Mama always said if I couldn't say anything nice to not say anything at all. So on the Bengals' selection, no comment.
The one thing I like is that it isn't a carbon copy of many I've seen. Originality is a good thing. You have Ferguson falling to Detroit, which is a first I've seen. Who knows, at least it's original. I'm not sure Bunkley will last as long as KC, but it's possible. I'm even more skeptical of Lawson lasting that long though.
I know you didn't project trades, but I feel that Bush may not end up being a top two pick.

whats wrong with watson, hes a good positional pick, hes a bit of a reach there, but hes not a bad pick

You sorta answered your own question there. WAY too early in my opinion. I don't know I'd take the guy until round three at the earliest, and even then I'd have to swallow hard. Oh, and one other thing- his agent is Drew Rosenhaus.

Has anyone thought that the Bears might not take Pope? They have said nothing about him. Word is they like Dominique Byrd and Sinorice Moss. They actually are looking heavily at CBs, OTs, and WRs. TE isn't the given pick like everyone seems to think.

can't see the Dolphins taking Ryans, he's a bit small for Saban's liking.

There are certainly other positions the Bears seem to be looking heavily at, but I think it's for a different reason. Especially with free agency so close, I think the Bears are trying to determine whether they are better off filling some of the needs through Free Agency or the Draft. So you look at where you are drafting and what is available in FA and see how you can maximize value. If you feel like the value of a 3rd/4th round pick at CB is greater than the standard CB market, that helps you determine your needs when FA starts. In the case of TE, there are no FA TEs who are even remotely interesting, so you can focus on them at pro days or bring them in for interviews later and focus your energy right now on how the players available in the draft affect your free agency strategy.

I like the pick of DeAngelo to the Vikes. If we go until the draft without improving our RB situation, we need to draft either Williams, White, or Maroney. I personally like Williams the best of the 3, but I would be excited if one of the other two became Vikings as well.

Gabe Waston have helped himself by dominating in Senior Bowl practice. He is projected to go to late 1st round to early 2nd round. Gabe Waston has top 10 talent but a bottom 10 on motivating. He can be the most dominant DT on the field but on other times, he has been non-existant. Gabe Watson reminded me a lot of Shaun Rogers when he came out of college. Similar athleticism, size, strength but have no motivation. Shaun Rogers succeeded in the NFL is when he finally got motivation to play football.

Nick Saban have a reputation for drafting players from SEC conference. DeMeco Ryans maybe small but he's productive which it can not be ignored.

what? no more comments? Keep it coming........

Seems like there are alot of good prospects this year and that makes it harder to guess which way teams are leaning. I'd love to see Ferguson to the Lions, even though I don't think he will be available at #9. The thing is, it is harder to make a case for that this year compared to years past. Some of these guys put up unreal workouts at the combine. I do think you've identified alot of the players that will end up being picked in the first round. Of all the picks, I wouldn't be surprised if Kiwankas falls to the 2nd though.

reputation? He's only been involved in 1 draft with the Dolphins.

I may be the only one to think this but I honestly have way too many questions about Vince Young to draft him top 10. First round talent for sure but i dont know if Id lock up tens of millions and the future of my franchise on him if I where a GM of an NFL team.

sorry, my wording is wrong, but what I'm trying to say is he has a tendency to pick SEC players.

Manny Lawson is way to low, I see him going between 10-15. Chad Greenway didn't run very well at the combine I see him slipping into the later part of the 1st.

I may be wrong but I just don't see Ryans being a "fit" for Saban's defense. I would bet a "George Washington" if Manny Lawson is sitting there at 16, Nick Saban will be running up to the podium with the card with his name on it.
sithoverlord - March 7, 2006 07:40 AM (GMT)
yeah Id have to agree that Ryans isnt a great fit for Sabans defense. Saban likes to mix 3-4 in with the 4-3 and Ryans would just be overmatched in the 3-4 defense.
