Biography: "They tell me that I'm gonna die. They tell me to live out the rest of my years as peacefully as possible. To come to terms with what I have been given. To hell with that. I'm gonna burn sky until I've screwed a female of every race that won't crush me if they get on top. I'm gonna kill one of every being I see, and if they don't think, I just might eat 'em!"
Nicolai Crawford was born on Mars, to rich parents who had established one of the first successful private spaceflight companies back on Earth. A quiet backwater, he was much the rowdy resident. When he was young, he traveled the entire Earth from the slums to mega-cities like New York and Tokyo. In these forming years, he became streetsmart, booksmart and a capable fighter. When the Solar System bored him, he requested transfer to somewhere else.
He did go somewhere else, and when he came back, discharged due to a terminal illness, he became a changed man. He slowed down, and began working on the docks of the Citadel as a C-Sec officer. Contemplating how life gave him the short end, that he could keel over at any moment, he became bitter, angry and a rough enforcer of the law. He never mentioned the name of the disease, and the only hint to its existence is slowly whitening hair and body spasms.
Somewhere among the docks, he encountered a Quarian, on her pilgrimage. Even though it was considered somewhat taboo, he fell in love with her. She reciprocated these feelings. Nicolai begged her to allow him to join her quest, but she thought, that for the better of her people, she would embark on her Pilgrimage alone.
Nicolai never trusted another being in the universe. He quit his job at C-Sec and with his family's fortune backing him, he decided to abandon civilized life for a wild one. His ship, the Galactic Crawford Experience XII, has seen more than a beating, and has been modified to be able to fight well above her original pleasure ship intentions. Exploring one system to another, all with his clock ticking down. Dozens of civilized worlds, hundreds of wild ones, Nicolai traveled fast and hard in the few short years he had left. Now, with only a year or two expected to live, he has returned to Citadel Space for unknown reasons.
Abilities: Due to his deteriorating condition, his aim is often riddled by his body's uncontrollable shakes and spasms. An expert in hand to hand improv combat and sniping, his time as a Vanguard also allowed him to invest well in shield breaking tactics. As a marksman, he is not often seen without a pistol, even if he leaves other weapons behind. His personal pistol is believed to have been in the Karpov class, a IX or a X, but is exponentially more efficient. The human controlling the weapon, in a bit of irony, is becoming less capable as his pistol his becoming moreso. On a good day, however, he can easily outshoot the best snipers and marksmen in the Alliance. Many drunken stupors have left him deadly with practically any object, from a shard of glass to a bottle of pills.
His journeys have left him a medical expertise for many races, including humans, the Council races, Elcor, Volus, and Krogans. In addition, he understands their cultures rather well, and has claimed that he has initiated intercourse with at least a handful of species' females.
There is a rumor that he can sing very well and has knowledge of at least the piano, but very few things can attest to this.
Personality: While his grudge against his disease and his broken heart over his lover never healed properly, Nicolai maintains a strangely upbeat attitude over his misadventures, and eventual end. He has a black sense of humor, one that permeates a sense of dread among others. He laughs about people dying while others mourn. He jokes about his crippling disease while others feel sorrow. He laughs in the face of the threat of the Geth and any synthetic. For him, life is short, unimportant, and a sometimes self-destructive race to experience as many things as possible.
For 32, he gets around a lot. ^_^
Seems to be bordering on a bit of a perfectionist. "He can easily outshoot the best snipers and marksmen in the Alliance"?
Bar-fighting and species knowledge works, I'll grant him that.
I'll approve him. Have fun and try not to to get into too many brawls with Nicolai. :D
APPROVED.

A perfectionist, merely because he needs to be. Most of his abilities are increasingly offset by *that disease* which will remain nameless. :P
And thank you for the approval, I look forward to playing around here. Maybe after a couple hours of z's.
Take your time. Imagination is freshest when you wake up.
At the moment, there's the Council's Gambit thread located in the Citadel docks which you can join. It's a rambling affair with some unusual characters and a murder mystery. If you want to join, roleplay catching a shuttle to the ship (it's just left the docks).
Otherwise, there's Chora's Den where someone of Nicolai's personality would fit right in. Just don't upset the owner, Leonne Rousseau. She's not very subtle when someone ruins her bar. ^_^
If both don't cater to your whims, then feel free to start up your own plot or random wanderings.
Or join my plot, the sign up sheet is in the plot development section, under facility search.
Nice char... but I'm guessing that, if you still want him and we have another timeskip, he'll miraculously attain more years to his lifespan? lol

Well, there are these pills that he refuses to take. Should he take them, another few years could be attained. Something I forgot to mention(blame writer, but sorta did when I said he was dangerous with practically anything, including a bottle of pills. But these pills are hard to find, and Nicolai is kinda the personality that would forget such things for a bar or something.
