haha You've got to be kidding me. The Jets give up all that for one 1st round pick? The Jets could conceivably ask for multiple 1st round picks for Abraham alone (Broncos anyone?). Plus there's no way the Jets are prepared to take on the salary of a #1 pick. They're more likely to trade down than trade up. I'll give you props for being original but that's being generous.

5. Green Bay Packers- Reggie Bush, RB, USC
Highly unrealistic. 1st off the Packers need help on defense. 2nd no way Bush falls this far. 3rd no way Bush falls this far.
QUOTE
15. Atlanta Falcons- Mathias Kiwanuka, DE, Boston College
Smith and Kerney are aging so they could look to grab one of their replacements here but an even bigger need is Safety. If Ko Simpson (not sure how you don't even have him in the 1st round) is still around at this pick he's a lock to go the birds. The Falcons could grab 2 safeties in this draft, that's how awful the play was last year at that position.
QUOTE
19. San Diego Chargers- Tye Hill, CB, Clemson
The Bolts have several young corners (Sammy Davis, Q. Jammer, D. Florence) so I don't see them drafting another one here. If FS Simpson (or possibly Huff if he somehow falls this far) are gone, they'll go OT.
QUOTE
24. Cincinnati Bengals- Jason Allen, S, Tennessee
I don't think he's anywhere close to a 1st round pick...mid 2nd round at the earliest.
QUOTE
27. Carolina Panthers- Sinorice Moss, WR, Miami
They already have Sinorice Moss, his name is Steve Smith. If they go WR it'll be a big possession-type receiver.
QUOTE
28. Jacksonville Jaguars- Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota
A decent pick actually. Pair him with Greg Jones and they could have one of the top RB tandems in the league. I still think the Jags have to look at defense here especially CB
QUOTE
31. Seattle Seahawks- Manny Lawson, OLB/DE, NC State
He doesn't fit their scheme at all. Lawson is your prototypical 3-4 rush LB. Think Baltimore, Cleveland or SF.
Like I said before its original but that doesn't mean much if the picks don't make sense. Don't be offended. Just some constructive criticism.

Im all for Reggie Bush falling to #5, but it aint happening.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars- Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota
I like it. Perfect replacement for Taylor in a year or two.
As for Bush falling, not happening. Solid job overall though.

I like the White pick. The Vikes need an RB, and he is one that would fit in well. Williams is the guy I want to fall to the VIkes, but I am fine with any of the 3 expected to be there.
Also, there is NO way that Bush falls to 5.
waltersobchak77 - March 2, 2006 01:53 AM (GMT)
Yea, I had a hard time making a mock draft with Bush falling to #5! I know he won't but based on team needs, it makes sense...but he is just too good to pass up with the first 4 picks.
As for the hypothetical I think GB would love to have him bc Green is on his way out and they might as well start rebuilding now for Aaron Rogers' future as QB in GB; even if they need help more on defense.
IMO, I think you are wrong about Jason Allen being drafted too high. He is someone whose draft stock is going to be soaring between now and draft day. He would have challenged Michael Huff for the #1 DB spot if he wasn't injured this season. Not to mention, like Huff, he has the speed and size to line up as a Corner or a Safety...I like him going in the bottom 1/3rd of the first round.
You are right about Carolina preferring a bigger receiver, but the only one worth taking there would be Chad Jackson. IMO, however, CJ will be gone long before that pick and Sinorce Moss has too much potential to pass up (i.e. Ravens last year drafting Mark Clayton even though they had just signed a very similar reciever in Derrick Mason).
Bolts should upgrade their defensive backfield and Tye Hill is a perect fit, he has great speed and size and could line up anywhere in that back field. Some of their younger corners you mentioned haven't played up to expectation so the Hill pick isn't all that bad.
Thanks for the comments though, keep em coming!

I actually think Jason Allen to Cincinnati is a distinct possibility. And even more of a possibility is him going round one somewhere. I do not think Manny Lawson lasts that late though, unless he gets hit by a truck. NOt a bad effort IMO. I like some originality.

I think its highly probable that Green comes back at discounted and most likely incentive-laden contract. Even if he does leave the Packers have just over $25 mil in cap space so I think they'd look to grab a veteran RB (not necessarily Edge or Alexander). But hey it could happen.

His versatility will help but like you said he was injured last season. He did put on a strong showing at the combine but I'd still put Jimmy Williams, Michael Huff, Tye Hill, Ashton Youbouty, and maybe a sleeper Jonathan Joseph ahead of Allen. Cromartie and Allen are both in the same boat. They looked good at the combine after suffering injuries but are teams willing to gamble on them with a 1st rounder especially when the DB class appears to be pretty strong in the 2nd-4th rounds.

So why not grab a guy who will fill a need AND warrants that spot i.e. LB Bobby Carpenter, DeMeco Ryans; OT Eric Winston, Jon Scott; DT Brodrick Bunkley, Gabe Watson; and then take a possession WR like Derek Hagan or Demetrius Williams in one of the next rounds?
waltersobchak77 - March 4, 2006 07:19 AM (GMT)
yea, you are right, the DB class this year is extremely deep; however, the thing about jason allen is that he is able to play both CB and S b/c of his size and speed...I think he is on the radar to enter the first round and after his pro day at tennessee, he should bea sure fire first round pick

You have been hanging around Mel Kiper's website haven't you? You guys are both a couple of morons!
ScarletTerrapinNYJ - March 6, 2006 10:52 PM (GMT)
Th top of your draft is horrible. Just for thinking that the Jets would give Houston more than their first and second this year is ridiculous.
And throw in next years first and john abraham makes you look about 100x more foolish

No I haven't. I don't have ESPN insider so I don't have access to his ridiculous mocks either. I was dead on with the Ahman Green thing (he signed a one year deal yesterday). But whatever. You're entitled to your opinion.

You have some guys rated way too low while you have others rated way too high.
Cornbread - March 7, 2006 03:57 AM (GMT)
I think Jason Allen could easily sneak into the 1st round with the kind of combine that he had. He really has it all, speed, size, versatility and experience.
