Title: MARS is 20
Description: This year is MARS 20th year as a club

Lady D - July 8, 2008 02:37 AM (GMT)
This year is the year in which MARS has existed for 20 years.

I as your resident publications officer wish to put together a year book. To celebrate the past and present and future of the MARS club.

It would have pages of profiles of the current members and tribute to the older members who helped keep the club going. As well as the normal things you'd expect from a MARS year book. Stories, poetry, art etc.

Its time that MARS made it clear that we are not going anywhere. That we are still a club at Murdoch and that after 20years we are still here.

Also who is up for a on campus 20th celebration for MARS? Good chance for us to hook some members, catch up, RP and game etc.

Lady D

Publications officer

If its not written its not remembered yet.

I'd love to contribute to this. Either with a story or two and I have plenty of artwork which you're free to use (some of it dating back to early MARS days):

Perhaps I can even draw you up something new!

Don't worry I will be after your stories, art, memories, photos and brains soon enough.

I just need clearance to act.

Bahahah

my evil plan is taking shape

I mean it will be a nice thing. Yes a nice polite civil thing.

I believe that there are one or two pictures in my sparse DeviantArt Gallery that wouldn't go amiss:

Particularly these I think:

I should also have a couple of short stories... which I did submit before for the 2005 Phantas I believe. But that one never made it around to getting published.

Also if you want to get in touch with couple of classic MARS artists then I'd recommend Amy Pronovost ( http://www.flyingarmadillo.com ) and Brian Choo ( http://www.geocities.com/ozraptor4/ ). I don't know whether they'd be available to contribute or at all interested, but it might be worth a try.

Terry Cat and Karl Brown have both been regular enough contributors if you can get something out of them (if you could get Karl to write a bit about his time at Mars that would be great).

Also there are a few of the staff at Murdoch - if they're still there - who are large enough on the local SF scene: Ken McCaw (Murdoch's Desktop Administrator who also ran the 2006 Swancon), Chris Creagh (Works in the Physical Sciences I believe) and the great Grant Stone (Has lifetime membership and works in the library - the greatest SF guru of them all - definitetly try to get something out of him).

And of course there's always Lev... :)

It'd be a very cool Phantasmagoria if they could :D

You know.... I was just looking through someone's photos on Flickr and it appears that UNISFA just held some kind of shindig for their 30th aniversary.

Wouldn't a PARTY of some kind be appropriate to celebrate 20 years of MARSness? :)

There will be one.

It's still being planned and such.

We're frantically getting ready for uni.

And me?

I just got virusbombed. All files gone in reformat. Isn't life just fucking dandy when it does that when I have oh god so much to do? And so much to lose too...dammit. WHY COULDN'T IT WAIT UNTIL I HAD MY BACKUP DRIVE.

Fucking timing.

Sugar high rush fast talking swearing hyperactive me!

Charisma - August 3, 2008 09:33 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah, initial plan is for first semester break, that's the first week in September I think. Any suggestions for activity? Because a pissup isn't my style and I refuse to organise one.

Seems a bit funny having a 20th party now when the almighty 21st is just six months away, but party now vs party later is always a strong argument especially given the need for one.

Yeah, one of the things that puts me off the idea of a MARS party is the whole idea of the pissup style of party. I'd rather have a nice warm and sociable evening... I think that beyond the pissup thing that most sorts of party are good.

Charisma - August 3, 2008 10:08 PM (GMT)
Party now *and* party later :P

Next year, we foresee this awesome slogan: MARS Goes Epic.

Snigger.

aido727 - August 4, 2008 05:46 AM (GMT)
Nevermind that we've been playing the epic rules the whole time *shifty looks* =D

Burton - August 4, 2008 02:02 PM (GMT)

The Unisfa party appeared to be quite a formal get together.

atomic.bazza - August 5, 2008 03:20 AM (GMT)
but formal get togethers generally cost money

1&ownly - August 10, 2008 10:56 AM (GMT)
Chris is in for whatever happens.

So am I...

aurickandrien - August 11, 2008 01:54 AM (GMT)
Basically everything falls into place after we decide venue and whether people are willing to pay anything to attend, ja?

Hey there

Just dusting off everything after 3 weeks of prospecting for dead fish in the Gogo (Kimberleys). Will see if I can dig up any of my old phantasmagoria artwork - or I could just submit my new stuff...

Cheers
Brian Choo

Charisma - August 28, 2008 10:38 AM (GMT)

TerryCat - August 28, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)
