Title: Best Sci fi series
Description: Just wanted to know.
Lady D - July 4, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
Lets vote people! I left out anime sci-fi for a reason and I refuse to put down Buffy as Sci-fi!
stawberi - July 4, 2007 04:03 AM (GMT)
Well... Buffy is not sci fi, it's fantasy. I'm noting that you mean tv series rather than any series, as you left out Star Wars.
1&ownly - July 4, 2007 04:09 AM (GMT)
ooh, u have hijacked best of sci-fi. this is good, the contaigen is spreading *demonic laugh ripped from peter*
but seriously split 60-40 btwn firefly and sga. if u want to really stir the rabble, ask about best scifi movie of all time
Lady D - July 4, 2007 01:04 PM (GMT)
I was planning to do a nasty sequence. Start trouble with this one then move onto Anime, then Sci-fi movie then movies in general.
Qbert the II - July 5, 2007 12:35 AM (GMT)
the Outer Limits and or the X-files. They were awesome and do you mean the old BSG or the new one? X-files for the win :D
Lady D - July 5, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)
OMG the x-files how could I forget that! so bad. *headdesk* I am feeling my geek licence being put on probation. NOoooooooooooooo
JEHT - July 5, 2007 02:46 AM (GMT)
I vote others because you don't have Firefly listed.
JT
edit: oops I'm blind! Firefly is listed!
Lady D - July 5, 2007 04:12 AM (GMT)
*pounce and pound*
Shame on you for not seeing it! Like i would forget that one!
TLorie - July 6, 2007 05:28 AM (GMT)
This is an evil Poll, My heart split as I cast my eyes on it.
Dr Who, followed by Star Trek, and Atlantis. But I like the new BSG.
You can't trump Dr Who of Star Trek. Two longers running Scif Fi shows!
Lady D - July 6, 2007 11:43 PM (GMT)
I can not believe Dr who is winning at this stage. I so should have made it single choice only and torn you all apart some more.
Darkmatter - July 8, 2007 03:45 AM (GMT)
It's Dr Who?!
What did you expect?
1&ownly - July 8, 2007 04:09 AM (GMT)
Where is Dark Angel anyway?
Lady D - July 8, 2007 06:48 AM (GMT)
My bad. Thats two series i have forgotten.
stawberi - July 8, 2007 10:49 AM (GMT)
There's always Quantum Leap :P
Qbert the II - July 8, 2007 02:26 PM (GMT)
how could i have forgotten that. i been wanting to buy it at jb hi fi for months but hasnt gone down in price :(
just finished new bsg season 2 and half way through season 3. what other wicked sci fi shows that re run...
sea quest? Earth: Final Conflict? dont think 3rd rock from the sun counts... the twilight zone? bablyon 5? clone wars ( shh it was awesome ) ?
Lady D - July 8, 2007 07:04 PM (GMT)
I am sure that all those are b-grade or worse
stawberi - July 9, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
Earth 2? Now and Again? Seven Days?
They're hardly B-grade... I certainly don't see how you could consider Bab 5 to be B-grade.
Lady D - July 9, 2007 08:46 AM (GMT)
*head desk* I should have known the one sci-fi I didn't want to win would do so. I mean its unbearable.
Darkmatter - July 9, 2007 09:39 AM (GMT)
stawberi - July 9, 2007 11:51 AM (GMT)
Sweetie, it is your fault for using checkboxes. No poll with checkboxes is truly accurate. Dr Who may not be the best, but it's certainly the one everyone has in common.
TLorie - July 10, 2007 04:11 AM (GMT)
Blasphemer. It is the best!
lol.
Anyone caught Torchwood, what do you reckon?
Lady D - July 10, 2007 04:29 AM (GMT)
What are you going to do? burn me at the stake for it? Do a Cessin?
Qbert the II - July 10, 2007 08:17 AM (GMT)
burning a steak is wrong. speaking of which what ever happened to being hung drawn and quartered?
torchwood didnt look to bad, Bill says its awesome, i'm just watching life on mars and waiting for season 4 of bsg

It seems to have started pretty well. Its level of effects realism is similar to Dr Who, so it is initally a shock to the system for people used to the level of sci-fi effects presented by SGA, SG1, Firefly, etc. But stick with it, its well written and Captain Jack is awesome.
I'm about to get flamed for that Doctor Who thing, aren't I?
1&ownly - July 11, 2007 08:29 AM (GMT)
Oh and lady, i would suggest that u post a new poll, this time between Doctor Who, SG1 and Firefly
Lady D - July 11, 2007 09:11 AM (GMT)
I got home for my surgeory. I have see puffer fish less swollen.
TLorie - July 12, 2007 07:07 AM (GMT)
low level realism? was that directed at Torchwood or Dr Who?
How realistic can you make travlelling around the universe in a Telephone box?
Torchwood reminds me of Dark Angel, season two. Ames White's little NSA/Breeding cult trying to keep the secrect of the Transgenics underground.
Though how you hide after the events in Doomsday, I have no idea.
Darkmatter - July 12, 2007 10:00 AM (GMT)
Ok, flying through space and time is perfectlet normal...If youre me that is <_<
Darkmatter - July 12, 2007 10:10 AM (GMT)
There should be a poll on the best DR Who sidekick, lol that should be interiesting since there are so many!
TLorie - July 12, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
36 companions from the original series ranging from Susan to Ace, then you have the New Dr Who adventures of the 8th Dr, there are several (Fitz, Trix r just two.) then you have the audio adventures and then the new seires with the blonde git (rose), ((Lol)) and all the one trip peeps he picks up.
though Sarah Jane Smith has always been seen as the Dr's fav companion. There is a new series of her adventures comign out nex year, to compliment the ones made in 1993.
Ace was also a favourite in the comic books. But Romana and Leela have an entire Audio series about them on Gallifrey.
might need to set boundaries for that pole.
Lady D - July 13, 2007 01:53 AM (GMT)
TLorie - July 13, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)
hey, don't complain, i could have sat down, listed every single one, which extra cannon they're in and their rating on 'the best companion scale'.
no one knows more than me unfortunately :P
Darkmatter - July 13, 2007 02:58 AM (GMT)
Hmmm yes. One trip peeps deffinatley dont count. Tom Baker started collecting companions after a while with Adro and the rest... This poll will need some discussing first. Oh and we can not leave out K9!!!!!!!!
TLorie - July 13, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
the problem is, there were three K9's Mark I,II,III. lol
Then what his companions while he was exile to earth? All of Unit? You have to include the Brigadier. (hes the longest running companion) and Liz Shaw, Jo Grant etc. Patrick Troughten had four people at once, in Attack of the Cybermen I think it was. the moon base one (black and white for non motivated peeps out there) Tom Baker had Adric, Nyssa and Tegan, then when Adric died he got Torlough.
It would be easier to list them in chronological order, but then you still have to break them up into tv series, movie, audio adventures, book adventures new series, spin offs.
no. I think this needs its own discussion thread.
Lady D - July 13, 2007 10:27 AM (GMT)
*passes out listening to this dribbling shit that is completely incomprehensible to me*
TLorie - July 13, 2007 01:48 PM (GMT)
You're showing your ignorance Jess :P.
This is a geeky conversation thread, what did you expect?
Lady D - July 14, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
Leave me and my drugs be. Ignorance is oblivion.
Darkmatter - July 14, 2007 02:35 AM (GMT)
I still think K9 wat the best. Yes lets open up a new discution thread... Pain killers are good Jess :P
