Title: How about this trade idea
Description: If Texans go with Williams

DoctorDoom - April 28, 2006 11:59 PM (GMT)
I just heard the Texans haven't negotiated with Reggie Bush in 24 hours yet they continue to negotiate with Mario Williams. What if they end up taking Williams. The Saints could trade down with the Packers for their 1st + Javon Walker and maybe the packers get the Saints 4th rounder. Then the Saints could take D'Brick or Vernon Davis.

I also heard the Steelers and Bears are talking about trading. The Steelers are trying to get two first round picks.

The Texans have already signed Mario Williams to a contract and the Saints are looking for someone to make a trade with, they (Saints) want to do a sign and trade with Bush but there aren't any takers yet.

My thought is the Packers are going to trade their 5th overall pick and Javon Walker for the saints #2 overall pick to secure Reggie Bush at #2.

Both teams have already been having trade talks about Walker, always helps.

My thinking is that it will take much more than the 5th and Javon Walker. The Saints will be asking for two kings ransoms for this pick.

I dont know, Javon Walker just to move up 3 slots is asking alot. I think if the Saints want more they arent going to make a deal with Green Bay. If they do the deal they get both Javon Walker and a TE like Vernon Davis as Ferguson wont make it past the Jets if they stay at 4. To be honest the Saints dont need Bush either as McAlister is their starting HB and Horn and Stallworth are good receivers.

I could see the Packers giving the saints another late or mid round pick as well.

Yeah, I guess when it is dealing with cheap skate Benson anything is possible. Though our GM Mickey Loomis is not a terrific football mind, he is a very shrewd negotiator and fairly good at exactly that. I as a Saint's fan would prefer that if we were to trade, we get the Jet's 2 first rounders and their 3 round pick. From what I am reading, it is the 3rd rounder that is the sticking point keeping this from happening.

My friend the Jets have more holes than even the Saints and they cannot afford to trade up. They need to trade down and stockpile more picks if anything. Now Im not saying the Jets wont trade up but it wouldnt be a good idea if they did. They have no offensive line outside of Pete Kendall, no HB (Martin is not going to be much of a factor this season), no WRs worth mentioning (Coles was vastly overated), no TE worth anything, a need at both outside linebacker positions, a safety and a corner need as well.

From looking at the situation only the Packers look like they have the ammo with Walker to trade up.

VaeVictus - April 29, 2006 06:29 AM (GMT)
Maybe you are right. A lot of media outlets are going w/ the Jets as the primary suitors for trading. I personally wouldn't trade a player with Bush caliber potential to anyone without the kings ransom. I doubt the Saints do keep him. We have Deuce, Michael Bennett. I see a trade the more I think of it. I hope it is the Jets. Ferguson and Mangold as first rounders would be the next best thing to Bush.

Im with you the Saints need an offensive line more than anything else but I think the Jets would be foolish to make the trade that would set them back. Another reason all the media outlets are talking the Jets is because whether you like it or not there is an east coast bias, they want Bush in NY.

VaeVictus - April 29, 2006 06:36 AM (GMT)
Yeah, there is no question about the bias. The NY teams in the NFL and NBA have been lacking with the recent acception of the Giants.

I want O'line or LB.

sithoverlord - April 29, 2006 06:40 AM (GMT)
If the Saints linebackers work out theyll be fine at LB. It all depends on how well Anthony Simmons plays, if hes fully recovered hes one of the best LBs in the league.
