Biography:
John was born in 2199 on Earth in Southern Africa. His father was former British SAS and now worked as personal security for Alliance Politicians. His mother died 4 years after he was born from Heart Failure.
John was raised in a military background by his father who left John primarily in the care of a nanny. At the age of 12 John began shooting pistols with his father. When he turned 16 he began competing in target shoots. To his father's dismay he never won, but was always a true competitor.
John enlisted on his 18th Birthday. The next day he shipped out and that was the last day he saw his father. Once a year on his birthday he receives a letter from his father. The letter only ever says "Happy Birthday". John was to be a Alliance Marine. John finished boot camp as a Private 1st class and was immediately sent to the front lines of the Alliance's colonies on the edge of the traverse.
His company was aboard a frigate on the boarder of the traverse when it was hit by the Geth. They quickly singled out the frigate and boarded. To refer to the attack see Alliance Report TT-2199xt

We were in the mess of the frigate. I believe it was about 0500. First the knifes and forks and plates began to rattle. That shit happens hall the time so we didn't think much of it. That is when the alerts began to blare over the ships coms. I turned to my bunkmate who was already up and running for the door. I quickly joined after him and looked back into the mess. I could hear the screams and see the lightning spark through the room. They were right behind us, but we kept running. We made it to the dorms just in time to meet up with our NCO. He tossed us each a rifle and my roommate ran back out into the hallway with the rest of them. I jumped over my bunk into the locker to grab my pistol and a few other things. When I finished I turned and a bright blast filled the hallway and the Sergeant and three others, including my bunkmate, were vaporized. Besides me two others had been lucky enough to be in the room. I took command and entered the hallway firing blinding. When I had enough courage to look the hallway was clear. The two followed close behind me. The Captain had given his last words and we knew our only hope was to get to the escape pods. I led them through a passage in the bulk cargo area. We kept low and silent. Two Geth troopers were standing near the entrance. We had slipped in through a air vent. I slung my rifle on my back and took out my pistol, aimed and squeezed two shots. The two Geth shook and dropped then combusted. Just outside the entrance was the pods. I opened the door and entered rifle first. I dropped a Geth trooper and when it combusted it must have blew the circuits on the one next to it because it fried too. The two I had with me sprinted passed me into the first pod. The ship shook and I fell to the floor. I looked up crawling towards the pod. They were yelling my name reaching for me when...when the pod blew and emergency shutters closed. Another jolt rattled the ship and...I blacked out. I don't know how I got here.

After he was deemed recovered he was shipped back to Earth to await reassignment.
