Title: Watching the snow

Warlock sat outside, optics watching the skies... He had been processing new data at great speeds. His speech hadn't improved much over the past few days, but he at least comprehended a bit more about human and mutant civilizations. His scanners zoomed in on several snowflakes as they softly fell. While all possessed similar properties, each one was a unique pattern of ice crystals. Humans used expressions such as 'unique' to describe themselves, and things like snowflakes, and indeed all life. each lifeform on this planet, while composed of the same 4 chemicals that composed their genetic data, DNA, the combinations and arrangements of those chemicals had a great deal of impact on what creature developed. And no 2 creatures had identical DNA.
Warlock pondered his own placement on this world. Warlock was from a race that had developed... He didn't know how. But The Technarch was a fully functional society that stressed conformity over individuality. In fact, individuality was a concept that Warlock had heretofore never seen in a positive light. As a Technarch, he was an Aberrant, a deviation. His core programming algorithms had given him responses that had marked him as such. Instead of using his lifeglow to enter battle with his Siredam, Magus, He had used it to flee. He had put the preservation of Self over the advancement and testing of new Data to possibly enhance the Technarch further.
Some would perhaps find it odd that a Machine would be sitting out among the snow, deep in philosophical thought on the snow, and how it related. The snowflakes he was watching drifted down to land in various places. One landed on the sidewalk, where a sodium substance had been strewn, causing the crystal to melt into its liquid form. Another snowflake landed in a small pile of snow, where it instantly became indistinguishable form the others that had fallen there. A third Snowflake landed atop a blade of grass... and there it stayed. Warlock wondered if that held any parallels to his own existence.

She did a great deal of wandering. Maybe it was because she had come from a strict regimental routine, or the fact that she was free to do whatever she wanted while she was there. It was kind of pleasant; being able to go outside when she wanted to. She could walk around the mansion whenever she wanted to, and she could raid the kitchen, again when she wanted to. Not that she went on midnight binges, she was just pleased with the option. Something she had not been able to do. Which was why she was outside at this moment,m walking around, and enjoying the snow.
She walked slowly, humming to herself. She had this tendency to sing to herself whens he was alone. It was a comfort. Maybe it was because of her mutation, but sound was a very big part of her life. Sound was what she could manipulate, using her voice. Her Mutation... genetically inherited from her father. A man she barely knew. And well.. she had this sort of animosity towards him. Did she hate him? did she love him?
Neither, since she barely knew the man. Having been raised by her Uncle Tom... he was the only father figure she knew. And the unfortunate thing... it was because of him that she knew how to do a great deal of the more...questionable things. It was why she had this... insight into the darker side of being a mutant. Maybe that was why she went to work for Interpol... because maybe there.. she would feel like she was doing something worthwhile.
As she walked she came upon a rather... peculiar sight. There was.. this machine sitting outside, seemingly watching the snow. It was... strange, but she had her fair share of strange. So she just came and sat close by, not really saying a word, sitting in the silence of the light snowfall.

Warlock's contemplations were far from over... He wondered if he could ever face his siredam. He doubted that Magus would ever give up. All the Data that Warlock had gathered before his departure showed that Magus was very thorough, and indeed seemed... eager... to test himself against his offspring. Warlock had seen several new technarch destroyed and absorbed. Their construction and programming hadn't been advanced enough to effectively combat Magus. Warlock doubted his power would be sufficient then, and he KNEW he hadn't grown any more powerful in the relatively brief time he'd been away from the technarch.
Had he made his path confusing enough to throw off Magus? Magus was a previous generation, and had a great deal more experience. But Warlock had had sokmething that Magus had never experienced before. Fear. Desperation. Warlock had never had words for those emotions before coming to this planet. Perhaps that unexpected behavior would grant him the ability to effectively elude Magus again... He gave another scan with his hair/antennae, glad that he still only intercepted Terran signals.
Warlock had sensed the other's approach. His head didn't seem to turn so much as shift in her direction. He gave a large, Cartoony grin as greeting. "Greetings. Self am Warlock." He extended his right hand... which stretched to put itself at a more advantageous angle to be shaken. The voice was somewhat high-pitched, and childlike, despite his size.

