Biography: Born on Earth, Marcus grew up in an environment unusually filled with the latest in Citadel technology due to the fact that both his parents worked in a research and development company contracted by the Systems Alliance. His childhood was mainly spent tinkering with the gadgets his parents brought home, to the point where building and modifying were his hobbies and passion.
At age 18, Marcus enlisted in the System Alliance military as a combat engineer, much to the reluctance of his parents. During training, Marcus displayed a just acceptable small arms shooting proficiency with the standard firearms, which he had to extensively modify to compensate for his lack of skill. This was balanced by the fact that he unnervingly excelled in explosives training. In addition, he completed the armoured vehicle driving course making him qualified to drive any IFV up to and including the M35 Mako.
Three years later, Marcus started his tour of duty aboard the frigate SSV Kokoda as part of her marines complement. The “greenhorn” engineer of the crew and the Mako driver, Marcus proved his worth when on patrol on the edge of the Terminus Systems. The marines ran into a Geth scouting force in which the ensuing firefight left the Mako with its turret knocked out and an Armature and two rocket Geth still active. The Lt ordered them to fallback and set an ambush, to which Marcus constructed IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) to take out the Armature. The plan went smoothly and Marcus scored his first “kill” and also his first armour “kill”. When he finished his first posting, Marcus was promoted to Private 1st class.
During the events after the retaking Sol, Marcus was assigned duty in the newly colonised Arcgos Verge. Promoted to Corporal, Marcus was assigned to Lionel for patrol duties.
