Title: Just Passing Through

Anna-Marie was in a relatively good mood right at this moment. She had been wandering through Brooklyn for a little while, trying to find someone that she wanted to talk to. Okay, so that wasn't completely true. It was more that she was trying to see if she would come across someone that she knew or was friends with or something like that. Not that she really expected to this far away. Most of the people that she came across were in Manhattan or something like that.

Sighing softly, she brushed a stray lock of chestnut hair out of her eyes. She was thinking that maybe she should just go back to the place where she was staying, but she was honestly sick and tired of that place now. It almost made her wish that nothing had ever happened to her, and that she still lived with the people that she used to. At least then she hadn't really had to worry about her powers and what would happen if she accidentally touched someone like what had happened with Carol Danvers when the woman had touched her.

After a few minutes, she stopped walking and glanced around at where she currently was. Tilting her head to the side slightly, her emerald orbs darted around quickly, bouncing from person to person as she noticed people looking at her. From what she had learned, a lot of people that she came across often wondered about the white streak in her hair. She didn't like going on and explaining about it, or even having people think that she was weird because of it. Smiling faintly at one of the women that looked at her, she started walking off once again, not really in the mood to talk to a stranger right now.

Coming across a bench, she sat down on it and closed her eyes slightly. Smothering a small yawn, she bit back a small sigh "What am ah doing here?" she asked herself out loud, opening her eyes once again "Ah should really go back home..."

It was December 29. The last few days of the year.
Seven months of being a Brotherhood member.

In the seven months he had gained, briefly faltered with the mayhem of the spar competitions, then regained the trust of Magneto. The master of magnetism himself. The man was as much a military genius and political mastermind as anyone could hope to be. And he was one of the four 'Elite' members of the man's Brotherhood of Mutants. He had missed his turning point. Even if he wanted to turn back now, he couldn't.

Never let it be said he was an optimist, but fortunately, there was a good thing about the situation. As an elite member, he was rarely restricted by anyone save occasional remarks on work by Domino. Which gave him the choice of driving out to New York City whenever he liked. His jeep was convenient for that, and as long as he didn't have to deal with a ten minute 'oh come on let me come along, I'm going to die of boredom' rant from Chasm, leaving the compound was easy enough. The Brotherhood was convenient in that: members didn't usually get involved with what others were doing.

So here he was in Brooklyn, having driven out simply to get out of the Compound for a moment. Brooklyn, along with Manhattan, had become quite familiar to him over the months since his induction into the Brotherhood. He had his usual places and usual paths, and after parking his jeep, took one such way and started walking. It was early evening but he could wait a little longer to find something to eat. He wasn't that hungry yet, and not eager to go inside one of his usual diner/bar places; he wasn't much in the mood for company.

Of course there were exceptions.
One such exception would possibly be a familiar white-streaked brunette girl. He hadn't seen the kid since November, and the first week of November at that. It had been a full two months. Fortunately the kid seemed more or less fine. There was little hesitance in his steps as he walked over to the bench, but he didn't sit down next to her, instead stopping just next to her, not exactly in front of her. No special attempts for a grand entrance, and no special attempts at particular friendliness. But here he was standing in front of her, that was something.
"Hey kid."
