I went and saw "Pan's Labyrinth" over the weekend, it is one of the best movies i have ever seen.
I don't want to say too much as it would give you ideas as to what it was, but its not the same as harry potter.

5 star for me :D

oh, and its spanish in subtitles the whole way through. ^_^

stawberi - January 15, 2007 11:39 AM (GMT)
I went to see "Night at the Museum". It has some serious Ben Stiller-type laughs.

Charisma - January 24, 2007 04:58 AM (GMT)
Happy Feet and flushed away were a-cute-ly funny ^_^

also, my shift key sometimes doesn't work >_> shaddup.

cas - January 29, 2007 11:50 PM (GMT)
Has anyone seen epic movie?
I saw an advert for it and it looked surprisingly good. I dont normally like these types of movies so looking for an opinion before I go waste another $15 like I did on Borat.

stawberi - January 30, 2007 12:04 AM (GMT)
Oh, Miss Potter was fantastic. Absolutely marvelous, although very sad at points.

I second that bit about Happy Feet and Flushed Away, although Happy Feet is definitely the better movie. Incredibly feel-good.

Haven't seen Epic Movie, but I tend not to go in for those genre-parodies. They're always terrible.

Charisma - February 8, 2007 03:11 PM (GMT)
Someone told me Epic Movie was horrid - stupid in a way that isn't funny. Honestly can't remember who, though...

cas - February 9, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
Epic movie
-All comments on bittorrent sites rated it at less than 3
-none of my friends that has seen it has liked it so far (up to a count of ten or so)

All in all im passing :)

stawberi - February 9, 2007 10:57 AM (GMT)
Saw Epic Movie, don't recommend it.

?dc - February 13, 2007 04:46 AM (GMT)
Pan's Labyrinth was awesome :D

edit:: OHNO back into positive post numbers!

stawberi - February 13, 2007 08:51 AM (GMT)
You are teh crazy :P

Negative post numbers indeed...

Ooh, saw Employee of the Month. Surprisingly decent.

Wanting wanting wanting to see Hannibal Rising, anyone seen? Any good?

joseph - February 13, 2007 03:58 PM (GMT)

- joseph

Culling - February 16, 2007 08:35 AM (GMT)
I also saw Stranger than Fiction, very much not the movie I thought it was going to be, it was interesting though.

Again, if anyone has not seen Pans Labyrinth, do so. :) and take small children along as well. it really is like one of the old fairy tales... sort of...

:D

joseph - February 16, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)

- joseph

Charisma - February 23, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but only after I told you that :P Makes so much more sense, yes?

Don't watch The Covenant unless it's for their asses. Really, it's terrible plot...character...acting...it's just terrible :P

Hmm, what else...

No, I think that's about it actually...

Wait! Take small children to see Pan's Labyrinth. Absolutely. It's fun to scar kids for life ^_^

That reminds me, I saw most of The Ant Bully. Hee. I love kids movies.

stawberi - February 24, 2007 01:11 AM (GMT)
The Good Shepherd was so boring... there just aren't words.

Charisma - February 24, 2007 09:59 AM (GMT)
Is Ghost Rider out yet? Has anyone seen it?

Seruja - February 24, 2007 10:09 AM (GMT)
Yeah I saw Ghostrider, it was entertaining, nothing else. It only makes you wish you could burst into flames.

etimodnar - February 24, 2007 03:30 PM (GMT)
I saw Stranger Than Fiction and loved it. One of the best movies of this year.... for the two months that this year has been in progress for.... yeah

Go see it!

Saw Employee of the Month on an aeroplane. Found it dull and boring. I suppose entertaining. I was on my way to see Blind Guardian, so the movie wasn't metal enough to suit my mood. lol

The Covenant: I thought it was exactly like The Craft, except with men instead of women. Heh, lol. It was alright. Agreed with the eye candy bit Charisma. mmmm, arses... ROFL!

Lady D - February 27, 2007 10:43 AM (GMT)
Any Firefly fans about? I finished watching the fourth disc and loved it! Firefly though not strictly a movie is still awesome!

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is a brilliant DVD
Equalibrium is really really good
Ultra Violet is okay, better second time around

And for most other action flicks I can venture an opinion.

Action is my style of film.

etimodnar - February 27, 2007 03:12 PM (GMT)
HAHAHAHA

are there any firefly fans here?!?!?!

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

....yes. There are. I think the better question is; does anyone here NOT like Firefly?

...I didn't think so. It's pretty safe to say that Firefly is generally loved all round and you've come to the right place for firefly fansqueeing. At least from me. I dunno if anyone else squees.

I loved Equilibrium too. Christian Bale... so awesome (and hot) and awesome!
And it's just a brilliant movie. I adore it. No, not just for Christian Bale. The movie itself is great. He just happens to be the icing on a very good cake.

