Biography:
Derevai was born to a military family, with her father a Marine, and her mother in the Navy. With no time for her due to their work, and feeling she should follow in their footsteps, Derevai's parent's enlisted her in a military school as soon as she reached the acceptable age, five. Years of military discipline hardened the young woman, suppressing emotions she never had a chance to develop, and making her entire outward attitude completely military.
It was only natural that Derevai enlisted for the Systems Alliance military when she graduated from her academy at eighteen years old. Having been on Earth for her training, she chose to be a Marine, feeling odd in the artificial gravity of ships, and feeling powerless when without a gun in hand and her own reflexes to rely on. Due to her intense, life-long military conditioning, masterful marksmanship, and brilliant tactical mind, Derevai rose in rank very rapidly and found herself an officer before she knew it. Her cold, calculating, even sometimes heartless demeanor got her a reputation among the lower ranks of course, despite the fact that the higher-ups admired it, and many came to fear her.
Despite being as good as she is, however, Derevai recognizes that she needs to work with a team more than anything, especially since it was something drilled in her mind in military school, and instead of being a lone-wolf, she trusts her squad completely and chooses it's members carefully. She and the other nine members of her special forces squad are assigned aboard the frigate the SSV Thermopylae.
