there are *cool* *geeks* and worse, FEMALES that are also cool and geeky. Though I must admit, the occasional one does break out of that state and tends to just start drooling on the girls shoes. OR freak out and go insane.
Do you have Nerds in your enviroment? Are Nerds infesting your house? Do Nerds drool through all your shoes? Do Nerds try to be romantic by speaking binary to you? Then you need Splat-a-nerd! Splat-a-Nerd is a patented product designed to attach to the Nerds face, causing internal hemmoraging and usually resulting in death!
How does it work? Well I'll tell you folks! We started by working out he most entertaining and useful weapon in removing your Nerd Problems, and then we made sure the Nerd would be attracted to it. So we took a fake ATI Radeon graphics card, wrote all over it in binary (its actually translates to all the worst quotes we could off the internet that nerds comely use) and then we attatched micro explosives inside the fan, so that the unsuspecting Nerd will believe there is a free Nerd covered Graphics card. They come in a range of styles and sizes, all with our new patented invissy glue to make sure those Nerds never ever let go before it goes off.
Of course, no Nerds were harmed in the making of this product. They were all in fact 100% killed in the initial trial. Hence our Splay-a-Nerd 100% money back garantee!
Now available in a 10 packs for only $199.95 plus $9.95 postage and handling.
Freecall 1800-Nerd-Death now to reserve your own Splat-a-Nerd!