...mmmm... Christian Bale and cake.... ;):D lol!

stawberi - February 28, 2007 05:58 AM (GMT)
Everyone loves Firefly. But re: Serenity... nooooo! *cries for lost characters*

cas - February 28, 2007 07:53 AM (GMT)
Equilibrium? Awesome?

Two words Id never use together :)

Action sequences were poorly shot, plot had more holes than a beehive. Christian Bale have been hot but it didnt make a poor movie good if you were a guy :).

Vhdb was pretty good. I do need to see ultraviolet, Ive only seen a few episodes and ithey were very promising.

Culling - February 28, 2007 10:07 AM (GMT)
Man of the Year - looks like it will be a proper movie with Robbin Williams in.

comes out on the 1st of march :)

Charisma - February 28, 2007 10:35 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I wanna see it too :D Uhm...so what's everyone doing next tuesday? We could go see it at GC after uni and stuff ^_^ Like, order pizza to the MARS room or something then go. Because my lecture technically finishes at 6.30 so I'll be there anyway.

WHO'S WITH ME?????

Lady D - February 28, 2007 11:33 AM (GMT)
Maybe, I dont know depends on transport seeing as how I am always catching buses and have no other options really.

Culling - February 28, 2007 02:06 PM (GMT)
sounds like fun :D.
I wanna do that too. :)
who else?

by the way, i love the forums for this and not needing to meet up or be online at the same time. :)

TLorie - February 28, 2007 02:53 PM (GMT)
ultraviolet lacks in the spot where a plot should be put.

I disagree with the equilibrium flame, I think the camera framing was alright, not to mention the use of color.

yay firefly! noooo Wash!

pizza is good, all food is good, especially when i am not forced to cook for myself.-no idea what i ate for tea, it was pretending to be pasta.

I throw in the defult Matrix squee here.

Culling - February 28, 2007 02:56 PM (GMT)
First matrix V.cool

second and third matrix, loved the special effects and fight scenes, i think... its been a long time....

etimodnar - February 28, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
while I thoroughly enjoyed the last movie, the fight scene between him and that dude... whatever his name is... was just... too long? It was all *big punch* *dramatic knockdown* *dramatic standing up again* *big punch* etc etc

Charisma - March 1, 2007 09:58 AM (GMT)
Well I don't drive either  but i'm sure there'll be people with cars ^_^ like Gene, he's up for it ^_^ So we'll just cadge a lift with him...right, Gene? :ph43r:

first matrix obligatory squee ^_^

haven't seen therefore have no opinion on equilibrium and ultraviolet >_>

firefly enthusiastic squee ^_^ awww wash :( poor mr universe too. he was so childish and funny ^_^

Culling - March 1, 2007 10:23 AM (GMT)
uhh yes car for me... , 3 bodies can fit in my boot as well as the 3 people that can sit in the seats of the car.

if you want to keep the bodies whole and not use the wheel lock, then its a little bit different, but thats ok. generally breaking the bones works, and i have a bunch of stuff to be able to do that with.

So, Which lucky hitch hiker wants to ride with me? B)

Charisma - March 1, 2007 10:26 AM (GMT)
Oooh, pick me, pick me!

Culling - March 1, 2007 10:32 AM (GMT)
Consider yourself picked, but if joey is going doesn't he have a car?

And, if the cinema isnt too far away we could possibly catch public transport there instead. And have cosplay/fancy dress to wierd everyone out.

I just want everyone to remember that I'm a country boy in the city, ie, my driving will be bad.

Charisma - March 1, 2007 10:34 AM (GMT)
meh, who cares about driving.

and the public transport comes only infrequently (about once an hour by that time, i think?) and takes 20 to 30 mins to get to GC in the first place. Hence the cars idea, which only takes what...10 mins, tops?

Culling - March 1, 2007 10:41 AM (GMT)
No idea, GC = Grand Cinema?

Charisma - March 1, 2007 10:42 AM (GMT)
Sorry, Garden City. I just cbb typing it all out. I'm lazy like that.

Culling - March 1, 2007 10:45 AM (GMT)
Ahh right, sounds good, although i have no idea where to go for that.

Or where i can park. any suggestions for no fines parking at uni?

Charisma - March 1, 2007 10:52 AM (GMT)
not really, but there's paying visitor parking between the guild and ecl buildings. you could try there if you really wanted to.

stawberi - March 1, 2007 10:53 AM (GMT)
My suggestion: Get a motorbike. Parking is free for motorbikes.

Charisma - March 1, 2007 10:54 AM (GMT)
but motorbikes can't carry many peoples. which is the point.
