Title: Texans Agree To Terms With Mario Williams!

Per ESPNEWS!

Wow... This is why the Texans are the worst team in the league. How can you pass on Reggie Bush?

DoctorDoom - April 29, 2006 12:20 AM (GMT)
Because DE was the bigger need and probably money. I wouldn't say they won't draft Reggie Bush. This does give them big leverage on contract negotiations with Bush until noon tomorrow. So there is time for a deal to still get done with Bush.

nah you cant justify this no matter what you say. the texans need offense, this is a terrible move for them.

The Texans need both offense and defense. Williams is going to be great, but Bush is going to be greater. I think that the Texans are making a mistake.

It's not a terrible move, Bush will be a great player, but for a young team with so many needs it might make sense to build the team up before you draft a franchise runner, you have to win in the trenches to have a good football team. History suggests you can get great backs in the later part of round one all the way into the 3rd round.

i think someone needs to consider two things here. the texans depth, and the texans salary cap. drafting Bush is not a need for them by any means. they have a solid RB, and a solid return man. also by drafting him #1 would make RBs something like 30% of their entire cap, not good cap management. you just don't draft RBs #1 overall, they are not worth that amount of money, and they have something like the shortest careers in the NFL. besides, what offensive line was reggie bush going to run behind, because the texans clearly lack one.

DoctorDoom - April 29, 2006 01:03 AM (GMT)
It came down to do you want maybe the next Reggie White or maybe the next Gale Sayers. If Williams is a bust and Bush ends up being the next Barry Sanders the Texans will never live this down. It will be the same as when the Packers took Tony Mandarich over Barry Sanders(HOF), Derrick Thomas(HOF?), and Deion Sanders(HOF).

Of course if Mario Williams is the next Reggie White and Reggie Bush is the next Eric Metcalf then Charlie Casserly will look like a genius.

I heard on another site that the Saints and Jets have agreed on a trade the Jets get Bush the Saints get #4 overall and more picks.

I dont think drafting Mario Williams was the mistake, hes going to be a great player. The mistake was passing on Reggie Bush, I certainly wouldnt have without alot of compensation; Im talking like three firsts for that pick. Texans fans however shouldnt boo Williams, hes going to one of their favorite players once they realize how good he can be.

VaeVictus - April 29, 2006 06:06 AM (GMT)
Saints fans rejoice. We either get Bush or a boatload of picks. :D
