History

After the destruction of the original Strategic Tactics Organization, the Systems Alliance saw it fit to… revamp their system due to how powerful the STO was. So, rather recently, they have developed TEARS, using the STO as the key, finding it’s flaws, and basically performing a complete overhaul of the system. Ergo, we have the Tactical Espionage, Assassination, and Reconnaissance Squad.

Setup

Like the STO, TEARS functions in terms of single operatives, but may sometimes assign teams. The operatives, who actually hold the rank of Ghost now, do not exist in any military database but TEARS’, making them appear no more than civilians. The Ghosts receive specialized body modifications upon their initiation, and specialized training to make them ever the more deadly, stealth being their strongest asset.

TEARS has no real leader per se; they are more or less ‘called upon’ to do a job by whatever higher up needs to get done, and whoever’s closest to the goal is the one who gets the job. Only the Systems Alliance higher-ups know about TEARS black ops, and all missions that they undertake are considered the utmost importance. Further, all Ghosts are of equal rank, that is to say that they have none in public eyes and appear no more than mercenaries or civilians.

TEARS’ database’s location is unknown all… or rather, no one will admit to knowledge of it’s location.

As for tactics: they vary from team to team, mission to mission, but the orders from the higher ups will ask for specific means of death, in terms of assassinations.

The number or Ghosts is unknown.

RP Recap:
1) All NSTO members are operatives, holding the Rank of Ghost
2) You appear as mere civilians or mercenaries; you have no military rank
3) All Ghosts are physically altered to have faster reaction times, greater strength and speed, and superior intelligence, but are advised to not flaunt it too readily
4) There is no base of operations; you wander as you please and await assignments, so feel free to have a ‘second job’, whatever it may be so long as it’s something a civilian can do

Gear

Ghost Stealth Suit (GSS)

This is the reason why each Ghost is modified to be a bit more like a supersoldier. The Ghosts do NOT wear any armor, so they have to rely on stealth and their physical abilities to get by. The stealth suit is designed with an active camo system that refracts the light around the user to make them nearly transparent, with as little distortion as possible. It also comes in two variants: Urban and Rural, and both suits support bioamps and omnitools.

Urban: designed to look like any style of civilian clothing, the suit has an attachable mask that covers all but the eyes with the specialized cloth, and the eyes have specialized lenses that will also ‘cloak’ too. The suit can not support weapon ‘sticking’, so holsters or other means of carrying weapons must be used. It also doesn’t have any environmental protection, so it can only be used in hospitable areas. However, it is much less conspicuous for a city or spacecraft setting, or for appearing in public.

Rural: designed to look like a lightweight environment suit, it comes with the standard attachable helmet with a mirrorshade lens. It supports weapon sticking, and environmental protection, and is ideal for hostile environments such as methane planets etc.

Defensive Measures

The suit is, of course, a Ghost trademark. However, if people discovered how they worked, then there would be severe consequences. As such, the suits all come with a special defense mechanism so that the suit will never fall into the wrong hands. The suit is rigged to measure biometric settings such as blood pressure, oxygen levels, biochemical levels, and heart rate. In the event of a flatlined heart rate lasting more than a minute, the suit is rigged to detonate in an incendiary fashion, reducing the suit and the Ghost to mere ashes.

Ghost Weapon Concealment Modifications

Nearly all weapons used by TEARS are your everyday knives, pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, and sniper rifles, but with two changes.
1) All TEARS weapons are silenced rather heavily, leaving the absolute minimal amount of noticeable sound as possible.
2) All TEARS weapons are black and have the same active camo system for stealth during missions. However, only the sniper rifle’s system will actually stay on after it fires; the other weapons all become visible directly prior to the first attack.