She really did not know what to say, or do.. since... well.. she was sitting near a robot? Computer/thing. She had not clue what it was, or why it was there, but she could not help the smile or the chuckle. His words were a bit... off, so she said, helpfully.
"Well.. the proper term is hello, and the second is I am, and then your name. So.. Hello, I am Terri." She shook his hand, and found it to be odd. But she should be used to odd. She was a mutant... and she was at a school for mutants. Looking at the... creature she asked. as his voice was a wee bit piercing. Her accent pleasing to listen to as she spoke.
"Is that how you normally speak? or can you tone it down just a wee bit." She She made the small gesture with her fingers, as well a squint in her eye. "Why, might I ask are you sitting out here?"
The cold did not bother her, not in the least, but.. others.. even this.... well she was not even sure if it was a he or a she.
ooc sorry so short... I really could not think of what to reply

Warlock's head tilted to the side, in something of a kittenish manner, as he considered what she said. He spoke, "Self apologizes... Self's translation matrix appears to be malfunctioning. Self is unused to auditory communication. Technarch use electronic signals to communicate.", he gave an apologetic bow of his head. He withdrew his hand, putting it into a more conventional configuration.
He looked back toward the small piles of snow littering the ground. "Self was observing the descending ice crystals. Snow. Self finds the patterns beautiful. This does not occur on Technarch homeworld." There was a touch of sadness in his voice. Of course, Technarch lacked the emotional complexity to appreciate natural beauty... or any beauty, really. Warlock himself had gained an appreciation for the living creatures of this world.... How so many of them were so vastly different, but all survived in their current environment. The concept of Adapting to the world around him was a new and interesting one. Technarch adapted to overcome. Warlock was learning to adapt in order to survive.
He looked back over to her, "Did Selffriend Terri come out to watch the snow, too?" He gave a grin that was too wide for his face... literally. The sides of his mouth stretched off the sides of his head, possibly to convey that he was thoroughly enjoying the serene experience. His eyes looked past her to track two slightly larger snowflakes... the problem was they were separated by several feet, giving his eyes something of a chameleon-like quality, as they started moving independently of one another.

She chuckled, the sound pleasant, soft, and musical. She did not correct the creature for calling itself, self, because she was sure it did not understand. And she doubted it would be easy explaining. So she let it make the mistakes. In time.. maybe it would know and understand but right now was not the time nor the place to make the correction. Whenit started to explain what it was doing, she again had to chuckle. She knew exactly what snow was. And hearing it explained the way it was being explained was rather...interesting.
"Ah, then this is something new for you to be experiencing." She wondered what kind of world, this... well she was again not very sure what it was. Apparently it had something to do with technology since it kept mentioning a techworld. maybe later she would ask. Right now, it was not important. The beauty of the day was what was important.
Shaking her head, she tucked a stary lock of hair behind her ear. "Oh... no. I was just bored inside so I decided to take myself a walk."
Warlock - February 9, 2008 05:28 PM (GMT)
Warlock Gave a nod. The hairlike antennae that radiated out in all direction atop his head swished and swayed, but quickly resumed their straight out positions. "Yes. Self has seen ice crystals in space... they do not behave like ice crystals in an atmosphere. Self finds the differences remarkable." He gave his cartoonish grin, resuming his observation.
He turned his attention to her at her mention of being 'bored'... It was a concept still foreign to him. There was so much to see, to experience. So much was new and exciting to him. So much variety and variation. This place was a wonderland to him. He couldn't imagine being so familiar with it as to find it commonplace. He wondered if he would ever be so used to this world and its inhabitants as to find their presence routine? He hoped he had that luxury. He hoped this place would remain as remote and isolated from the Technarch's attentions as it was now.
Warlock spoke, after a second of contemplation, "Self has never been bored. Self Is still very new to this planet. Self has seen so little. But still, just in this small area, self continues to find new things to experience. This world is so alive... Self passed through many systems to come here. Most were devoid of large-scale life like this. Self almost used all of self's Lifeglow to get here. Lifeglow is Self's energy. Self's fuel."
