Biography: One of the earliest cruisers the System Alliance built, the SSV Davenport has been in service for 25 years. She's gone through numerous refits to bring it to the current standard. With a vast array of mass accelerator cannons and disruptor torps, it can hold it’s own against most ships.
One unique feature is a variation on the ablative armor. In cooperation with turian technology and vague blueprints discovered on a Prothean data disk, this ablative hull armor can be reduced into energy and restored through several generators along the hull. This effectively lightens the cruiser’s mass and allows easier maneuvering during non-combat missions. When it is deployed, it envelops the cruiser within mere seconds but leaves the weapons exposed for fighting. Rather than the “boil affect” of standard armor, this variation allows energy weapons to “splash” across and diffuse into a gaseous (and harmless) state.
The Davenport is also home to the legendary Sharp Squadron: one of the best human fighter squadron in the System Alliance. She's also the lead ship in the Fifth Flotilla Detachment of the System Alliance's Third Fleet.
