Raptors Sign DatBoyWonder as new GM/Coach

Toronto (AP)--
After a poor 14-23 start, Raptors owner Larry Tenenbaum had enough with the stagnant Raptors GM, and decided to fire him. Along with the GM, the coach was also fired, as Larry thought that "he was not bringing out the best of the players," and that "the Raptors squad is much too talented to be sitting at the bottom of the East." Days after the firings, the Raptors completed the front office remodelling by signing DatBoyWonder to be the new GM and coach for the Toronto Raptors. Larry spoke at the press conference.

"First and foremost, I would like to once again congratulate DatBoyWonder on becoming the new GM and coach of the Raptors. If some of you are wondering where in the world you have heard that name from before, and guessed the NCAA, then you guessed right. DatBoyWonder was the Head Coach over at the University of Massachusetts for the past couple of seasons. While he has been there, the Minutemen have been at the top of the Atlantic 10 conference along with Boston College, and they have been a very successful basketball squad. DatBoyWonder brings fire to the table, and puts it in the heart of the players, something we felt was desprately needed in Toronto. Although it was on a collegiate level, he showed that he knows what it takes to build a successful team, so we have faith in him being our (Toronto's) GM as well. Heres to a new era, as the Raptors Organization believes that DatBoyWonder could make the moves and adjustments necessary to bring us to the top."

The cameras and attention were now turned toward DatBoyWonder, as he repositioned himself to speak.

"First of all I would like to thank Larry Tenenbaum and the Raptors organization for such a wonderful opportunity. This is truely the ultimate dream come true for me. Not only do I become the head coach of an NRSL team, but I also become the GM of the same NRSL team. I never thought it was possible, but now I see that it is, and I thank the Raptors organization for making it happen. When Larry came to me, we discussed about basketball north of the border, and how it was pretty dull and stagnant up there in Toronto. He asked about what I'd do if I was not only the coach of the team, but a GM as well. I researched, long and hard, and gave him a full outline of what I would try to do as coach and GM of the Toronto Raptors. I'm not going to go into details, but I will say that this team is very, very talented. Talented enough to the point where I think with a few key acquisitions, and straighten out the players heads, we could turn the season around quickly. Obviously Larry liked that, as he was quick to put me into the position. All I want to say is, be patient fans. This team has some hidden talent, and a proven young leader in Chris Bosh. We will turn this ship around, and work towards the ultimate goal of being a championship team."
